I do not recommend this dentist. Over a year after treatment, they are telling me I owe another $700 that the insurance didn't cover. If I had known that from the start, I would not have had the procedure done. The dentist left a hard white substance on my teeth that is still here to this day! He was not very professional, and I will not be going back, neither will my son. read more

April 26, 2021 3:30 appointment...no where to park. Even the overflow parking spots full. Parked a block away. Busy day here Seen dentist at 4:15p... the one thing about this dental office is...you probably will not get the same dentist twice in the same year...one reason, there's several and two...they revolve through here like a carousel. I've never seen the same one unless, I've had to come back for a procedure. Had to gargle for 5 minutes before cleaning...that's worrisome to me???!! Why? Had a dentist I've never seen before do cleaning...(hygienist out today) he had no help with the sucky thing so I was drowning LOL! He hit a nerve with the hook thingy; glad to be numbed! An assistant showed up to help him about 5 minutes into it. Yeah! Funny thing...this dentist said...you're teeth are pretty white (background--my teeth are considered gray/translucent in color and do not take to whitening methods) Anyway, he said my teeth are white but, my crown is...really white. This is NOT about medical care. Instead it's about billing practices. Last week I made an appointment with Broadway Dental in Galveston after they assured me that they would accept my dental insurance. The appointment was for a checkup and cleaning. Upfront they charged $319 and told me I would have to file for reimbursement. Had x-rays and waited 45 minutes. When I asked when the cleaning would start I was told that the $319 was only for x-rays and if the Dr. said I needed a cleaning it would be extra. Now I know that my insurance would not have negotiated such a high amount for just x-rays so I'm wondering if what they would do with the difference. They didn't offer to refund the difference between what I paid and the reimbursed amount. What's the point of accepting insurance if you still have to pay upfront? read more

So far so good, not negative at all. I was a bit scared at first, I'm a new GalTx working resident of a year, (native Houstonian), but coworker recommended and I went Thru w/it. Price was doable for 2 front crowns, first time ever for me but desperately needed. Staff spoke English, which was great, except for Clara but was a great assistant and helpful at the temp crown application. This temp crown is awkwardly strange for me. It's all just weird having a temp puddy like feeling stuff on my 2 front teeth. Going back and will follow up. Dr Andy is just such a sweet heart and hard working ,,,returning next month (kind of scared bc hope at the final crown application, that it'll feel more natural) and not look like Bugs Bunny!!! read more

I married into this place since my husband went here. On the first visit, I waited more than half an hour After my appointment time just to get in a chair. When I asked if this was common, the ladies assured me it was not. The same thing happened on the next TWO visits. They gave me a SonicCare toothbrush to make up for it, but I still went in search of another dentist. Unfortunately, I was working so far away that it was difficult to find a good appointment time and I was resigned to stick with Broadway, which had all kinds of availability. Cue Dr. Hoang. She was kind, courteous, and smart, and is the reason for the extra star but I suspect she's also the reason I was constantly in and out of there. We had their preferred insurance provider & plan. Almost every visit ended with the suggestion to get something else done. "I'll call your insurance to see how much they cover of this procedure but let's go ahead and get you down. When would be a good day for you?" It took a few fillings and a crown for me to catch on because she was so dang personable. In the 25 years before Broadway, I happily went to the dentist. However, the unnecessary time spent reclined with the blood rushing to my head, them bumping into the head rest as they rolled around in their chairs, that bite blocker a.k.a The Jaw Popper, and the pressure to do procedures have made me all wimpy and gimpy about going to the dentist. read more

Do not waste your time! Let me preface this by saying literally EVERY person i meet always make comments about how perfect and pretty my teeth are. The first visit I was there for nearly two hours while they tried to figure out my insurance. I finally left and made an appointment for another day. Second, visit I was charged a copay, even though my policy states zero copay. Whatever I paid it because I it was time for a cleaning (i am new to the island and need a dentistand this place is the only office on the island who accepts my insurance) .Had x-rays then, rather than having the cleaning and the dentist coming to do the exam and go over the x-rays, the dentist came to do the exam. She said I had numerous cavities and that I had several "fillings" that needed to be replaced. (I have never had a cavity in my life, in fact i have dental sealants to prevent them, what this "dr" was calling fillings are actually sealants). She also said i have gum disease and tartar build up... yet I have zero symptoms or issues... They refused to just do a regular cleaning even though i was willing to sign a liability waiver rejecting their treatment plan. Instead they kept trying to get me to sign it. If you have insurance beware of this place! Everything about this screams insurance scam! I have spoken to numerous coworkers who have told me they have experienced the same issue with this office and those that allowed them to do work now have irreversible damage to their teeth. I wish someone had warned me prior to signing up for a plan that requires me to use this facility. I will dump my insurance and pay out of pocket before I let these scam artists mess up my teeth! read more

I have been going to this dental practice since my daughter was small. She experiences anxiety with dentists because of a pediatric dentist who strapped her down for all treatments, and when we went to this dentist she was very afraid. However, Dr. Monique was wonderful addressing this issue! She made my daughter feel at ease, and she has done the same for me when I've needed dental work. She is very patient and kind, and she is great at what she does! Today I had an issue with my temporary crown crumbling, and they fit me in right away (on a Friday!). Dr. Monique saw me herself, because she knows I suffer from anxiety as well, and introduced me to her dental assistant Carla who would be repairing the temp crown. Carla did an amazing job, and the tooth feels better than it did before it got broken! They have gained lifelong patients with us because of their wonderful bedside manner and top notch dental work. They do not wear masks and will refuse to put one on if you ask them to. They speak bad about their clients in Spanish assuming that we don't speak Spanish. They will also try to scam you out of every cent to your name. Make sure you ask for a price quote BEFORE you schedule an appointment and don't sign anything without reading it. Tripped over my dog and face planted in the street. Knocked front tooth so far out of place that I couldn't even shut my mouth. It was also badly chipped along with other teeth around it. Spent the morning at the ER to make sure nothing was fractured, and then my regular dentist wouldn't see me even given the emergency. Broadway dental to the rescue. Iris at the front desk was amazing and able to get me an appointment that same afternoon. Dr Monique was able to reposition the tooth, fill the chips, and made sure all my teeth were working well together. Saved my tooth and the day. read more

Accidents happen, and this time my 6-unit bridge broke and left a gap in my face you could drive a bus through, and I was on vacation w/13 others. I called Broadway Dental and they got busy on my repairs. They were straight-up friendly and honest, and there was no up-sell attempts, no scare tactics; just good business, and great work! Unfortunately the bridge came back out because my toothy support system had gotten old and it's time for implants. Besides that, I showed back up the next day: no wait, no hassle, and they fixed me up again, no charge! Well, were do I start . My appointment was @4pm and I decided to come in 30min early so i could get it done. I did not get called in until 4:50pm.... sat on the dent chair for another hour before anyone realized they hadn't got to me! The only reason I stayed was because i had paid already and I was told it would be best to wait. This dental office OVERBOOKS patients and does not have the addecuate personnel to take care of patients. Front desk ladies don't have the experience necessary to run a dental practice. I will be taking my dental needs to another practice and never look back to this bad experience. I had a dental emergency today and have not established care with a dentist since moving to Galveston. I called Broadway Dental and they were so polite and told me to come in right away, they would work me in. Once I got there the front office staff was so helpful and compassionate that I was in pain. Mary Lou quickly got me registered and explained prices. Once I was taken back for X-rays and Dr. Andy let me know what needed to be done, it moved forward from there. Everyone kept apologizing to me for the wait and I was thinking how considerate that was, especially since I was put in at such a last minute. I had to have a tooth extracted and Felicia went over everything with me in detail about post op care. I felt terrible letting my tooth get this bad but she made me feel so much better. The extraction by Dr. Andy was PAINLESS, he was so gentle I didn't feel a thing. I am happy to say I have now found a new dental office in Galveston and won't go anywhere else. I'm writing this review on behalf of my girl friend who is too polite to write it herself. Two experiences with this practice: The first was for a general consultation where all the dentists went to lunch together and one sent her food back delaying all of their return to the office as patient's built up delaying everyone's appointment by hours. The second and far more egregious offense was when she actually showed up for her scheduled outpatient appointment to have her wisdom teeth extracted. This is a procedure that requires you not to eat or drink anything all day beforehand and arrange for a ride afterward because you get anesthesia. She showed up for her appointment on time and they told her they were running an hour late and to come back. So she came back an hour later and they told her she was late. They then took a walk in patient in front of her. As she sat and waited in the office for THREE HOURS past her appointment, they didn't even realize she was waiting. After three hours she finally left, scheduling an appointment with another dentist - to have her INFECTED WISDOM TEETH REMOVED - and they gave her a hard time about getting a refund as she had paid in advance. Incredibly unprofessional. Poor patient care. I question how these people are even running a business. Unbelievably poor and shocking service. We will never be back. read more

They never pronounce my name correctly, even though I have repeatedly told them what it is and explained that it make me uncomfortable to have people with drills in my mouth who don't know my name. It's more comforting when they at least pretend to know who I am. The last time I went there was a roach crawling across my bag in the room where all the dental tools are. I NEVER do reviews! I always think someone is doing it in the heat of the moment & totally ticked. I was not angry, but more baffled by my experience & have waited a week & debated about reviewing, but felt this time was necessary as I didn't even get in the door before met with a problem & rudeness. Semi-new to the area, my dental office closed down & just getting a new insurance company, after a couple of recommendations, decided to try Broadway Dental out & gave them a call on a Thursday morning. Amazingly I was able to get an appointment the following Monday afternoon for a cleaning & X-rays, but had plans to speak with them about a couple of issues I was having. Late Friday afternoon I received a call from the office (a different person than who made my appt, took all of my info & assured me they accepted my insurance)stating that Broadway Dental does NOT contract with my insurance that the girl who made my appt made a mistake(though they are clearly on the list). The reason they gave is because my Insurance Co. does NOT ever pay their portion of the insured's bill & she cancelled my appt. Upon checking with my insurance co. about the "issue" that was stated as this is new insurance to me & now I'm nervous, and also I now have to change my assigned facility and find out how long of a wait period there is, I'm informed that it has to do with my type of dental coverage as there are certain restrictions at certain offices, NOT because the company doesn't payout as she stated! So when I called back to clarify about that I was then told it would be much easier for them if I were a UTMB employee. In what world does that make sense and do you say that to a prospective 1st time patient? If that's who they want to cater to, great, they should advertise that instead of making up lies, playing the blame game & being rude! I'm even having a hard time giving them 1 star, but HAVE to per requirements! LBVS! In then end I must say I'm actually glad this happened (everything happens for a reason) because I ended up exactly where I needed to be for my dental care which was NOT Broadway Dental! I wouldn't lie whole staff was great except the one with the mole on her lip. She got upset because I politely told her that my son wasn't having done what she explained because the Dr said differently she went on to call me crazy in front my kids screamed she would quit & walked past me closely as to bump me after I asked her not to speak to my child in that tone. I'm not sure why there have been so many negative reviews in the past. I came here when I was new to the island, and one of my fillings came out. This wasn't the first time that this filling has come out, as it's in an area that is difficult to reach and my prior dentists have said that it's a technically difficult procedure. I called their office after the filling came out, and needed an urgent appointment in order to prevent further decay. They were able to schedule me in the next couple of days, and my whole experience couldn't have gone better. Everyone seemed friendly, I didn't have to wait too long, and it was one of my better experiences at the dentist. read more

This place is a scam. Just like one of the reviews said, I came in for a cleaning and before they even did my cleaning they claimed I had 12 cavities. Yup, 12! I've never had a cavity in my life! Plus they said I needed a deep cleaning of my gums (which included numbing of my mouth)! All in all I would have had to come five times and pay over $1500 (and that's with insurance)! Needless to say, I left and am never going back! I went to a different, private dentist on the island (Dr. Colombo) who said I didn't have ANY cavities! I had one tooth that needed to be filled just in case, but even that wasn't deep. I tried reporting these people to the American dentistry association and will keep trying until they stop scamming people and ruining healthy teeth! read more

I am new to the Island and am timid of the dentist; I was referred to Broadway Dental by a friend. I was most definitely pleased with the service they provided me, everyone from the front desk staff, dentist and her assistant were very nice. My daughter went to see Dr. Monique Hoang. My daughter was very afraid of dentist as due to previous dental work where they hurt me and her. Which Monique Hoang is not her real name her real name is Nguyet Hoang so if you try to look up her on the Academy of General Dentistry make sure you look her real name. Monique Hoang will not show up. The took x ray's and called me back I go back there and she's crying. Monique told her that everything's going to be OK and she would not hurt her. She wanted to do all four wisdom teeth that day told me to take her and get something for her to eat because she won't be able to eat for awhile. I asked if they were too infected she said it would be ok. They came in with the cost of the extractions which was 651.60. I didn't have the money that day because the banks were closed because it was Columbus day. She gave my daughter antibiotics and pain pills we went and got them filled and returned the next day. My daughter was very nervous.. I told her it would be OK she said she wouldn't hurt her. I pay them 100.00 dollars for a deposit to lock her appointment in. Then the day of her appointment we check in with the front desk they tell me that the total I needed to pay would be 599.00 so now its 699.00 now. I ask why and they said they didn't explain that to you. I said no, well you daughter signed it and because she was so upset and crying then she didn't hear it. OK I payed for all 4 wisdom teeth to be extracted. She signs a statement about anesthesia. I asked they are not putting her out. They said no we can give her laughing gas for an additional 75.00. I thought she would be fine this dentist knows what shes doing. They call her back and I think everything's going fine. I step out to smoke a cigarette. I go back in and it had been a long time. Then I hear Sandy and them miss Gilmore. I'm then thinking something is wrong. They let me in the door and there stands Monique Hoang telling me that she could only get 2 teeth because she wasn't cooperating with her and that she didn't want to overdose her on the Novocaine. She then tells me that she will do better next time because she knows what to expect. And asks me if I heard her screaming. I said I didn't...We go to the front desk to make another appointment. My daughter has a look on her face it was anger. We go out to my truck and my daughter tells me what happened. Monique had gave her shots on both sides upper and lower. She pulled one tooth and my daughter was saying in a louder voice that it was hurting she told her to shut up that she was scaring the kids in there and what she was feeling was pressure. She pulls the other tooth and immediately take her for another x ray. So I go back in and being very angry myself because I trusted the dentist not to hurt my daughter. I asked the front desk person does she always pull infected teeth she said sometimes as long as it was not too bad. So we go get her more pain pills. Than I really got mad and went in and told them they were not very passionate like the phone book said and they hurt my daughter and I would like a refund. They asked me which dentist she had seen I told them Monique they said I would need to talk with her. The front desk lady went back and I know they heard me raising heck in the lobby. She told me that the dentist had went to lunch. My daughter being in pain I took her home. So the next day I went to demand my money back. I entered in the back door I see the man that does the x ray's he goes outside and is calling on his cell phone, I had a big bag and they probably thought I had a gun lol. He went out to his car and dug under his seat. My husband was out in our truck and he glances my husbands way. I was told the office manager had to refund my money and she was in a meeting it was 1:45 and asked when the manager would be out of the meeting. She said she should be out by 2:00. meanwhile I ask the front desk lady who the oral surgeon was she said they were all oral surgeons because they deal with the bone. I told her that the ad in the yellow pages was false advertisement she asked how. I said because it said oral surgery, compassion and so on. The lady I had expressed my disappointment with the day of the extraction came out I went back to her and she said I getting you a check right now. I said check I paid cash she said I cant give you cash we don't have that amount on hand I said bull just give me my check. I asked is this check going to be good because they were not honest with me to begin with, she said if you have any problems tell them to call us. I had to pay 6.00 to cash it at thier bank because I didn't have an account at that bank. I sure wasn't going to deposit it into my account for them to stop payment on it.. The moral is if it's too good to be true it isn't. Don't believe what you read in the yellow pages either. read more
