Any other service shop would have just replaced starter and charged me an extra $700.00 but Hamlin and Sons tried something different, carefully disassembled cable, cleaned post and voila, starter repaired. I came in to get my battery swapped. (My husband bought the new battery and jumped my old battery…read moreso I could drive it to the shop.) Took about 45 minutes (not sure how many other customers were they servicing at the same time, but it seemed quiet. I arrived around 9:20am, I paid by 10am and was in my car driving away by 10:20am. A bunch of other customers came in around 9:30-9:45am. The waiting area is large and comfortable, with lots of different seating options (various chairs with arm rests, comfy chairs, benches, a couch, ottoman, etc ) complete with a coffee station (Cafe Bustelo) & chocolates. There is a television where they play Netflix, feels like someone's living room. They also have a play area for children (lots of different toys good for infants and toddlers), a small table and a chalkboard. Perfect for keeping young children occupied for a lengthy wait if necessary- which was helpful as I had my 2.5 year old with me and she had a great time playing with the toys. I paid $60 for the swap, which was $20 more than I was quoted at some other places but honestly the convenience of the waiting area was well worth it. They checked to make sure that it wasn't my alternator causing any issues. They were very nice. I would come back again (but hopefully I don't need to!)

Had a horrible experience at Skytop. We needed work done on our car. The transmission went out on…read moreus. It hesitated when the light turned green then wouldn't shift. We managed to limp the car home. Having been to Skytop a number of years back and happy with the service and pricing I decided to go back there even having been told by others not to and that they're very shady over there. I should have listened. We get home and I schedule an appointment for their earliest time slot which was about 5 days away. I explain what the issue was to the girl on the phone and she said basically no problem and would I need a tow? I thought I would so I said yes. Asked about the price and she gave me a tow price of $150 for only a couple miles town in town. We decided against it the day of the schedule. We get the car there. Drop it off and talk to another girl. Maybe the same one? She takes some more info and I talk about the tranny again. She takes down some notes. I then ask if they can take a look at the tire. One tire has a slow leak. She said well we can look at it but they don't do tire repair and to take it to another shop. Um... what? So whatever. We leave and she advised if they don't get to it today it will be the first one tomorrow morning. Ok fine. The next morning I receive a text message with a laughable inspection report. Regarding the transmission... "Possible transmission work needed - Take to a transmission shop." So naturally I call and question this. The girl on the phone said she can't help and quickly transferred me to the service department where another girl answered. I asked her to explain and she advised that their transmission guy left about a year ago and they no longer work on transmissions. UM SO WHY DID YOU TAKE THE CAR AND WASTE MY TIME?! Obviously at this point I'm prepping to go get the car and take it somewhere else. In the process of making those plans I get a text message from someone blaming me and telling me I was told on the initial call that they couldn't promise they could work on it but that they may have someone that could do the job.... yeah no thank you. Something's not quite right and since I was told they don't do transmission work I can't trust this. Who's this person that they may or may not know that may or may not be available for service? How is that anyway to treat a customer???? Naturally at this point I'm frustrated. So I declined and went and picked up the car. Never again with Skytop! I wouldn't have my lawnmower serviced there.
