Throughout all procedures I have had over the 15 years or more with her as my dentist, she has explicitly explained her diagnosis, gone over step-by-step procedures, informed me of post care procedures I should expect & do, and personally checks how my recovery is going. Before, during , after all procedures, she makes sure that all my questions & concerns are addressed. She makes sure I don't feel any pain or discomfort (fixes that immediately), and best of all, she is attentive, sensitive, and has a gentle touch. She empathizes with how I am feeling throughout each of my procedures. In fact, she knows I get tired of opening my mouth. Therefore, she gives me mini-breaks. I feel assured sitting in a very comfortable chair (when needed, she provides heated soft blankets), and even offering a beverage before a procedure. If that's not enough, I get to choose a movie and watch it during the procedure. Talking about keeping your mind away from stress & "fear of pain."I believe she goes above and beyond what is "the norm" of being a dentist! Dr. Sharma examined it, suggested deep cleaning and mentioned it would help. I went ahead with the suggestion. i felt better. However it did not last long. Next week I had a severe tooth ache again. When I talked to Dr. Sharma this time she suggested to go see a surgeon for wisdom tooth removal. But my current year's insurance was already charged for deep cleaning!! Which was not required. Doctor already saw the x-ray, knew it had to be extracted. Cleaning was done because dental comfort wanted to make some quick $$. I ended up going to a surgeon and spend money out of pocket without insurance. I suggest run away from an unethical business like dental comfort and do not look back. People are so RIGHT about Shama's greed to suck out all the money in your insurance. She will create cavities on your teeth that don't exists so she can bill $400 for each filling that takes 30 seconds to fill. She will ask you to come for cleaning and then she will find cavities and ask you for a follow up and then do x-rays so she can gobble up $2000 per person per year. Every person needs deep cleaning per her so she can bill more. During year end she will double and triple book patients to extract every dollar and the wait times will be an hour plus. I had gone there first and did a basic deep cleaning and couple of cavity fillings at the suggestion of the Dentist and the cost was around 340$...after couple of months my wife went there for check up and they suggested same ( deep cleaning + couple of cavity filling) and now the cost was 490$!...with same insurance! I went for my 6-month cleaning yesterday and now I'm looking for a Fremont or Newark female dentist again. The last one, Dr. Sharma, attempted to tell me I had no choice but to follow her suggestions. I told her that I always have a choice. It felt to me as if she were attempting to squeeze more money from me. Dr. Sharma sure did a good job of re-veneering my front tooth last December. I should have gotten the hint then when she told me I needed to wear a guard to protect the newly veneered tooth. I responded honestly that I wouldn't wear it even if I bought it. Dr. Sharma spent nearly an hour explaining why I needed to get a deep cleaning, even though, from the beginning, I looked into her eyes and told her I didn't want a deep cleaning. I listened when she asked me. She, also, told me that I have periodontitis. She's the first dentist to mention this to me although, if this is true, I've must have had for years and no other dentist mentioned it to me.. Then, the straw that broke the camel's back, a staff member attempted to ask for over $150 more than I was quoted two months ago. Maybe some people would go for it, but not I. I got up before the cleaning, took my checkbook from my purse in order to pay for the X-ray I'd received, and told the dentist that I wound not be returning. She said I need not pay for the X-ray. It's been a whirlwind but I can stress how stress free it's all been, i've had several cleanings, 3 stems, 1 broken tooth and 4 teeth removed, a plate created, prescription toothpaste, a water pick, natural mouth wash, and an electric toothbrush later i can say my teeth are as healthy as they've ever been. I came for another edit a year later. Went to a new dentist and, what do you know, no periodontal disease, no bone problems and no deep cleaning needed. I hope Dental Comfort and its staff have a sudden attack of conscience and go out of business or stop money grubbing. -- I went back and edited my review after my husband received treatment and I got the bill directly from my insurance provider. I don't doubt I needed a deep cleaning. But when my husband (who has never had a cavity) went in and they told him he needed a deep cleaning and had THREE cavities when a dentist a year before decided to fill all the trouble spots so that wouldn't happen, that was my first red flag. And then I received the bill directly from my insurance provider. Dental Comfort instructed me to pay $400 out of pocket, but gave me $200 off for writing a review and referring someone. And now I know why they are so quick to give money off. The bill directly from my insurance provider instructed that I should have only paid $147 instead of $400! And my husband was instructed to pay $350, but the bill stated $165! DO NOT LET DENTAL COMFORT OVERCHARGE YOU! They obviously love to get more money than they need. Also, every time I have gone in, Dr. Sharma is ALWAYS yelling at her assistants with patients in the waiting room! In short, if you go to this dentist and they say you need a deep cleaning, GET A SECOND OPINION! It's sad, but the inside of my head is a bit like a 5 year old's who is at the. I'm scared. I want to go home. I want my mommy... ok, perhaps that last part is a bit much, but I can say that when I was there this morning and heard a child wailing like a banshee, I could only think that this is the noise I would be making if societal norms would allow. Alas, I'm 48 and am supposed to act grown up in such situations. Dont scream, Annette. Dont cry! Dr Sharma and her team help me to this end though. Not only are they fantastic at what they do with teeth, but they really put me at ease with their spa-like approach. When you first go to these people they'll let you rate what is important to you. Do you scare easily? Hate pain? Want to know exactly what's going on? Rate and rank these things and they'll tailor-make an experience that is most suitable to you. Me? I like being treated like the 5 year olds. I want some juice, a nice DVD of fish slowly swimming in front of me. Oh yeah, and a blanket (usually I bring my own - along with my squeezy stress elephant). They even think of the little stuff too -- for example, I have a tiny mouth (think goldfish) and having my jaw jacked open for a long time is gruelling. They sense this and will occasionally remove the instruments for a few seconds in order to massage my jaws. It's unnecessary, but I'm totally grateful at the time. Not only is Dr Sharma great, but her staff are too. Dont get me wrong, it's not disney land there. People who are there are there to get their teeth pulled/drilled/cleaned etc. She does it and I always come out of her office with better chompers as a result. (Dont tell her I said this -- but I also like it that she's hard on me -- once she knows i'm ok, she will get serious and read me the riot act. My teeth are a mess and I need someone who will kick my butt and not sugar coat the situation. (mmmmmmm sugar!) Worst dentist!!! My kid went there few years back and was in my todo list to write review. The doctor kept doing regular cleaning without telling much. One day she told that you need to visit another doctor as they don't specialize in filling the cavity of a toddler. She told this until it become really serious and we were told that they don't specialize in pediatric dentistry. Why on earth they could not convey the gravity of the situation and kept us waiting and doing just regular cleaning! Finally the little child had to go through anesthesia to fix the cavity. Dr. Sharma suggests deep cleaning for every patient and want to cover the complete insurance amount $$ for current and future years.And the advice I got post examination was like I am going to lose all my teeth if I don't go for deep cleaning .Absolute bad way of marketing . This place is so busy that it has become just way too stressful to visit this place anymore. Dr. Sharma makes you feel terrible about your teeth, smile and what not! A place where you go and be depressed at least for the rest of the day. It is like they run assembly line there. Not getting the attention and "care" patients deserve. Dr. Sharma may be a good dentist but she has lost the "care" part...she forgets what she suggested, or what problem she herself detected during previous visit. The office staff are so accommodating and friendly, and Dr. Sharma and her team always leave us comfortable knowing that we are getting the best dental advice and treatment possible. True stories: On the very first visit, one dentist I went to asked me if I was happy with my smile. I told her I was, and she had me hold a mirror up to my mouth and proceeded to point out everything that made my smile unattractive, and how I should fix it. Not a great self esteem boost. Another dentist told me I had something like 12 cavities that needed to be filled. I was naive enough to believe her and ended up paying in the thousands for all the work she said I needed, but now I am sure I did not. Another took out a large chunk out of my tongue and didn't see fit to tell me about it. I discovered it in the car, as the novocaine was wearing off and it was starting to hurt like helicopter, and I looked in the mirror to find a gaping, bleeding tongue wound. The same dentist would roll her eyes and sigh as I yelped in pain during nearly every procedure, as she did not numb me well enough, ever (except, apparently, for that time she hacked off a piece of tongue). I have more, many more dental horror stories from my relatively short life that I could share, but I'll spare you. Frankly, I had no faith that Dr. Sharma of Dental Comfort would be any different when I made my first appointment with her for a check-up. But she is very different, as is her practice. She and her staff make sure that you are comfortable (drinks available, blanket to hold onto, movies to watch while your dental work is being done) and secure. She is very honest and straightforward about what is going on with your mouth, and she seeks to work with you on a plan to take care of any dental issues you might have. In addition, she doesn't beat around the bush about billing, but is very open about how much something will cost, and how much your insurance will cover. Dr. Sharma is very good with kids, even very young ones, and doesn't push them out of their comfort zone (read: traumatize them for future visits). After a lifetime of horrible dentists, I am thrilled to have found one for myself and my family who truly does care, and I would be very sad to ever have to leave her practice. read more

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW. The quality and delivery of this dental office is high. The staff is wonderful. The dentist is a nice person. However, I'm not happy with what I've been observing in terms of pressuring people for dental services. Be prepared, no matter your age, dental condition or wealth, to be pressured into: 1) A deep cleaning (if you need it, get it, but if you don't, dont!) 2) Night guards While I did really need a deep cleaning, I have heard on every single one of my visits and have read in these reviews that patients are getting pressured to get deep cleanings or night guards. How is it that everyone who walks into this office needs either service? It's not possible. Here is the issue. I paid $275 for my deep cleaning when it is 100% COVERED BY MY INSURANCE. Why? Because I didn't take the care to call my insurance and ask about this dental office. They are what's called a PREMIER Dentist, so they take your 100% coverage and turn it into 80% because their prices are higher. My fault for not checking with insurance, but they told me "your insurance doesn't cover it 100%." No, that's not correct. My insurance does, it's your prices that exceed normal insurance limits. My new dentist is so extremely honest, that by comparison, I just have to knock off stars for the practice of this dental office. Please check your insurance and save your hard earned money. And if you don't want night guards, don't get them. $700 is not a joke and no one, ever, should be pressured for cosmetic services. 'Cause my teeth are nice dangit. read more
