One Star -- Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish We waited over 15 minutes before anyone took our drink order. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't even warm--just room temperature at best. The white toast tasted stale, as if the bread had been sitting out for days. The pancakes were undercooked and doughy, completely inedible. The worst part? I found what appeared to be an insect leg embedded in my pancakes. The server was visibly embarrassed and apologetic, but the manager came over only to immediately deny it was an insect. He said, "I won't argue with a customer," yet his tone and demeanor made it clear he came to do exactly that. Came here for breakfast with the family, we were a party of 8. Initially we were told about 30 minute wait but it ended up being more like 5 to 10 minutes before we were sat. It was awesome that we were sat in the back of the restaurant to the corner. The in-laws come here quite often and were recognized by many of the staff members. It was super cool to see that Denny's was Hiring and placed an application on the placemats in front of everybody. A good marketing strategy. Today was low carb day for me and I ended up getting The breakfast fit meal for the 1st time at Denny's. It wasn't bad, it came with turkey bacon and fresh fruit (strawberry, banana and grapes). The eggs were a bit oily but overall a fresher meal. The SO ended up with a new Spicy moons over my hammy sandwich and I tasted a small bit of the egg/chorizo and it was good. He was pleased. Everyone ordered something different and left full and satisfied. The only thing left over was my English muffin and 1 pancake from everyone's order. (Unfortunately I sat in the far corner so no pictures of the other food). The atmosphere is set up like every other Dennys, being a Saturday morning it was super packed as well. Ok so let's start of with why this Denny's gets a 3/5 when there are way lower ratings on here. Denny's is one of the few things that stays open late and is honestly the only place to go if you catch a late movie, go to a party, or just have a midnight craving. It can accommodate a large crowd pretty easily and though service can be slow, you'll still be able to get food for a ton of people late at night. During my most recent visit, I grabbed the fried cheese melt, seasoned fries and oreo milkshake to share with a friend. The fries were good for the price, but the portion could have been better. The fried cheese melt is essentially a grilled cheese with mozzarella sticks -- aka heaven, but also a heart attack. The milkshake was the star of the show, but I felt really jilted when I got the metal cup that came with it and found that it was essentially empty. I'm not even sure why they bothered bringing it out to the table when it had basically nothing in it. Service was a bit slow, but hey, we were able to have a meal at midnight! read more

The Denny's Restaurant on Dogwood Road in el centro ca . Has an EXCEPTIONAL waitress. She was quick in greeting us, asking for our drink order, all with a big smile and great professionalism. Our food was served promptly in probably less than 10 minutes; hot, and not missing ANYTHING....all again, done with Dyane's big and energetic smile. I was very impressed, as it is quite unusual to hardly find the level of customer service she delivers, at ANY restaurant in the imperial valley. Servers at other restaurants could certainly use a few lessons from this precious lady on how to treat a customer. I could hear and see her at other tables, and she delivered the same great personality and service to them ALL. We brought my mother- and father-in-law to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. Both of them are in Ill health and cannot take the heat. We live in an area that regularly sees temperatures of 110+. The host made them sit in the foyer, which was not air-conditioned for 15 minutes. After 10 minutes l, I checked to see where we were on the waiting list, and the host told me they were not on the list. I told him we checked in when we arrived and why weren't they on the list. I then asked the host if he could turn on the AC in the foyer as it was blistering hot. He told me that he could not do it. I explained that they were elderly and could not sit in the heat; it was unhealthy. He explained that they did not have a table available for six people. They only had tables for groups of 4. I asked if he could put two tables together. He asked me to wait a minute. He came back and said he had two tables that I could put together. I said that would work; we walked over to the table, and he showed me the location. I told him it would work, even though one of the tables was a booth. He said okay and walked away. I stopped him and asked him if he was going to put the tables together, and he said, "You can do it!" I said, "Are you sure you want me to do that?" He replied, "Yes, you put the tables together. So I did. After moving them together, the manager came out and gave me a funny look. As he was about to say something, I said, "Your host told me that we could sit here, and I could put the tables together." He shook his head and walked off. The host returned and told me that I could not put the tables together and I should not have done that. He said we would have to sit apart from one another. My sister-in-law went up to another waiter and asked if we could have a larger table. They pointed to an empty table in the back. We ended up being moved to that table. These people don't know what the hell they are doing. The service is horrible. They didn't have three of the main dishes listed on the menu. They took my mother-in-law's cheesecake from us, telling us we couldn't bring it inside the restaurant. It was my mother-in-law's birthday cake. We demanded that it be returned. They eventually replaced it. Please don't come to this place; the staff is rude, and the place is a mess. My sister-in-law ended up cleaning off her seat because it had food and dirt in the chair. Boyfriend started to eat his meal, onions on the burger and we just pick them off since whatever not a big deal. We're all human, but overall doesn't seem like anyone cares about the experience at this point. No salt, pepper or condiments on the table. Pancakes dropped without syrup so pancakes were cold by the time I got syrup to eat with them as I was waiting for my skillet to come back. Had to ask repeatedly for waters or refill on coffee. I only needed one refill, but I had to ask different people 3 times to get them to bring anything. Really sucky experience topped by the fact that 25 minutes later, we finally hear from the waiter that the skillet is still cooking. I tell them "please box it" since my boyfriend has been long done eating. What's sad is that I'm so hungry by this point that I end up biting my lip trying to take a bite of my boyfriend's burger. Just a mess. When I say to the waiter, I don't think I should pay for the meal that is now arriving 35 minutes late, he brings the manager over and she goes well you ordered it, you pay for it. I said I ordered it an hour ago hoping to eat it here? She made no effort to care about the customer experience at all...I told her about all the concerns throughout the meal and she just kinda shrugged. She then snips asking if I want the meal to go or not. Hedging my bets, I said no figuring I'd get a better meal from McDonalds. You pretty much always know to what to expect from Denny's food. There are 2 Denny's in El Centro, and the other one is much, much better. The staff and service at both restaurants are very nice, but every time we come to this particular Denny's, there is always something wrong. We came here last night as a group of 6 adults and a 2 year old. We were planning on dining at Chili's, but they were jam-packed and there was a long wait, so we decided to hit up old reliable Denny's instead. It was a decent choice. It wasn't busy at all, there were 2 tables occupied when we got there. We were seated by a host, who didn't give us menus, he just wiped off our table and left. A female server came by to take our drink orders, but didn't bring menus either. When she came back with our drinks, we asked for menus, and she apologized, stating that she hadn't even noticed we didn't have any. When we started to place our orders, she said "Before you begin, let me tell you the things that we are out of today..." Not necessarily a great sign, but with the holidays, its understandable that deliveries and whatnot may be delayed. We made some quick changes to our order and were happy. The service was a bit downhill from here. When the adults had received their drinks, the server forgot the apple juice for the 2 year old. We reminded her about it, and she said she'd bring it right out, but never did. About 30 minutes we got our orders, and they weren't exactly right. I had asked for no onions and there were extra. My husband had ordered seasoned fries and got regular fries (which we had been told they were out of). With his meal, the 2 year old got a glass of milk instead of the apple juice that had been ordered. We also had to flag our server down for silverware. All in all, not a horrible experience. Just a little bit more of a hassle than eating at a Denny's should be. The food was good. I just picked out all the onions and my sandwich was fine. Maybe the server was new? We'll eat here again, but only if its a lot more convenient than the Denny's on Ocotillo Drive. read more

June 13,2019 approximately 10:30 am party of 4. Took our nephew for breakfast and celebrate his academic achievement. Our waiter was professional and kind. But everything else was unacceptable. Food was cold, asked Robert (who picks up tables) for BBQ sauce, he said ok. 5 mins later nothing and just kept walking by. Finally asked our waiter who promptly took care of us. Last time I will order to go from this location, decided to order something simple like the appetizer sampler, 2 pancakes and sausage links. Beat my quote time to hopefully get the food fresh, wrong! Mozzarella sticks were cold, chicken fingers were as big as my pinky and as a cut a sausage link in half it was pink on the inside. You can tell the cooks were in a hurry and didn't care for quality. My family and I where driving to California for vacation and this Dennys was right off the freeway. It was about 7pm and about 1 in every 10-15 tables had customers. We sat our selves because we had waited up front about 10 minutes and were not greeted. Our server was always polite and curteous, and really trying on his customer service skills, the only thing he lacked was he never refilled our drinks once after I specifically asked for refills up front. When the food came it was detrimental. An order of the fish and chips was way over cooked so chewy. The eggs on the skillet were ordered over medium but came over hard. The fish was so off the regular we had told the waiter, who sent the manager, who replaced the deep fried beer batter fish with the seared fillet. The original food took over 30 minutes to get to us. So by the time the 2nd fish got to us everyone else was completely done eating. The second fish was also over cooked, and not up to par. We sat and waited for our check, it never came. We walked up front and waited for someone to show up so we could pay. After waiting the manager came over sweating and looked at us for our ticket. We said we don't have it. The manager got it from somewhere. He scanned it so we could pay but the total was over $45 I looked at the itemized and 2 fishes were on there, one for $10 and one for $6 we asked the manager and he looked frustraited and confused. He took off the $6 fish and gave us our new price, we looked at him and said seriously? for that fish and that service and all that waiting? He proceeded to give us a 5% discount on our $35 bill. We were heated as we walked back to the car. I would never recomend this location to anyone, I would give them no starts for trying, or food, or customer service. Everyone will be hurting if managment can't get it together... We were here for Mother's Day, always a busy, busy day. Our server, Hector, was especially courteous and friendly, making my wife's and my Mom's Mother's Day even more special. The music was blaring at 0725 when we entered and we really appreciated Hector getting it turned down. If you shop at Vons sometimes on the longer receipts you can get coupons for Denny's that will subtract one meal from your table with the purchase of two adult soft drinks to give your wallet some relief. read more
