Our server Kayla was amazing. Really appreciated her service. The food was and served quick.

Pulled in with seven hangry kids at 8:30 at night. We left an hour later with full tummies and happy smiles! They sat us right away, and got our (large order of) food ten minutes after ordering. Impressive. Our waitress Summer was attentive and so kind. She joked with the kids, and never let anyone's drinks get less than a quarter full. Food was amazing too, and my teenager commented that it even looked like the picture! That never happens. All in all, a great meal served by great people. Good job! read more

Every once in a while we want breakfast out, so we're not novices to Denny's. The problem with the Denny's in Cortez is when it's busy, the service is slow and the food is low quality; when it's slow, service is better and so is the food. We were there on Sunday morning and it was busy. Create your own Grand Slam breakfast: I asked for soft scrambled, they came out hard and cold; the bacon was barely crisp; the pancakes and biscuit though were fluffy and hot. From the new All American menu, hubby chose the Philly Cheesesteak Omelet. It smelled great, not so with the taste though. The eggs, again, were hard and cold; the steak was tasteless; actually it had a sort of artificial taste to it; the best part of the omelet was the grilled peppers and onions. The hash browns were the typical, nothing to write home about, hash browns. Our waitress though did make sure our coffee cups were filled throughout our time there, so kudos to her for that. read more

Went this morning New Years Eve 2022. The food was so greasy and tasted bad, even hot sauce could not hide the taste. My wife ordered the fit slam which is supposed to be non-fat, but with the grease that is on it, will never be a fit slam. Told the waitress and the cashier but they did not care. My wife and I went there for breakfast this morning. They were not overly busy. However, even after we were finally seated we sat there for about 20 minutes. Never one time were we approached again after being seated. Then a young couple was seated in the booth behind us. Within five minutes they had been asked for their order. The people that had been seated literally a minute before us had their drinks. Seriously upsets me that we had been completely overlooked. It's not like we were hiding. And it's not like the place was too busy that they forgot about us. It was obvious to me they just didn't care. That's fine. They don't need my business. They don't care if I ever walk back into their restaurant. And good chance I won't walk back into their restaurant. There are plenty of locally owned restaurants here in cortez that I'd far rather give my patronage to than some huge corporate restaurant that seems to employ people that don't care about my business. We never did get any service and decided to leave and find our breakfast elsewhere. I'm not writing this review for Denny's sake. I write this for those traveling through Cortez. We visited this location Sunday evening and received poor service, we entered the restaurant at 7:07PM and our order was taken but entered at 7:52PM and we received our food at approximately 8:30PM. The food we received was sub standard. My eggs were not cooked correctly, the Cali Club was terrible (could not be finished), the chicken fried steak was over cooked and they forgot portions of our ordered food. When I sent the eggs back I also sent the fork I had used to cut them, assuming I would receive a new fork (raw eggs on it). They delivered the dish back to me with the fork still on the top. It had been heated to the point of burning my fingers. At that point I had to leave the restaurant. The manager of the store only said sorry and we paid for the meal, even though some of us could not eat our food. I would also like to note the restaurant was dirty, the carpet worn and the tables all sticky. This was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I have had. read more

Great value for a fast food chain... I was there pretty late and the place was empty. The waitress was very helpful, cheerful and friendly. My steak was good and I much enjoyed my vanilla milkshake... Especially since they gave me a double portion: the normal glass it was served in plus the metal mixing cup with as much milkshake as I had in the glass :D yummy!! read more

After the Covid shut downs finally lifted, there was a period when service was slow and the options were limited. In the last 5 months, the staff has been consistent, courteous, and very attentive. The food options have rarely been limited by shortages. The place is always clean and well kept. We eat there a couple times a month and are always satisfied. The management has done a great job getting back to pre-pandemic levels. It is worth the trip from more closed down areas to eat here and relax. read more

I wish I'd read the review before I went here. The wait for food was painful. I ordered a cheeseburger, medium and was told that they only cooked them medium well. I said that would be fine but just make sure it's not well done. What I got was just that. They had also forgotten the cheese. My son had ordered the all you can eat pancakes and they waited until everyone else was almost finished eating to ask if he wanted his next order. By the time those came out, we had all finished eating and were waiting on him. They do this on purpose because he didn't order any more after that so we could leave and get back to our hotel. We were here with our grandson who is only 8 months old and they stuck us in a booth with no room to maneuver. He was stuck in a high chair at the end of the table and a huge blockage to all that tried to get around, including our waitress. The waitress was very good, did well with the bad situation she was given having two tables that were crowded and a lot of noise to deal with not to mention other tables she was working. The overall condition of the restaurant was fair but the position of the sun created a blinding effect that couldn't be shaded because the sun was coming through the clear blocks and creating a blinding effect. Luckily that only lasted a short time since it was sunset shortly after we arrived. I recommend finding another place to eat in Cortez. This Denny's is one of the worst I have eaten at in a long time. read more

I get it... COVID has made dining out a little more challenging but this Denny' location needs help. I ordered the Chicken Skillet and a side salad. I also paid extra for a second side of sauce. I get there on time and wait an additional twenty mins to get the meal. I get it no one wants to work nowadays. She let's me know that there are no cucumbers for the salad.. no big deal.. I get back to the room and find my Bourbon Chicken skillet with no potatoes, peppers and onions. I call back and they inform me that they are out of those items. My question is... Why wasn't I told this? I would have ordered something else. They just serve it up and sent me on my way. What a joke!!! read more

Great service and yummy food. We stopped here with our hungry kids after a day of hiking. We waited a few minutes for a table due to Covid, but not a long wait at all. The kids were very happy with their kids meals. My husband had the sampler, which was really tasty. I had a Grand Slam. Everything was delicious and our server was friendly and attentive. Waitress kept getting lost for some reason. We came for breakfast. The Belgian waffle was dense and fell apart..could hardly get it on a fork. We asked for jelly twice. I finnaly retrieved jelly from another table. My recommendation is to go to the Ute coffee shop at the opposite end of town. You wont be disappointed there. read more

Food was good but the service was horrible. I never received a refill on my beverage or the extra napkins I asked for. The waitress always said I'll be right back with that...never showed up with anything to include the bill had to go to the counter and asked for out bill. There must of been 6 tables in my section that were never cleared off. Not busy on a Saturday night maybe half full. When I got to my car the waitress was smoking in the back with others employees. In spite of all the bad reviews from the past, I decided to have breakfast at Denny's today. GOOD MOVE! Even though it was busy, I was seated and my order taken right away. With only three tables occupied and four servers moving around, we stood at the entry way (as per instructions) for 5 minutes before realizing they don't care about serving their customers and leaving. Every single staff member saw and acknowledged us, but failed to even let us know where we could seat ourselves. Embarrassing. read more
