The lady that she spoke to took her insurance information, and said she would contact the insurance and then call back. She phoned back and said the out of pocket cost would be $25. But later when it was time to pay, my daughter was charged $118 -- that's in addition to the $145 that the insurance was expected to pay. When we phoned Dr Magruder's office to discuss the unexpectedly high charge, the lady said that she would not have given any cost estimate since they are out of network, which was simply not true. The visit itself was fine, the staff were nice, and that's why I am giving two stars instead of just one. My complaint is solely about the bill.

If you do the math that is $1950 so I would have been paying for the braces completely out of my own pocket and they still were going to charge my insurance. So, this place is committing insurance fraud. They tried me and I caught it and they did it to my girl years ago and she caught it. Its all about getting as much money from you as they can. I do not recommend going here and if you do, pay very close attention to your bill and have them submit a predetermined bill to your insurance company so they can tell you exactly how much you'll pay out of your pocket.

I was charged one amount for my treatment, and three years later I am suddenly being told that the bill has changed and that I owe additional money. That is completely unacceptable and feels very misleading. The dental work itself was also a major concern. A filling was done on my tooth, and I ended up having problems with that tooth afterward. Even more concerning, when they began drilling, the dental light was not working properly. I was extremely uncomfortable with the situation and could not believe they proceeded with treatment under those conditions. The overall condition and professionalism of the office also left a lot to be desired. The facility appeared poorly maintained and did not give me confidence that I was receiving the quality of care I expected from a dental practice. Between the questionable billing, the problems with my dental work, and the condition of the office, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion and carefully reviewing your billing before paying anything.

I'm traveling, so I could not stay for the Crown procedure, but I was advised to get it done when I return home back in Wisconsin. The Dentist here in Galveston did such a great job by repairing the remaining part of the tooth and building it up, and filling the holes. Zero pain throughout the procedure, zero pain now, and a perfect bite. I give the Galveston Mint Dentistry my highest recommendation. I wish they would move or open an office up by the Wisconsin Dells.

I had a tooth cleaning at this periodontist, because I was not okayed to return to my dentist in Galveston, to a tune of $172. As a person on disability, I am never charged for cleanings. "Oh well, you're out-of-network", I was told by the office staff of the periodontist. Dr Manuele/Schiedler is a worthless dentist. I will never return to this office as long as I live.

Thankfully, Today's Dentistry was able to get me in the same day--and I'm so glad they did. Dr. Cuong and Sam went above and beyond, staying over 2 hours past closing to make sure everything was done properly and that I was completely taken care of. Not only did they handle the root canal flawlessly, but they also took care of a neighboring tooth with a crown and a filling to make sure everything is set up perfectly for my next visit. The entire experience was completely pain-free--even the numbing shots, which honestly surprised me. The whole team was incredibly kind and attentive. Tara at the front desk even let me use her phone charger when my phone was about to die, which just shows the level of care they provide. The office itself is beautiful and uses top-of-the-line equipment. I also really appreciated their transparency with billing--they show worst-case scenario pricing upfront so there are no surprises, and they actively work to reduce your costs wherever possible. I'm genuinely blown away by the level of service I received. I'll be transferring all of my dental care here moving forward. 10/10--highly recommend!

Dr. Blankenship and his staff worked me in that morning, which was a pleasant surprise. He diagnosed the problem and referred me to an endodontist for a root canal, which --amazingly--I was able to get done that same day. I went back to Shoreline for a crown, and was amazed at how quickly and painlessly that procedure was. Overall, my experience with this office has been superb. It is very clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It is an efficiently functioning clinic with modern equipment. I feel confident in recommending treatment here for anyone.

I called 6 times during 1-1:30pm to reschedule and got voicemail each time; yeah it's a Monday BUTT, that's no excuse not to answer the phone. They called back at 2:15; they were at lunch during the hours I called. Voicemail doesn't reflect that information so, that would of been good to know. First impressions and all. May 15, 2026 Friday…read more Been going to this dentist since 2021; no issues until this year. Love Dr Pickering but she now only works part time, Wednesday and Thursdays, so it's become harder and harder to see her therefore, I decided to find another dentist. On May 4th, I spoke to office staff, Heather and requested my dental records be sent to another local dentist. She said she would email them digitally. As of today, May 15th, the new dentist still has not received my records thru the mail or thru an email. Secondly, I got a bill for $120 so before calling dentist, I call Delta Dental insurance only to find out that Dr Pickering is out of network, wait...WHAT? I wasn't ever informed of that. These two services (X-rays-teeth cleaning) have always been FREE and covered each year with Delta Dental. And, I've had DD since 2012. Soo, now, it's time to call Pickering's office. I call during off hours, to leave a voicemail. However, on that VM, it states you can text a 346 number, so I did. I sent a text on Monday May 11th hoping they'd get back to me on their open days of Wednesday or Thursday; they did not. I texted again on Friday, May 15th, still no response, so I CALL Pickering's office to leave another voicemail but a man answers so, I apologized because I thought I had the wrong number. I redialed. He answers again and says, you've got the right number, but it's my wife you need. I said, oh ok. And I hear a lady in the background say "gimme the phone, this is Heather," i said, hi this is Melissa but she cut me off and proceeded to defend herself as to why she hasn't gotten back to me; she's busy, she's got 3 small kids etc... Because she sounded agitated, I told her (calmly) that I was concerned over the lack of communication regarding getting billed, because it's been 5 business days since I texted, AND secondly, the new dentist has still not gotten my dental records requested on May 4th. She became loud saying that she snail mailed my dental records the same day i requested them and she doesn't know why they haven't gotten them, etc I said, you told me you sent them digitally, she denied that. I asked if I could come by and get them? She said she doesn't have them because they were mailed but, she's going to write off the billing charges because she's tired of dealing with me. Ooh-kay! You sure right, lady. I said, thank you and hung up. I'M DONE with this dentist office because of Heather. I'm done because of the limited business hours. No longer recommend it.

I have traveled and lived in other countries since I was 2 in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Third World countries denistry not good. So I have deep fears of going to the dentist. Not once have I ever felt pain or had fear of Galveston Family Dentistry. Dr Pickering is very thorough and to the point. Her assistant is one of the best when it come to cleanings. Even the front desk is very sweet and concerned to my needs. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.
