Stopped in here while visiting from Oklahoma and decided to see what this place was all about.It reminds you of most of the Brewery/pub type establishments you've visited. Our waitress was nice and attentive but it did take awhile for our food to arrive. That's typically fine if the food is really good, and I'd say my food was a 6-7 out of 10. So this mi amigos, is a cool place without a doubt. Tried two beers, stayed with them as they were delicious. Food was A-mazing! Burger was off the chain and my bride had the green chili stew with a small salad and it was equally delicious and lots. Large portions if that's important to you. What a great find in the city of cortez. Order a small Salad, but asked if it could be made with romaine instead of the Spring mix. Was told that they only used romaine which I think is great as I don't like the dandelion tasting greens in a spring mix.. Salad was just the right side with blue cheese crumbles, Candate walnuts and. Raisins. My friend had the burger and it was huge! He ordered medium and it came Out medium. Came in for lunch passing through on a Sunday afternoon. Came in with 6 total. Got seated right away and got some pretty solid beers. Ordered food and waited. Seemed like the food took a while to come out, and it took about as long to get fresh beers and soft drinks as well. When the food did come it was pretty solid to say the least! On a recent road trip from Colorado to Arizona, our party stopped in Cortez and the Main Street Brewery was our destination. There is some sentimental attachment to this brewery and it came highly recommended. On the surface, this place may look like lots of other bars, but that's not a bad thing. It's got character and a fitting southwest vibe. That's the extent of the similarities with other establishments. Let's discuss the beer, the food and the service. This is where Main Street distinguishes itself. Our server Gavin was friendly, personable and helpful. His input helped me decide on the excellent Cortez IPA. Check the photo. That's what a really good beer looks like. It wasn't as bitter as some IPAs, but it still packed a punch (6.7%) and it was crisp. Plus Gavin's timing was perfect for our group which wanted to hang out for a while. My friend and I both chose the Verde Jack burger. Breweries are generally pretty good at making burgers, but whoever created this one needs a raise. The 1/2 lb. Angus Beef patty was great, but then they added Monterey Jack cheese, a roasted green chili and some avocado poblano ranch sauce. This is hands down one of the top three burgers I've ever enjoyed. Typically, the simpler the better. The next time you are near southwest Colorado, a stop in Cortez would be well worth your time. Thanks for a memorable meal! read more

We stopped for lunch for wings and to try local beers. The wings were served crispy and hot, we really enjoyed them. They didn't come with celery and carrots. The IPAs were delicious and served in frosty glasses. Jo was very nice to us and cared about us being satisfied. I will definitely return when in town. read more

We were seated right away, but things went downhill fast. No water was offered--just bar drinks--and it was clear they prioritize locals. That's fine, but don't pretend to be a real brewery just because you're in a small Colorado town. This place doesn't live up to what you'd expect from a Colorado brewery. The food was terrible, and our appetizers never even arrived before the main course. The table behind us waited at the bar for 10 minutes trying to get a drink before finally giving up and grabbing a beer from their car. That says it all. To their credit, they only charged us for our drinks, which were the only decent part of the experience. But if the service is this bad on a Tuesday, I can't imagine what it's like on the weekend. Do yourself a favor--walk up or down the street. There's better food and better service elsewhere. read more

We walked in May 10th and were seated right away. We sat there for 15 minutes while the server in that section walked past several times. We were never acknowledged or offered menus. A simple 'I'll be with you soon' would've sufficed. When we finally got up to leave we told the hostess why we were leaving. What we got from her was 'she hasn't waited tables all winter', and 'she had 4 tables'. Never an 'I'm sorry'. Got in town late, sat in a booth in bar area. Megan was outstanding, lots of fun conversion. Good recommendations on their beer, let us sample. Lost cowboy double IPA and Imperial black n tan (mix) wife had Dugout Stout and amber dopplebock all were excellent. Had thia chile wings were very hot, mediums (Frank's n bbq) still a little hot but both very tasty and some of biggest wings I've ever had. Also had white an blue chip nachos no meat extremely crispy. Spent 10 minutes looking and decorations taking pics. HIGHLY recommend! read more

Save your money and time and go anywhere else, you'll only find bad beer, food, and service here, plus an angry owner who is also a chef there. We visited in September 2023, I recently corrected typos and syntax in this review (and several of my others) on Google, and the owner finally saw it and is pretty angry and ugly about it lol. Looks like they rant angrily at every negative review on Google they stumble upon. Not the best brewery around. Mancos Brewery and Wild Edge Brewery are better with beer, food, and service. Our waitress here was unreasonably snotty, the service was slow despite the very few patrons, the beer was just okay, and the food was mediocre and expensive for what it was. We appreciated that they offered vegetarian options though. But we wish we had skipped this place on our brewery hopping. As an aside, the plastic surgeon that the owner amusingly tried shame me over didn't perform cosmetic surgery on me - he sutured my wounds from a vicious dog attack that I survived. (Not that it should matter.) Guess the owner despises people who have had cosmetic surgery and/or people who have survived terrible physical trauma. Consider whether you really want to give money to someone like that. read more

We stopped in for dinner July 4th at 7:30 pm. When we entered the restaurant there was a sign that said please wait to be seated. We stood there for approximately five minutes. 3 to 4 of the employees saw us standing there and never acknowledged that we were waiting. All someone had to do was say someone will be right with you. Then another couple came in after us and stood behind us, waiting to be seated. and again, we waited a few more minutes before someone finally came over to sear us. From there, the rest of the experience went extremely downhill quickly. It took around 10 minutes for someone to come and take our order. I placed the food order and I also requested two waters. After 15 minutes I went to the bar myself to get the waters. We waited approximately another 20 minutes for the food to come out. What was ordered was a French onion soup and a barbecued pork sandwich. When the French onion soup arrived, it was basically just broth with onions in it. No cheese, no croutons just beef broth with onions. That's not French onion soup. My husband received his dinner and he said the food was good. However, no utensils were provided and she said she would bring back napkins and ketchup. Never happened. After my husband finished most of his meal, I got another persons attention and we then received napkins. I asked for the check immediately and requested the soup removed as it wasn't what I had ordered. Having been a food and beverage manager for over 10 years, this was by far the worst experience I have had in an establishment . Normally we are 25-40% tippers. I felt very badly for the $2 tip left but I couldn't justify anything more. read more

You know, if you're the type who only read reviews before doing things, you'd probably miss this place as the reviews people have provided seemed harsh & were not my family's experience. Our waitress, although in her first week, was courteous, quick & helpful in deciding things to try. The food was really great. My husband had the French dip (which he considers himself a "connoisseur" of French dips) & said "It was good; I enjoyed it" (high praise if you knew him). Kids had chicken tenders & fries & a hamburger & fries. Both kids ate well. I had the Native taco. Let's be clear, I do not often deviate from my norm: I don't try new things & I certainly don't order stuff I've never had. But the waitress was convincing & I have to say, she was right. The taco was fried pretty hard, super crunchy. The pinto beans and green chili stew were, as they say, "Chef's kiss". It's not that I didn't like the taco...I just liked the stuff on the taco better!! To end the evening, my son wanted the Kona Mud & my husband wanted the crème brûlée. The kid devoured the Kona Mud. I tried the crème brûlée & although it had some warm spots on the custard & should be served "cold", it was silky smooth & the brûlée & top was "well fired". My husband liked the beer. All in all, don't let the less positive reviews run you off of this place!! read more

Cool restaurant located in a historic 100+ year old building with plenty of room for large parties. Upon entering the restaurant, we were promptly greeted by a friendly host. Shortly after our server came by and took our drink order and was able to answer some menu-related questions we had. Throughout the meal, they checked in on us and was very attentive. The food was decent. I ordered the margherita pasta and it was a little on the bland side and had a ton of tomatoes in it. Even after adding salt and pepper it was still a little bland but still a decent meal. Prior to my meal I had a cup of the vegetarian chick'n and rice soup which was awesome. It came with this house made bread that was really good too. I really really really liked the soup. Definitely give this place a try if you ever find yourself in Cortez. Food is great. Their menu is always a pleasure to look at. It's one of the few places that serves Rocky Mountain oysters. Hilarious!!! The service there is friendly and accommodating to patrons. They always doing their best to make you time in Cortez special. The ambiance is very hometown and it's a place where everyone knows your name. I will say that sometimes there can be a few interesting characters that can detract from the overall feel of the place. If I could give zero stars I would. If you are going to have a drink on the menu, you should know how to make it. Ordered a black and tan (layered beer) which is on the menu and when served it was just one color. Told the bartender it was wrong. Apparently they don't like to be told this and we were asked to leave. We were also told it's not a layered beer. What kind of bartenders are you hiring? I've been coming to this bar for about 4 years now, and it never disappoints! The beer is my number one fav. I like the Cortez IPA, but tried their double today, and it is equally as delish. My go-tos for food are... 1. verde jack burger with house made black bean patty. All great ingredients but the patty and sauce are clutch! 2. Fish and chips with coleslaw. The tartar sauce and coleslaws are the show stoppers here, those along with the fish ! Overall I love that so much is made in house. Year after year the quality is amazing!! read more

This place was a disaster. We were greeted by an alleged "hostess" who seemed put out that we had interrupted her evening. With Ski but two tables open, she seated us by the kitchen.
