Landed here after IHOP's wait was 30 minutes. And being that we just came from snowboarding for our annual China Peak trip....waiting was not an option. Quickly trying to find an IHOP replacement....we headed towards Country Waffles nearby, not realizing they were CLOSED. UGH...very frustrated now we said let's just pass through this town...until we saw a sign for DENNY's....(this starts the moment of frustration) Immediately walking into this Denny's, you instantly smelled a STRONG cleaning odor...starved and letting the view of the bathrooms to the right as you come in...we thought, okay...they are cleaning the bathrooms and should have a better vent system. Got seated right away for our party of 7. (YES WE UNDERSTAND this is Denny's. Everything is slow at Denny's....but it was EXTRA SLOW....LIKE 45 minutes slow. WOW....) This was crazy. The aura did not feel right. We mentioned to our server that the food seems to have been ordered a LONG time ago. she checked...and it still took ANOTHER 5-7 minutes on top of already waiting about 30 minutes. "We have a new cook, sorry " they said. No excuses....the manager should have been in the back to help...it was NOT busy. MY SON's food CAME OUT LAST. ARE YOU SERIOUS? He had pancakes, bacon and sausage!!?!?!?!? And my lil brother's country fried steak was lukewarm inside. We mentioned all of this to the manager prior to getting our food....and after finding the lukewarm meal, and just the disatisfaction....we had it. He mentioned that he would give us a discount....until my husband's T bone came out pale!?!?!? that's when we said...this is just not acceptable...and said....we are not going to eat any of this....sorry. I give this place a 4 star for the fact our food was hot and great Denny's food! But I give our waitress (Christina) 10 stars! That girl was the only waitress and she was friendly, and working to please all the customers! I unfortunately give 2 stars to hostess....not sure what she was doing but someone had to go get her every time someone came in or wanted to pay! My family and had an over all great experience thanks to cooks and waitress! But they definitely need to hire more waitresses/waiters or at least train host to help! We ate here last night & the portions were...well, we were still hungry! They only had one waitress, so, I get it, but we were going to order more food & waited 10 minutes! We got up & left! This morning, we came in for breakfast & the service was good, but the toast wasn't toasted, the eggs & sausage weren't hot. Also, I ordered the vanilla crepe breakfast and they brought an insulting little link & skinny piece of bacon! God, Denny's!! You make a lot of money on your clientele...why not actually FEED them, eh?! The pancakes & crepe were good. The saving grace is the service here! This is the worst Denny's I've ever been to! I was feeling Hungry Like A Fox when I saw the billboard for Wendy's. Tired from sitting on the road I decided on Denny's for The Human Touch. Seeing the rush from the highway I believe this Denny's gets the overflow from the Wendys advertising Donna took under 3 minutes to identify and seat me. She helped me taste-test their selection of water alternatives. Most were too sweet and thus The Manager: Angie who was working herself into an early grave trying to handle the supply of demanding and tired customers took an unreasonable amount of time accomodating me in recognition of the review. Gabe, the chef, was instructed to make the chef's special exactly as he would make it for himself. Angie was Diligent enough to ensure that I had no dietary restrictions. This place seems understaffed during Wendys peak hours. Maybe a data scientist could make them a tool. Angy and Donna made executive decisions to price my dilute samples of the overly sweet tea: Donna decided it was a free sample and I reasoned to Angy that the soda diluted ought to cost less to encourage drinking water over sugar. Onion rings all fried to perfection. Burger well done with fresh lettuce, bacon, jalapenos, and avacado which were added. Excellent performance everyone! I sure hope Senior Management is paying these individuals enough, since they seem prepared for more money and perhaps responsibility. Despite the negative reviews here, our experience was not bad. We got seated right away and the food came out relatively fast and the service was pretty good for Denny's. Arrived at 1:45 pm and the restaurant was smoky and cloudy (burnt food). I was unable to get the attention of the hostess. After other people came in and got their names on a list, I was able to get my name on a list. Getting my name on the list took 10 minutes. Waitied 25 minutes and they still haven't called my name. Went to use their restroom but it was out of order. Seemed strange. The tables were not occupied but had dirty plates on them. Decided to leave since the burnt atmosphere didn't clear and the wait staff seemed nonexistent. Won't bother stopping here again. True waste of time. read more

David the waiter did not have any customer service not once did he ask if we needed anything or if food was good we told him fries were hard,cold and burnt and didn't do anything about it. I ate here passing through Madera. Only thing was I had awful stomach issues for the 24 hours to follow. This was my first time eating at a Denny's as I'm from Australian and don't seem to have them there. First impressions were quite good. I have favoured the traditional American diner style since arriving in the country, and this place looks pretty good. The waitresses were friendly and swift with their table service which is always good to see. Very prompt refilling our sodas. I loved the look of the menu. That cute style with the diagrams of a few select menu items on each page. Very helping with deciding. I ordered the cheeseburger with avocado. Looked absolutely amazing on the menu!! My partner ordered the bourbon chicken skillet, and we also ordered a nachos to share. Only downfall was the nachos never arrived!! Even after the waitress confirmed. A little disappointing. My burger was quite amazing. It was huge!! I could hardly eat it. At times I used a knife and fork. But it was still delicious. Following this and within maybe an hour or so I started to have strange stomach behaviours. At first it felt like severe bloating and lots of discomfort, to the point where I really wanted some sort of instant cleanse to try help. Following this lead to my stomach making heaps of gurgles and growling sounds, along with general stomach aches. I went to bed and delt with it. By the next day I had lost all my appetites, felt really unenergised, and my stomach felt sensitive .... as in the thought of digesting something may lead to it coming straight back up. Now I'm not sure what caused these symptoms to occur, but I must say I've always had a great stomach when it comes to all sorts of foods. Omg this is the worst denny's I've ever been to. My husband and I came in at 1:30 am and there was alot of people waiting to be seated. We look in the dining room only 2 tables had people. The food was not very good. I ordered eggs over medium. Got eggs that didnt look like real eggs. They were overcooked with no yolks in it. As if the egg was cooked and then the yolks was scooped out. Just a really terrible place, skip that stop. Full, super slow service especially when your just trying to hit the road. Plate came cold and nothing cooked. Soft bacon, cold, uncooked potatoes in hash brown and sunny side up with white so runny, you might as well serve them raw. No smile, no can I offer apology whatever... just show you care... I got that off my bill because I made it clear I was not going to pay for that. When I walked to pay for my husband plate, no smile just the check and just super disappointed... I've been here several times....my favorite time was at 3 am with my darling boyfriend. We decided that we needed a sampler plate and some biscuits and gravy. The waitress was wonderful and the food was hot and delicious. Go here if you want wonderful service and beautiful waitresses. Went here on a slow night out our name down (just 2 of us) and waited 20 minutes until we finally just asked a waitress if we should be seated, her name was Christina and she told us no because there was a 30 minute wait... a 30 minute wait for what?!? There were only 2 other family's seated in the restaurant. Although she did seem exhausted and as if she wanted nothing to do with being there we simply just wanted to be seated and we would have been happy with whatever wait there was from there to take our order. The other waitress walked up right after she said 30 minutes (she must have heard her telling us that) and she brought us to a table right then.
