We were just driving through the area on a 4,000 mile road trip and happened to stop here for breakfast! The diner has a cool 50's diner vibe. Our waitress was super sweet and accommodating. The food was delicious and served quickly!

Stopped here on a Sunday morning around 9am. Reminds me of an old school diner, with a projection screen inside playing I love Lucy. Was pretty quiet until about 930, starting getting really busy inside. The food had good flavors and was brought out pretty quickly. Awesome view of the city outside, and lots of parking.

Diner 50 will take you back in time with the 50's style diner and the amazing food. Walking in you will see the wonderful 50's style restaurant including TV shows, such as the Andy Griffith Show playing on tv. The service at the counter was great. I was provided many good options by the staff and absolutely loved what was suggested.

pretty good food but in an area that is kind of sketchy. The staff was super friendly and I did like the food for the price. I'm a big 50s guy, so I like the decor also.

Don't be an idiot. Come and eat here and leave in a happier place. Every part of this place hits the mark and then there's this added benefit of a kitty petting zone where you can go and pet them. The pancakes were AMAZING as were the burgers. The staff literally could not be nicer and the decor is retro fun. Great place for a date or a big family outing. I wish I didn't live 1500 miles away. I would be honored to be a regular at Diner 50.

Our favorite local diner, with the best coffee and shakes! Gabriel always gives the best and nicest service. We love the breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Very delicious and filling. You get a lot for your buck. The atmosphere is 50's theme and super cute , they always have I Love Lucy playing, my favorite! Overall a great dining experience.

Food was generous portions & so flavorful - I had the BLTA w/sourdough & my friend had the breakfast burrito that was the BOMB delish Daniel our server was very pleasant & stayed on top to top off our drinks and with the best smile. And the ambiance was so retro cool . 50's vibe AND THEN The adorable cut kitties next door were so fun We will be back!!!

What magic did they put in the gravy?! It's so flavorful and delicious! I ordered the biscuits and gravy and I am very pleased! Our waiter and waitress were absolutely welcoming, kind and friendly which I appreciate always. It sets the tone for a pleasant experience. As far as the ambiance, it definitely sets the intended vibe! I do wish there was some old school music playing in the background for some added feel but overall, I love it! Thank you Diner 50! Sending love from your New Indian Customer all they way from India :)

We were in the middle of driving on the highway to Sedona and just happened to search places in the area. At first the place looks like a hole in the wall. But we were quickly greeted and the great service continued the whole time. I went with a party of 5 and everyone thought the food was really good.

Super delicious food and amazing customer service! Recommend 100%

He mentioned a pickle martini, which I ordered at lunch and was very good. My wife ordered the welcome burger and enjoyed it except for them getting the toppings wrong. Our granddaughter really liked her mac and cheese and there was a generous serving of sliced fruit. And my Jose Burger had just enough spice and was very tasty. That what's the good. So we stopped here for lunch on a Friday about 12:30 with our 3-year-old granddaughter. Our initial server barely said two words to us and we felt like we were an imposition. When we ordered my wife asked did they have Pepsi or Coke products he said we have bottles and cans of everything, so she ordered a Coke. It was Mexican Coke which is fine, but $5, and it wasn't until we noticed other people had cans of regular Coke and realized he did not give us a choice. When we ordered our burgers, again he barely said two words and did not ask us how we wanted them cooked even though the menu says cook to order. When we got them they were very rare, see the picture, which we're okay with although we would have ordered them a little more done. My wife said no onions on hers, and of course there was onions on her berger. Later we were served by a waitress who was much more friendly and we realize was probably just not there yet when we sat down, so the initial waiter didn't really care what we thought since we weren't going to be his customers at the end. So sadly what could have been a very pleasant lunch was spoiled by the initial waiter, even though the food was good we may not be back.

Come Saturday evening, we thought our son would fly in early enough, on his way back from North Carolina, to take him to Lon's restaurant at the resort. Unfortunately, due to delays he was not able to make it to the resort until after ten. By that time, most restaurants are closed for the evening!!! After a quick search, apart from the traditional 24/7s, we spotted the 5 & Diner, and it was close enough to get there within ten minutes! When we drove up, we were mildly surprised, a little retro, a restaurant we are not used to...upon entering the establishment, the staff was prompt, friendly, and we were seated in a nice booth right away. Our server, Danielle A was extremely helpful with the menu items, wonderfully cheerful, prompt on our orders, and could not have been more attentive!!! The food was well prepared, hot, very flavorful, and timely!!! We were extremely surprised and found this restaurant checked all of the boxes...not to mention surprisingly reasonable!!! By the way, the air conditioner was set at a perfect temperature for the triple digits of Phoenix!!! We would go back again!!! Humbly and respectfully, FLK

All the ice cream sodas are wonderful, but their strawberry ice cream is my favorite by far. The Casablanca (strawberry ice cream and mango soda) is my go-to dessert. The servers are all extremely friendly and make sure your meal is out to you quickly. I've often had times when multiple people come over to check on me if my food is not out yet. The only downside is that it is a small space, so sometimes it can get pretty packed during busy hours. Despite that, though, I've never had to wait too long for a seat or a counter space. Really delicious food, cannot recommend enough!

If you have never heard of MacAlpine's, this is your chance to read on! Opened in 1929, it was…read moreoriginally called "Birch's Pharmacy" and true to most pharmacies back then, it had a soda fountain. Fast forward nine years to 1938, and Fred MacAlpine purchased it, renaming it for his namesake, and operating it as a full-service pharmacy and soda fountain until 1991. It was then purchased by a couple who still own it today and have kept it in as much of its original condition as possible, including the soda fountain, the counter, and the malt machine. When you park and walk to the front of the yellow building, you can't help but feel joy. The storefront windows, the antiques, all of it make you wonder just how far back in time you're going to travel. Once you've stepped foot inside and onto the checkered floor, you can't help but smile at the counter, all of the antiques from decades past, and the wait staff who wears 1950s uniforms. We slid into our wood booth with the tiny jukebox on the wall and immediately got to reviewing the extensive menu. Everything... and I mean EVERYTHING... looked good. Bonus: They have gluten-free bread! My husband chose the cheeseburger and I chose the turkey BLT (on gluten-free bread) - both were delicious! We then opted to share a mint chocolate chip milkshake that was created on the original 1940s machine - something that completed the experience. When we were done, we were fortunate enough to chat with Monica Heizenrader, co-owner of MacAlpine's wth her daughter. She is a very kind woman who is very passionate about keeping the history of this diner alive, even taking to selling antiques (in the other rooms of the building) to help support the upkeep. However, with rising costs and some family challenges, it's getting tough. She was proud to have kept this going as long as she and her family have and even mentioned some of the more notable people that have stepped into the diner over the decades, including Barry Goldwater (a regular), Joan Ganz Cooney (one of the creators of Sesame Street), Frank Lloyd Wright, Aunt Maud, Marshall Good, Wayne Newton (who was discovered by a talent scout there), and more!
