Then after several conversations with the front desk I was told I had been referred to collections and they couldn't help me. They damaged my reputation and my credit. Since then the family that recommended me had a consultation for dental work for several thousand dollars and after getting two other dentists to look at the work they suggested they were told it was criminal what they were trying to do and the suggested work didn't need to be done. In Evans defense it was his son that is working at the practice that had recommended the work.

I was surprised by how quickly the actual operation was performed after we finished all of the paperwork because I had barely settled down to do some reading in the waiting room when I was told that it was all done! After the surgery my loopy and super inquisitive wife was brought down to our car by a member of the staff and we went on our way to get some drugs at a local pharmacy. Very easy! I explained that I had heard patients often say funny or disoriented things during emergence from anesthesia and wanted to be present for that personal moment as his parent. They agreed to notify me. However, when staff finally came to get me, my son was already fully awake and had been moved to another room. The assistant stated they "have to move patients to another room right after the procedure" and added that my son "didn't say anything funny." I was deeply disappointed. As a parent, this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment I had specifically requested. It is not the staff's role to decide what is or isn't meaningful to our family. This experience disregarded basic patient and family rights to participate in care and be present during key recovery moments, especially after sedation. We were not given even a few minutes to accommodate a reasonable, pre-communicated request. Instead, the focus appeared to be on quickly moving patients through rather than providing patient-centered care. Wisdom teeth removal is an expensive procedure, and families expect better respect for their rights and wishes. I will not recommend this practice to others.

DO NOT GO TO DR. BLACK'S OFFICE. I have had multiple…read moreincidents of shoddy work from Dr. Black, and while he was interpersonally kind when I came back to get them fixed, his actual dentistry skills were lacking. Each time I was still left with unnecessarily sharp edges, broken fillings (one fell out literally in the parking lot after the appointment), and temporary crowns that fell out multiple times (including, again, falling out in the parking lot the moment I stepped out the door. I understand temporary crowns are *temporary*, but these fell out almost immediately, which I've never experienced with other dentists). I have spent hours over the course of several months in his office with my teeth worse for the wear, until I finally went to another dentist who replaced my filling. He noted that it fell out because Dr. Black didn't actually get the entire cavity cleaned out, which is likely why the filling didn't take. Despite paying hundreds of dollars upfront for this dental work, I received a bill from Dr. Black's office (for some reason it was in my husband's name, not mine, even though the work was my own) for an additional fee that insurance had apparently not covered (which I understand happens and is not necessarily Dr. Black's fault). When we called to ask if there was any leeway in not paying this additional fee given the shoddy work done by Dr. Black, the receptionist blamed us for not calling sooner and said we were not being "fair" to Dr. Black by going to another dentist to fix the work he had done poorly. When I explained that I have limited time off work and did not want to spend it sitting in the chair of a dentist who had already messed up several times when I was in intense pain from the filling falling out, she still insisted that I had made the wrong choice by going to another dentist first. Also, Dr. Black made unnecessarily sexist comments, such as remarking that women "can't handle" the pain of teeth whitening as well as men can (and research shows that doctors dismissing women's pain in this way is a major cause of medical malpractice) and that women don't know anything about cars or oil changes. When I tried to gently correct this rhetoric by stating, "I actually drove my own car to this appointment and I've managed my own oil changes for years," he smiled, disagreed with me, and held to the sexist rhetoric. Also, I have never given written consent for them to share my medical records with my husband, but somehow they joined our files (which is, I assume, why the bill came in his name instead of mine), despite us having different last names and never requesting that they do this. My assumption is that they found out we were married and use some sort of outdated "head of household" protocol to put family members together under the name of the "man of the house", but according to federal privacy laws they should not be sending my medical information to another adult unless I've filled out a HIPPA consent form (which to the best of my memory I have never done at this office). Save yourself some time, money, trouble, and sexism by finding a different dentist.

Cash patients BEWARE. I've had two bait and $witch experiences with this dentist. My adult,…read morecollege-age son had an implant done here AND a teeth cleaning. The $2400 implant tooth that Dr. Ellis had subcontracted out ended up getting a hole in it after 9 months. So Dr. Ellis charged my clueless son over $750 more to have a replacement tooth made (because my son didn't get the insurance...too bad!!) WHAT?! I called immediately and disputed that the tooth should last AT LEAST a year. Dr. Ellis backtracked and agreed to reimburse my son's account $750 and that the subcontracted tooth was "most likely" flawed. Oh, thanks for admitting this..then why did I have to call..were you hoping to not have to eat the cost of poor quality subcontractors?! Then, my son asked for an estimate for a cash teeth cleaning. They quoted "about $200". Today, after my son's teeth cleaning they charge him $311! He disputed the charge and they said, "Oh, we had to take extra x-rays." WHAT?! He then disputed that he didn't request extra X-rays ...and they lowered the cost to $238. Gee, thanks. The staff IS friendly and it's all very high tech...just get your cash estimate in writing.
