TNT Chili

We stopped at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub on our way home last night and they did not disappoint! They're known for their world record burgers and many of them sounded really good. But I was intrigued by the burnt turkey ends with maple waffle fries and maple turkey gravy and cheese curds I also ordered a bowl of chili and lemme tell ya - it was some of the best chili I've ever had! Now, the turkey ends... Wow, that plate was DELICIOUS I don't know how they make maple waffle fries, but they need to become a thing. The maple turkey gravy was rich and salty and sweet. The cheese curds were creamy and melty and added texture and flavor. I'm blaming it on the 16oz of beer and the bowl of amazing chili... But I tapped out halfway through haha! One of the most interesting and tasty meals I've had in a long time. I'm going to see how they heat up in the air fryer, for breakfast. Should you find yourself on I-80 in western PA, definitely plan to stop at Denny's Beer Barrel... But you better be ready to eat!

Dillaree Burger

I had to come back and give this place another go. I enjoyed myself so much the last time and that burger has been on mind heavy lately. I'm honestly going to focus on the burger this time around. The atmosphere, service, and overall experience were basically the same. But that burger I had this time, still plays in my mind. I was in such sweet euphoria by having this burger. If you are a pickle lover, or have a hankering for some at any given moment in your life, the Dillaree Burger is for you. It is dill-icous. Pun intended. The burger, which is amazing on its own, is enhanced by all the dill that is surrounding the patty. It's not enough to just put pickles on a burger with this particular one, you have to really surround and almost encase this burger in pickles. The pickles start as the base. Plain old dill pickle chips, the good kind. Then they place the burger patty on top. Towards the top you have fried pickle chips, just in case you haven't had your fill of dill just yet, they add more. With the addition of a havarti dill cheese it enhances the dill flavor. So much so that you don't even notice the blackened ranch they put on this. Just in case you haven't had enough dill, there is a pickle spear served on the side. To, you know, kind of wash it down. As always, make sure to get the fries with this or any other burger. It is a nice compliment. I wish I lived closer, but at the same time, I am happy that I don't. If I did indeed live closer I would lose the appreciation I have of this place.

Hot Bacon Garlic Wings chased with a House Beer - Denny's Barrel Bursting Pilsner

Looked like the wait time for a table can get to be a pain but we hit it just right & were seated at a high top as soon as we walked in. Large menu with many a vast array of delicious sounding pub grub options. I got my burger medium well (as recommended) with the BBQ on the side & upgraded to beer battered fries. Everything was great. I enjoyed the wings as well, they were cooked good, & the bacon flavor was unique. I didn't experience anything "hot" about them at all. Not sure if something was missed or that's how they are. I also thought the draft list was cool too, having 3 or 4 different house drafts on that were made specifically for Denny's. Overall I really enjoyed my first visit and can't wait to get back up.

Great place to sit for a while and watch sports. Make sure you come hungry because the portions are HUGE. Order a meal here and have enough for the next day. Great selection too of draft beer. Lots of choices. The server was helpful. The only reason for not giving five stars is that the meat was a tad dry. However, it had a great taste. Very flavorful! Good selection of apps too on the menu.

Large Fry with Seasoning

We stopped here for a drink and ended up eating...we were so tempted! I had the stuffed pepper soup...good...and ate some fries with seasoning with my husband. My husband said his burger was one of the best he has ever had. My dad had an elk burger and loved it! The negatives were that each addition on the burger was an up charge, so the $12 burger ended up being almost $18. My mom had dessert and for a bar it was a wonderful cheesecake with chocolate and caramel.

Food was out of this world. The burger was so juicy and cooked just right and the wings were the perfect crispness and flavorful. Service was great very friendly and just the perfect amount of chatty. The place was amazing. Clean and inviting not your typical pub.

Poutine

Been wanting to come here for awhile n finally had a reason to be in Clearfield n try it. I had the wise guy n my husband had the peach bbq bourbon burgers. And we split the poutine. That was our favorite. I wasn't crazy about my meat patty bc they said it was sausage n ground beef mixed n I couldn't really bite through it easily. I would try a different burger next time. Many of them sounded good. The poutine was delicious.

Great food as always! Server was a little flighty, but nice. We enjoyed the music and the company of good friends.

Good service but the food was horrible. Hands down the worst burger I've ever had. So dry I couldn't bite into parts of it.

This location was one of the nicest brewery setups I have ever seen. The outdoor area is perfect with a nice big patio overlooking the water and walking trail. It would be a great spot to get some drinks on a nice day. On top of the awesome atmosphere, the service was terrific. My server, Mallory did a great job. I had the buffalo chicken pita, which was delicious. The buffalo sauce was a perfect spice level and had a great flavor. They also had some really good fries that went perfect with their incredible homemade ranch. Overall, a great experience and a must stop place if you are in the area. Service was attentive and friendly. They have a broad menu of pub food favorites like burgers and pulled pork. The macaroni and cheese was kind of bland. The patty melt special with apple chutney was excellent. They include up charges for many of the sides and for the honey that is offered with the sweet potato fries.

Small brewery's are common in Appalachia. Some have even turned into larger operations, over the…read moreyears. Names like Appalachian Beer Company and Lancaster Brewery come to mind. These places some excellent beer. But they also are restaurants. So, maybe beer is a draw in or the food at times. So with that, Drunk Monkey is a pure brewery. They make, sell, distribute, and promote their own product. As far as promoting, I am not sure they need to do much work as the product has really gotten some attention at the street level. I have seen the main beer showing up at local restaurants the last year. There has also been solid word of mouth. Some of their beers are even winning awards. So it didn't take much convincing from a coworker to get me there before our Nittany Lions came on. The brewery, itself, is a tiny place tucked into an old industrial park that use to be home to one of the largest textile mills in the country. Long abandoned, different smaller businesses now call the park home. One of the more sustained businesses is Fisher's bee farm. That brings us to the brewery. The owner of the bee farm decided to start a brewery near his business. Once finding the brewery, you notice that it is a whole in the wall kinda place. But once entering, the place is organized, clean, and the folks are extremely warm and friendly. Everything is clearly marked. Beer prices are payed out in a sheet on the wall. There is a merchandise rack clearly marked. There are cases clearly marked for type. You can tell this is a place where the people love and care about their beer. The lady manning the shop was knowledgable and friendly. She gave us a preview of the beers and described each one as we taste tested the taps. She then offered us a tour of the small brewery which we jumped on. This definitely plussed the experience and ultimately earned that fifth star. We learned that this particular young lady also hand labels, preps, and fills the bottles. So she does more than just look pretty selling the beer. Now for the beer. I really can't remember all the particular names of the beer. But I had a few favorites. In particular, the German wheat beer was fantastic. That is what I got my growler filled with. Some of the other beers that tasted great, Kraken and one named Mistress or something to that effect. Fittingly, the mistress had a tap handle in the shape of a ship figure head. Speaking of which, all the beers have nautical names based on the folklore of Captain Jack which many local landmarks are named. I have nothing negative to say about Drunk Monkey. They are in an obscure location. The place is small and doesn't look like much from the outside. But like most really great businesses, it is about the knowledge of the people behind the business. Drunk Monkey has plenty of that! If you are in the area on a Wednesday or Saturday, stop in for a taste.

We were seated and it took a few minutes for the server to ask us for our drink order. Since they also make their own root beer I decided to try that. I also ordered sriracha bourbon bbq bacon burger (1/2 lb)with fries and my wife had the Philly cheese steak sandwich also with fries. The root beer was very good and it took quite a while for our order to come out (about 25 mins) but the server apologized for the delay. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and was delicious. I would definitely recommend it if you like big flavor with some heat from the sliced jalapeño slices. The fries were good but nothing special. My wife's sandwich was acceptable although she would have preferred the roll to be toasted again good but nothing special. I did try one of their beers at the event we attended which was a blueberry lemonade Shandy and was very good especially on a hot day. Overall a good experience and we would definitely stop again if we are in the area. 5 stars for the burger but overall 4 stars
