We call this Gay Denny's or Jenny's. It's really like any other Denny's. There's no reason for you to drive to this one because it makes more sense to go to the one in your neighborhood. Usually, we go to this one when there's an event in Downtown Phoenix. It's nearby. Other reasons that I go? My friends are poor and Denny's open late. The most inhospitable Denny's ever! A party of 4 in an empty restaurant and I'm still waiting on a refill let alone a courtesy, "how's everything going guys?" The food was good. However in a restaurant it's the staff that makes the experience and the level of attentiveness leaves something to be desired. I understand it's Covid But when I'm asking for silverware and syrup for my pancakes it just feels like no one cares. It's Denny's so if you want a quick bite the food is ok and at least fresh. But don't expect anything unless your asking for it repeatedly. The behavior is learned from management. A young girl who really treats her guest as a bother. Hopefully when you visit she's in a better mood and encourages her staff to treat people better. read more

Update: Making this a 3.5 : / I forgot that they up-sell you for cheese on your hash browns, and they also not include bread with your meal, so when they offer and you select something, you get an additional charge. I am all OK for that if they bring it to your attention upfront, but even if it is a small fee I don't think it is cool... Went here for breakfast Saturday morning after dropping a car for service at one of the dealers nearby. We were promptly seated and our server Jazmin was outstanding! she was very cheerful and seemed to have a great attitude. In the service industry it makes a huge difference when people do their job giving you the feeling that they are happy to be there, and that you are there... that is how we felt. She was very accommodating and answered all our questions. Hubby had the Santa Fe skillet, that actually comes in a sizzling skillet! what a concept, haha (our other breakfast places we frequent just serve them in a skillet shaped dish)... Daughter had some burrito with bacon and avocado and she liked it very much. I got the veggie omelette (I never go with only veggies) and it was really good. Plenty of veggies, fluffy omelette, very tasty. Hubby had diet Coke, daughter and I had the pumpkin coffee, which is really good but it was too sweet for me, Jazmin helped out so it would not be as sweet. Great experience. We were very rushed today. We waited a bit for a table, but once seated, had no service for quite a while. Lena came and inquired of our drink order has been taken. We told her it hadn't, and she offered to take it, while explaining how slammed they'd been, and that she'd been scheduled to leave at 6, but was staying to help out. She offered to take our food order, and get it put in right away. We received our food very quickly. I come to Phoenix every two weeks on business. I get in too late to eat at a restaurant so I go to the Dennys on 7th Ave. the place is clean the food ohms good and the service is great. I always ask for Katie to serve me. She is so nice and makes me feel importan. She always remembers my name and what I like. Went to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning 10/3/21. A little wait we went a bit early knowing is Sunday and it might be busy. James was our server he was great! I been in here 45 minutes waiting on the server to make 2 milkshakes so I can go deliver them to my customers. Every time I come here it's a long wait it either some other problem. The entire staff is unprofessional and should be terminated immediately. As an Uber eats driver I may be about to just put this spot on my black list. I hate it here. Lisa L was our waitress and unfortunately is was not a good experience. We waited for a while before we were acknowledged and this was only because I kept making eye contact with the staff Hoping someone would come take our order. At the door we had great service as we were going to be seated we asked If we could sit in the back do to the fact that we were having a business conversation. The waitress Lauren snapped at the kind lady seating us who had no issue with us sitting at the other table. She then took extra long to come check in with us for drinks as well as take our order. I've been to this location a few times. And they have good food and pretty good service. I love the zesty nachos. They were pretty filling for an appetizer and the cheese sauce and guacamole were super yummy. It would be a great appetizer to share while you wait to dig into your main meals. read more

After a long hiatus, I had a craving for "Moon's Over My Hammy" (a fav) & decided to order via the Denny's app. To my dismay, I encountered several problems & I'm going to start with the worst part of this visit & include additional items that made this visit a disappointment. First off, the Denny's app gives you the option of having your order delivered, doing a "curbside" pickup or "in-store" pickup. In consideration of the pandemic (in addition to A. my health & B. my work schedule [which had me attending a tele-meeting that I wished to attend from the relatively quiet/safe confines of my vehicle]), I selected "curbside" pickup. Per what I read, the Denny's "curbside" option is similar to most, where an employee from the restaurant would bring my order OUTSIDE to me as I remain IN MY CAR (rather than me having to park, walk inside, risk my health & [in my case] interrupt my tele-meeting just to pick up the order). In my case, "curbside" pickup would be the most convenient option, which is why I SPECIFICALLY selected this option when ordering. When placing a "curbside" pickup order, the Denny's app SPECIFICALLY asks you to provide your vehicle info (color/make/model/etc.), which I provided PRIOR TO continuing & formally submitting my order; The Denny's app DOES NOT ask for your vehicle info if you select the "in-store" pickup option. As I arrived at the restaurant, I pulled into one of the "curbside" pickup parking spaces, I called the number on the sign & I told the Denny's employee that I had arrived (as CLEARLY instructed on the sign). Upon providing this info & my name, the employee claimed that I did NOT order "curbside" pickup & would need to come inside for my order. While this may seem minor to some, this was EXTREMELY inconvenient for me as my tele-meeting had already started, I would now have to interrupt my meeting (because it's VERY noisy inside the restaurant), & I'd also be risking my health by having to come inside & stand in the small/crowded area up front just to pick up my order (all while we're still in the middle of a Worldwide Pandemic). I know EXACTLY what type of pickup order I placed ("CURBSIDE"), & as crazy as this may sound, I FIRMLY believe that someone at this Denny's location is DELIBERATELY going in & changing "curbside" pickup orders to indicate "in-store" pickup as a means of preventing Denny's employees from having to walk outside. Granted, it's rather hot here during this time of year & NOBODY wants to be outside; Regardless, that's part of your job, & if you aren't willing to do your job in its ENTIRETY then find another job, but don't make things inconvenient for the customer just because YOU'RE too lazy to walk outside. In the end, there was no empathy from the staff upon dragging myself inside & missing a good 10-15 minutes of my tele-meeting in the process. I expressed my disappointment to the cashier & she just looked at me like "Oh well" (I'm 99% sure she was the one who answered when I called, although I didn't bother getting her name as I honestly just wanted to get my order & get out of there). Adding to the disappointment, I left only to find that instead of receiving the nice/warm yellow French Fries that I'm used to receiving here, I received some other type of fries with this HEAVY/hard orange batter all over them. The fries were hard/crunchy & NOTHING close what I'm used to receiving whenever I order French fries here. WHAT HAPPENED? I have yet to answer that question, & I'm unsure if I will ever be able to at this point. I've been very patient with this last issue, but it remains unresolved thus I'm including it here; What the heck happened to the SMOOTHIES? I used to LOVE ordering the "Strawberry Banana Bliss" Smoothie here, up until the point when some genius seemingly decided to remove it from the online menu (& at this point, I'm unsure if it's even on the in-store menu). Whatever the case, it was a favorite of mine & I can never seem to get a straight answer whenever I inquire as to why it can no longer be ordered. I'd LOVE being able to trust that my "curbside" pickup order will REMAIN a "curbside" pickup order next time (without someone at this location deliberately tampering with my order after the fact). I'd LOVE to order the French Fries & trust that I will receive the French Fries I'm used to receiving here (rather than this heavily-battered, hard/crunchy orange crap that was thrown at me last week). I'd LOVE to order the STRAWBERRY BANANA BLISS Smoothie that I ALWAYS used to order. I'm not sure why any competent human being would take one of the BEST menu items & completely remove it from the menu. I need Denny's to do better, especially this location (SERIOUSLY). If/when someone like myself complains like this, we're not doing it because we WANT to; We're doing it because we see the potential & it FRUSTRATES us to see that the potential is continuously being compromised as a result of things that are so easy to correct. read more

When we walked in at 2 PM on a Sunday, there were already a lot of people waiting. The host didn't acknowledge us at all, & was only focused on ringing up people's bills, after she did 3 bills in a row, she walked away, & didn't come back until 10 minutes later. We noticed that there was a waiting list, she we got someone else's attention & asked if we could be added to it. They never said sorry or apologized, which would have been nice. We then waited an additional 15 minutes until a waitress finally took our order. Also, the table seemed sticky & the floor under the table was dirty. Have had several issues with employees of this Denny's location. On October 1, 2018, went in to Denny's on 7th st and Camelback rd. and ordered coffee. Server took my order with a broomstick in server's hand. Moments later, this same server asked me to pass two syrup bottles on my table to the server. I was closer to the bottles of syrup than this server (bottles were near a glass window). I passed the bottles after hesitation. After my release of these syrup bottles, my hand became sticky. Server asked if I am ready to order. Though, server already took my order as my order was on table. I told this server of my sticky hand. I requested a towel for my sticky hand. I requested four sugar packets from this same server because there were no sugar packets left in a small container at the table I was sitting at. This server brought me ten sugar packets. There was no creamer on my table either. I asked for creamer. This same server brought a half glass of milk, telling me there is not more creamer. Creamer and milk are different, and I did not want milk. This server did not tell me creamer is absent from the restaurant until after the milk was brought. Server assumed milk would be alright. Server wasted half a glass of milk. Another day, I sat at the counter and ordered regular coffee. Server asked me if I wanted black coffee. I answered, "regular." Server asked me again, "black?" I mentioned I would like regular coffee. Coffee, to me is brown not black. Coffee came, placed close to an un-bussed bowl of cheddar cheese possibly from a previous order of a random customer. I mentioned cup was placed near bowl and did not want coffee. This location I noticed usually has two songs plays at the same moment as well. One song from the kitchen and one among the seating areas. Talk about stress. Mentioned this song issue to manager, manager would not silence one of the sources of songs. One day, got up from counter to relocate in restaurant to avoid hearing both songs at once, however, still able to hear both songs while sitting away from initial seated position at counter. Multiple transactions resulted with inaccurate receipts as well. For instance, top of receipt said "Customer Name:" and after the word "Name:" was a server who did not even serve me. Said customer name, not server name. ??..Ooook. I requested an accurate receipt to be reprinted, manager became angered, would not reprint because the restaurant was busy. On another day, printed receipt stated a server other than a server who served me on that day as well. I requested to speak to a manager, spoke to a man with a collared shirt. This man got me a reprinted accurate receipt, which was appreciated. read more

I was going to show a picture but I would have had to block out the picture for decency. After I told the staff about it, they did nothing. 30 min later when I left it was still left untouched. Invisible management and inexperienced staff. Waited for 20 mins at 1:00 to be seated. The hostess was ignoring everyone waiting to be seated (13 people) as she cashed out those waiting to leave. She did not stop and no one came to help though the small lobby was packed with those waiting and there were at least 6 visible waitresses. The manager was in the back ignoring the issue. He popped his head out and then immediately went back to his office. There were at least 17 empty tables that were available when we walked it. Finally got seated and ordered. The waitress didn't know what a French dip was (at Denny's?). And didn't know what a patty melt was either. We asked for another waitress. No plans to come back here anytime soon. read more

This place sucks!! The customers are rude and very pushy! The staff are so busy that they become easily flustered and come off as rude and short and struggle to maintain professionalism . The place is a complete mess--menus are smudged with grease and are sticky! The floor were wet and when the manager was alerted of water on the floor , he placed a cone over the water and left it-never bothered to mop it up. The floor was also scattered with food particles. The food was NOT GOOD-it was COLD.. plus the portions were small! Overall experience was not what I expected! There was once a time when Denny's on 7th was the place to go. When the service was fast and friendly-greeted with a smile, when the food was hot and decent-the prices were reasonable. Don't know what the hell happened to this place BUT will not return!! Worst food service ever, health code violations, manager refused to speak to anyone, or give a gift card for waiting 2 hours for frozen broccoli and cold undercooked food, that we couldent eat. Never brought out the babies food at all. We will be making a report to the department of health, and the phoenix police for fraud and false advertising, as well as corporate for the serious mismanagement, unprofessionalism and dirty work practices. So, I stopped going to Denny's for MANY years.. but a club I belong to has a meet there, so I decided to give it a go... VERY pleasantly surprised, they appear to have revamped the menu (in a good way) and the levels of service, cleanliness and food quality are certainly improved. I've tried a few different menu items now and have enjoyed them all - at a very reasonable price (and that is key here, we are talking value for money type deal, NOT high end), thoroughly recommend. read more
