I did not want to report this to my insurance company to have my rates increase for an accident I did not cause. The first quote I got from a local shop in West Hartford was for $2,000 to fix the repairs (keep in mind the book value of the car is $3500) After telling the second shop that I really only wanted the bare bones done to make the car functional as I was going to pay out of pocket and planning to give it to my daughter who is turning 16 this year, they quoted me $3000 to get the car "functional." I then took it to T&J where they quoted me $890! Thats a huge difference! They were willing to work with me, listened to what I was looking for and offered GREAT service. They were able to find used parts which saved me money which the other shops didnt seem willing to do. I dropped the car off in the morning and they had a shuttle to bring me to and from work, and they were EARLY and waiting for me to pick me up from my office after work! My car looks much better and is now safe for the road thanks to the team at T & J Auto. It is family owned and operated as well which is really nice. It is a rarity to find an honest, customer service oriented team in the auto repair work field in my experience and these guys delivered. Then, I noticed what looked like peeling on the hood and front of the car. The Toyota-applied clear coat was coming off , My car was starting to look so bad. A few people gave me names of local auto body shops No one wanted to touch my car because I had not been in an auto accident!! They explained their reasons to me, which of course, were all about money and insurance claims. I was, of course, going to pay for any work but, shame on me, I did not have an accident. Just wanted to fix to the clear coat and have effected areas of my car re-painted. Finally, I was given the name Brothers auto body in Cromwell. Problem solved! My car was beautifully repainted and new clear coat applied. It looks spectacular! No hesitation to give me a reasonable quote, no rejection because I did not have an accident. After having the truck for 2.5 weeks we picked it up after being told "the truck is safe, I would let my kids drive it". No sooner did we drive TWO MINUTES down the road the truck broke down. This was right after my son paid $1700 to have fixed. Called the shop and Ruben didn't care anymore he got his money. The other owner came and pulled the truck back to the shop. Long story short after two more times we took the truck . Halfway home the engine light was back on and the truck was leaking oil and tranny fluid. Brought it to the shop and they couldn't believe the work. Wrong radiator was used so they put connectors. They were leaking. The brake line was wrong and the list goes on. THE BIGGES THING.... THE WELDING WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. IF MY SON HIT 3 LARGE BUMPS THE TRUCK WOULD HAVE FALLEN APART! we kept them posted and they asked for a receipt. No problem. It was provided and that was it....they have ignored us. We posted a Google review and they deleted it. They are awful! We are now going to take them to smalls claims court and are reporting them to DMV AND the department of consu.er protection. DONT DO BUSINESS. HERE.

It rained and I saw the leak wasn't fix so I called them back. He told me it was probably the residual water from the tests they ran but if I wanted, I could bring my car back in for him to check it out. A week after dropping it off I asked how much longer it would be and they hadn't even touched my car yet. At that point I needed my car to get to work so I picked it up and didn't have the time or money to bring it in for a third time. They never pulled up the carpet to see the source of the leak... He didn't play up how critical the issue was to pressure me into having it fixed right then. Not many mechanics I've been to in the past would have been that honest. I asked him to do everything on the car while I was there to make sure it was safe for my college aged son to drive and it all totaled $414. I saved a few thousand by coming here. I noted that every guy that came in was a 50-70 year old local who had obviously been taking their cars there for years. This is now my go-to auto place. They were courteous, respectful, very quick and thorough. They repaired my Subaru, worked with the insurance company ( the value of the quote) and made it look as if nothing had happened to it. They even detailed inside of my car and replaced the cover on the driver side seat that I told them that would pay out of pocket for because it was not part of the accident but they fixed it anyways with no charge. Steven Litwin is the shop Foreman and handled everything professionally and was very pleasant to work with. I hope my car is never damaged again but if it is it will only go to Steben's.
