My experience with this office raised serious concerns about the coordination and continuity of my…read morereproductive healthcare. I was scheduled for a hysterectomy in April 2025 after completing the scans, bloodwork and consultations requested by Dr. Bodon and surgeon Dr. Herman McDaniel. In February 2025, Dr. Bodon recommended Zepbound for weight loss before surgery. It took nearly two weeks for the prescription to reach the pharmacy, and a promised medication follow-up was never scheduled. I disclosed my medications during my surgical appointments with Dr. McDaniel, but I was never instructed during those visits to discontinue Zepbound before surgery. My April surgery was then canceled because I was told the wrong hospital had been scheduled. It was rescheduled for June. I had already made costly arrangements for the original date. When I contacted Director of Operations Elsa Gutierrez about what happened, I found her communication extremely dismissive and disrespectful. When I questioned why the insurance/network issue had not been verified before scheduling surgery, I was essentially asked, "You've been rescheduled, what do you want?" Before my June surgery, I saw Dr. McDaniel again. He initially appeared not to remember recently seeing me and was about to order another transvaginal ultrasound and bloodwork until I reminded him that I was there for my pre-op appointment. During that appointment, after reviewing my vitamin D levels, he asked about my occupation and income. After learning I was self-employed, he gave me promotional material and his personal promotional code for a website with which he said he was affiliated. My understanding from the conversation was that he could financially benefit if the code was used. I found this concerning during a preoperative appointment, particularly because I received very little information about preparing for surgery. The week before my June surgery was chaotic. Less than a week beforehand, I had heard nothing regarding pre-op testing. Four days before surgery, a STAT lab order was being arranged. Two days before surgery, a hospital nurse asked about cardiology clearance, and I personally contacted my cardiologist to have it faxed. Then I learned that authorization had been obtained for the surgery but not the hospital stay. The hospital warned me surgery could be canceled without it. At approximately 4:30 p.m. THE DAY BEFORE SURGERY, while I was at the pharmacy picking up medications prescribed for my postoperative recovery, surgery coordinator Sarah called and told me the authorization had not been obtained and my surgery was canceled. This was my second canceled surgery after months of preparation. I called afterward requesting an appointment with Dr. Bodon but could not get one scheduled. At this time I was still experiencing extremely heavy bleeding. My insurance approved a referral related to obtaining medically necessary pads and told me to contact the office. An employee then told me my insurance was out of network, despite my having received care there for approximately six months. About ten minutes later, Sarah called and explained that this information was incorrect. She also told me the employee claimed I had been "getting all crazy" with her. From my perspective, I had simply been asking questions about my insurance and an approved referral. When I contacted Elsa again, she told me she was too busy to deal with the situation, repeatedly asked, "What do you want?" and ended the call. Afterward, I was never able to meaningfully reconnect with my physician. No follow-up appointment with Dr. Bodon was arranged, and my patient portal messages went unanswered. Yet prescriptions continued to be filled for months afterward, including Zepbound through approximately December 2025 and iron prescriptions later, despite no follow-up visits. I ultimately declined to schedule another hysterectomy with Dr. McDaniel because I no longer felt comfortable proceeding under his care. As of August 2026, approximately 14 months after the canceled June 2025 surgery, I have received no meaningful follow-up regarding my reproductive care and no response to my portal concerns. I understand that insurance authorizations, hospitals and medical scheduling can be complicated and mistakes happen. My concern is the cumulative pattern I experienced: two canceled surgeries, scheduling and authorization problems, last-minute pre-op coordination, conflicting insurance information, unanswered messages, lack of physician follow-up, and interactions with management that I experienced as dismissive and hostile. Women seeking serious reproductive healthcare deserve clear communication, continuity of care, careful coordination and respectful treatment. Based on my experience, I would not entrust this office with my reproductive surgical care again.

I share this so women can make an informed decision regarding their care…read more I had breast cancer while I was under their care throughout my pregnancy, that went undetected. I do NOT recommended these doctors at all. I was seen primarily by Tatiana SHIDAKI for most of my pregnancy, during my third trimester I developed a palpable lump on my breast, on my Ob check up I was seen by Dr.Benitez that particular day, I let her know about the lump, first of all that whole appointment was rushed, she had her hand on the door knob while I was letting her know about the lump, she wasn't even going feel it. What she said was that it was normal to develop one during pregnancy, I said, "you aren't even going to feel it?" It was then that she felt it and said it was fine, I asked to be referred to have an ultrasound, thankfully she didn't give me any push back and she said she will send me to a outside facility to have the lump seen via ultrasound. At checkout I let the front desk know to please never have me scheduled with Maria Benitez again, she rushed the appointment. I was able to see Tatiana SHIDAKI before my delivery which was a scheduled c section and I specifically remember expressing concerns and worries and asking her, "but you will be there right?" , regarding delivery, and she said "yes". I whole heartedly feel she lied to me, she isn't even an MD, she was not going to be at the hospital when I delivered. Spoiler alert, a doctor I've never met before deliver my son via SCHEDULED c-section, no MD from AWH was there. I am extremely disappointed and I wish I would have know that they will be doing the bare minimum prenatal care. I finally get the ultrasound done AFTER my delivery at 3 weeks post partum. That is a whole other story, but the point is that this place had me in their care the whole time and missed my breast cancer, some labs were off and I wish I would of pushed to have more test done to see what was going on. Anyways I get my u/s done and they say everything's fine come back in 6months it isn't cancer. I go on about my day, but the lump kept growing, so I called AWH and requested to have a referral sent to the diagnostic office to have another ultrasound, I did not feel comfortable waiting 6 months, only three months had gone by. I did have to go in personally and have a provider look at the lump. That day I saw a new provider and thankfully she sent in the referral. When I'm finally diagnosed at 5 months post partum, Tatiana SHIDAKI called me over the phone to deliver the news and that she will refer me to an oncologist. At 7 months postpartum I went in to have my c section scar looked at and took the opportunity to express my disappointment with Tatiana. When I brought up the topic of my cancer, she says, "I don't know why they had me call you with those results since I didn't even send in the referral for the ultrasound" I was shocked, she was the provider I mainly saw for my pregnancy, I'm thinking that's why the Office had her call me to tell me I had stage 3 breast CANCER. If you are still here, thank you and please advocate for yourself, if you can, please don't come to this office, they do the bare minimum, they rush their appointments if you let them and have little to no patient care/bedside manner. Maybe my cancer could have been found sooner since the lump developed during my pregnancy maybe it wouldn't have, we will never know.

You cannot bring a guest to appointments, even prenatal visits, which feels unnecessary and isolating, especially for first time mom's who deserve to have their partner alongside them through the process. They consistently overbook, so plan to wait at least an hour just to be seen. I once waited 2.5 hours past my scheduled prenatal appointment time. The care itself feels rushed and disconnected. The ultrasound tech was cold and clearly unhappy to be there, with no bedside manner at all. Once you're finally called back, you're shuffled from person to person and only get a few rushed minutes with the doctor. It feels more like a conveyor belt than actual care. Communication is just as bad. If you try to call with questions, expect to sit on hold for 30 to 45 minutes before reaching anyone. The biggest red flag for me was scheduling. I originally saw Dr. Nahar, who left the practice. I later booked a yearly appointment with Dr. Garza months in advance, rearranged my entire day to attend, and showed up only to find out my appointment had been canceled and Dr. Garza had also left. I received no call, text, or email notifying me. This was the second doctor I had booked who left the practice, with zero communication. Overall, there is a clear lack of bedside manner, no respect for patients' time, and serious turnover issues among providers. Something is off here. I would not recommend this office. Let the amount of 1-star reviews speak for themselves.

When I decided to transfer my care to another provider, I was told I had to pay for an appointment because my insurance supposedly didn't cover it. They even contacted my husband claiming they had spoken with me and that I had agreed to pay half of the balance while they would waive the other half, which was not accurate. As for Dr. Jacome, I felt his quality of care was fair. He is understandably very busy balancing office visits with hospital deliveries, so appointments often felt rushed. The ultrasound technicians, however, were outstanding. Audri, in particular, was kind, compassionate, and made every visit a positive experience. She was by far the highlight of the office. Employees like Audri are what keep patients coming back, and her professionalism and genuine care made a significant difference in my overall experience.
