This place was horrible! Do not eat here, even if it's the only thing open after 10:00pm. We ordered the "zesty" nachos, which were extremely spicy, and when asked how our food was and if everything was okay, we told our server about not being able to eat our dinner because of how spicy it was. We were then asked if we wanted a box for them. Who does that? Common sense would tell you that if they were not edible for us at that table, when we were hungry, taking it home is not going to change that. We were not offered anything else in exchange, and were charged $9.00 for something that could not be eaten. BAD BUSINESS! As we passed Taco Bell, we discussed how we would have been much better off there, than at Denny's. read more

Let me start with the positive, the staff couldn't be nicer. With that being said the rest isn't very positive. We had a BLT and a club sandwich. The bacon was so thin you couldn't even taste it on the sandwich. My husband had hash browns with cheese, usually it comes melted on the potatoes. Cold shredded cheese this time. The worst part is the restaurant could use a deep cleaning and some serious maintenance. The bathrooms and carpet were very dirty and you could break an ankle in the parking lot. Don't come to Denny's with high expectations. It's a simple diner with a menu designed to appeal to as many people as possible. The service has ranged from horrendous to pretty good depending on the time of day and the server you get. The food is...meh, but I honestly come for unlimited coffee and big breakfast at a decent price. It's a good place to go on a slow morning where you just want to sit, drink coffee and munch on some bacon, but don't expect much more than that. It is what it is and won't change that unless their bottom line starts getting affected so be aware. read more

The food was good, love the seasoned fries, but i got syrup on my pants from the booth. and i got syrup on my phone. booths and tables need to be better cleaned. don't recommend if you don't want to get syrup on your pants. recommend if you do want to get your pants sticky. read more

Pleasantly surprised when we tried the $4 and up menu. It's not on the big menu they present you - it's on a small menu on the table near the wall. Biscuit with sausage gravy, hash browns, and two eggs cooked to your preference for four bucks and some change. read more

Stopped here on our way back to San Diego last Friday, famished. I tried their honey jalepeno bacon, though it was too spicy for the kids, I really enjoyed it. I had them with fried eggs and whole wheat pancakes, which were light, fluffy and delicious. Kids got the ridiculous meals with chocolate peanut butter pancakes, but they really liked it. Dad got the AllMercan Slam and it was good too. Wasn't too happy when the waitress poured coffee into my purse, which wasn't acknowledged, but overall it was a good experience. Service a bit slow and a little dense-really, should we have to ask for ketchup when ordering potatoes? Clean and good food. Good coffee. Denny's really has upped the game lately. read more

I took my parents there while on our way to Mesa Verde National park. After i parked, i noticed the sidewalk leading up to the front doors was really dirty i was a bit worried but after getting our typical good denny's meals i was satisfied again. I don't know what it is about the Cortez Denny's . I have eaten here a few times and the food is good every time. This time was great as well our server Jacob was on the ball. My husband and I are visiting from Australia and we ate dinner at Denny's Cortez. I ordered the salmon and I found it was not cooked all the way through. This was returned and another one given to me, this was cooked well, the steamed vegetables were just beautiful. So, despite the earlier mishap everything ended up well. I won't go back. I asked for a new menu b/c it was sticky and had toast? crumbs all over. Food was served on a plate that should have been thrown away. Denny's is Denny's no matter where you go in the country. I mean it's Denny's; you don't have the most health conscious of choices, but the food is available 24/7. This Denny's has a retro style that reminds you of it's early years; something an older couple I'm sure would appreciate. In my experience the staff was ontop of my order, the waiter came back to check on me at the right times, and kept my coffee full. Food was good, a little greasy; I didn't have high expectations. For a nationwide chain this Denny's was just shy of a 4star rating. It would be nice to see more health concious choices on a menu and promotion of localvorism. read more

The food is always good at Denny's BUT our local restaurant is made of tin (like in the 50's) and is so loud and noisy. It could stand a good over-haul and would be best starting from the ground up. It is ill arranged for the customers and for the servers. Congested. Recently we traveled thru New Mexico and Arizona and ate at several Denny's. All were very nice and a relaxing atmosphere. Little or no noise and the food tasted even better under those conditions. In Cortez, Denny's is a popular place to eat and wish we could enjoy the surroundings other locations have. Ate here because of senior discount. Waitress was friendly. Ordered breakfast and what they brought out wouldn't fill up a 10 year old. Food was bland as well. Will think twice before going to a Denny's again. Much prefer a Cracker Barrel breakfast, where it tastes better and you get your money's worth. read more

We went to this location on Sunday a few weeks ago after a weekend of camping and softball tournament. There were 7 adults, 3 children and an infant. We arrived at 7:07 pm, our ticket was entered at 7:52 pm, and we left the restaurant at 8:50 pm. When the food finally did arrive (which was served in three different shifts) was horrible and they forgot portions of our orders. I asked twice if they could get the kids something out, and my 7 yr. old granddaughter got hers last, which was children's spaghetti. My son's eggs were raw and he sent them back with the fork intact assuming he would receive a new plate. It had been heated along with metal plate and new eggs on top. Of course he burned his fingers. He left the restaurant without eating. I had to pay for this meal, minus the 3 kids meals. ($83.00) My son also complained and the manager, "Sasha", called him. She asked what she could do to make this right. She told him that I could bring receipt down and she would refund my money. I went down and she gave me a gift card in that amount. I will use it out of town as we live in a rural area and I will not go back there. I would rather have had my money back. This was an awful experience for my whole family. read more

This place was horrible. After a long day in the car we decided to eat here since it was across from our hotel. We left our dog in the room and wanted something quick. Bad decision. We came in at 7:20, it took several minutes for someone to even seat us. Longer for the waitress 'Shanner' to show up and take our drink order and about 5 minutes for her to return with said drinks. We finally gave our order and waited and waited. It had been about 30 minutes when we heard the cook call out her name and that she had an order waiting. No sign of her whatsoever. My husband finally asked someone who appeared to be the manager of the fine establishment but who the heck knows if everything was ok with our order and she said she'd check. All of a sudden here comes our slow waitress with our food. Amazing that everything was actually right on the order. However she decided to smart off and say it had only been 18 minutes. I understand it's legal here in Colorado and she must've been high. I have 2 hungry kids so I was definitely watching the clock. I was so angry I was shaking and told her that she should've said something if the cooks were behind. Needless to say, she did not get a tip from me except to get a different job.
