I'm so grateful that I found this dental office. My experience thus far has exceeded my expectations. I just had a bridge removed, and 24-hours later, I feel practically no soreness or pain. Dr. Iman's methods are much better than other offices that I've been to, and he actually has conversations at length about the issues, and wants to educate the patient to understand the decisions and procedures at hand. Dr. Iman has been my dentist for years starting in Newport Beach, then to his other place and now he's in this amazing facility in a really cute, old town bougie vibey part of Long Beach next to a big beautiful park I never knew existed. Anyways, like I said in my previous review of his previous facilities in OC, Dr. Iman is a fantastic, no-nonsense straight shooter that DOES NOT UPSELL. There's no going in for a routine exam or cleaning w no pain or problems and then being told that you miraculously had no idea thar you need a full set of implants or a triple root canal or whatever because you dentist needs to make his Ferrari payment the next day. Iman is great. But don't take my word for it. Ask The LA Galaxy soccer team. Iman's their official dentist and it's not like he paid them. Quite the contrary. They pay him. As in... Iman has to be on the field at every home game, has a facility in the stadium, and gets a freakin' Championship ring if they win like he's on the team. So if Iman's good enough for Beckham's team I'm pretty sure he can handle your veneers. :) What else can I say? His staff is courteous, knowledgeable and patient. What more can you want in a dentist? Wow I'm so impressed with our visit. I took my little one for a routine cleaning but we got so much more. The staff here really takes their time, there is no rush, and Jenelle was AMAZING with my little one. I was a bit worried because it's not a specifically pediatric practice so I didn't know how well they would handle kids. Jenelle was sweet and patient, and really made the whole process fun and interactive. My daughter couldn't stop talking about how great her visit was. Little one had the beginning of the tiniest cavity but we were instructed to focus on nutrition and at-home care, and we would evaluate at the next visit if any corrective action was needed. I appreciated there was no push toward unnecessary procedures or scaring me into extra costly work (like many of my friends at other dental practices have experienced). They showed my little one her oral bacteria under a microscope and wow did that make an impact! She brushed three times today! They took little one's oral PH (she scored very well) and gave us plenty of options for natural toothpastes, alkaline foods, and great at home dental care. My favorite part is I know they won't be pushing any dangerous chemicals on us. No unnecessary neurotoxic fluoride, they offer fillings without BPA, low dose digital x-rays, and more. Dr. McBride is the sweetest and funny! Best of all he's very knowledgeable. It was WELL WORTH the expense to get that level of care and dedication! read more

I came into Dr. McBride's office with bad periodontal disease. I have had my visits with Janine. She is fantastic. She is informative and very capable at cleaning my teeth. I've had a fear of going to the dentist from my former dentist after a really painful deep cleaning. My guns were bloody and hurt for 3 days after each time. I was very worried before going into it that it would be extremely painful like the last time I had it done it, But she was patient and very gentle. They have current technology and my gums only had little pain the same day and no pain at all the next day. I had my follow up appointment and what a difference! The only negative thing I could say are their prices are high for someone like me with no dental insurance. It's difficult to afford, but you get what you pay for! Quality care, informative care, and thorough testing. And they do everything to avoid unnecessary surgery. What cost me 1,300 could have cost me 8,000 at my previous dentist who wanted to do extensive surgery. read more

I just had my first appointment with a holistic/biological dentist , at the Dental Wellness Center in Long Beach. The experience was bar none the most incredible experience I've ever had with a dentist,or any medical professional for that matter..the dentist sat and talked with me for a long while before they even started , evaluated me, my lifestyle, and explained their philosophy and wellness approach and I was blown away. Before they will even clean your teeth, in order to keep you safe and know what they are treating, they take microbiology samples / slide preparations of oral biofilm, to determine the presence of bacteria and what types , and if they are low, moderate, or high risk for disease types of bacteria. They do an oral cancer screening, screen for sleep apnea indicators..They coach you on how to effectively very care for your teeth and gums so that you can reduce visits..and are education/ coaching focused. They teach you about how certain types of bacteria in the mouth are responsible for a host of other illnesses in the body.There is so much more that went into this appointment, that I can't smash into this post, but I'll have more to say after my next visit when they compile the results of all the diagnostics. I have never been excited to go to the dentist..but I love this place. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. read more

Dr. McBride is highly rated, with decades of experience, he's warm and kind and does a "gentle" detailed examination, taking all sorts of tests and measurements. He says 8 out of 10 of his first time patients have serious dental issues, confused as they get regular cleanings. But it's like detailing your car but not checking your engine. His staff is happy, knowledgable and go out of their way to take care of you. You definitely aren't just another number here. Each time I arrive for a visit or make a call, I am warmly welcomed. Everyone there is ALWAYS smiling (these folks like their jobs!). Scheduling appointments is easy and flexible. They explain your procedure and costs beforehand. During the procedure, they explain the steps they are taking and why they're doing them. It really empowers you as a patient. With my last cleaning, I got a goodie bag of toothbrush, tongue scrapper, travel size holistic toothpaste and dental floss! I have never had a dental visit/review such as I received from Dr. McBride at Dental Wellness. No one had ever been as thorough, in-depth and revealing... He even showed activity, through a microscope, of what was going on in my mouth; explained how some was beneficial and others harmful. His practice is modern but yet excludes a lot of the harmful chemicals that are automatically used in the industry. Very nice office environment, staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable. I've never had a dentist who explained what was going to happen and why. The staff and Dr McBride are all very caring and kind. I have extreme anxiety over dental issues and I had a very positive experience. My needs were listened to and best of all nothing hurt. The shots didn't hurt and the numbing is double checked before starting work by using something they call ice. They also don't use crazy contraptions in your mouth to do work and don't stuff your mouth with gauze and such. I was super nervous but it went smoothly. Plus my smile looks amazing again. They start on time and they stop on time, that's important when your nervous and scared. I would recommend anyone with dental anxiety to come here. read more

We adore Dr McBride and all his staff. I've been to many popular holistic dentists in the LA and OC area and none of them had Dr McBride's integrity, kindness/amazing bedside manor, extreme knowledge, and iron glad holistic principles. We drive two hours to see him and worth every mile. Dr McBride saved my teen daughter from TMJ surgery that other dentists suggested. My daughter was fitted for a Mago device and her lock jaw pain was feeling better in days and now fully pain free. The reviews and his website looked promising, but I couldn't find anything with prices. I called to ask what the initial consultation would cost and the woman acted as if I was an idiot for bothering to call. She then told me I needed to read the ENTIRE website (which is quite long winded) and call her back later! What horrible customer service. I had already spent quite a bit of time reading their website which is why I called in the first place. Parts were unclear. Aren't you trying to get me to become your patient? Why am I being given homework for you to grace me with your dental skills? I'm sorry but I don't have an entire afternoon to read someone's lengthy website and it's awfully elitist to refuse to give someone a basic price for something as simple as the initial consultation. I finally dragged the price out of her and it really wasn't that bad, a bit more than a traditional dentist but manageable. Then she got huffy with me when I got off the phone and had this horrible sarcastic tone of voice. So excuse me for calling with some simple questions. In this economy especially it's not going to do your business a whole lot of good to be mysterious about basic pricing. I understand that every case is different but either you have set prices for basic things like exams or you're jacking over your patients. They wouldn't give me a price for a cleaning and said it was up to the hygienist. I've never heard of a dental office that doesn't have a set price for a cleaning or at least a ballpark. Tell me it will be between x amount and x amount, but to give no information is ridiculous. read more

I am beyond happy to have found this office. I only wish he had been my dentist since childhood and avoided average or mediocre care from my other dentists. That's not to say I've had only terrible dentists in the past, but even the ones I liked don't compare to the knowledge, care, detail and complete service provided by Dr. McBride. To me, he truly embodies the principal of "do no harm" that doctors should adhere to. I don't believe there are dentists who purposefully cause harm, but what I mean is that Dr. McBride has kept himself educated to recognize out-dated treatments, treatments that have shown signs of being less than effective or even potentially harmful, recognize areas that may cause issues later even if they're not an issue yet and the best ways to address the potential concern, as well as he doesn't immediately jump to invasive or drastic options. He does wonderful work and has even successfully completed a procedure that another dentist said could not be accomplished without killing my tooth. He is out-of-network, but I have no problem accepting that in order to keep him as my dentist. I much prefer to pay a little out of pocket and know I'm getting the best care without the anxiety that I might be making a bad decision or might have an undesirable outcome. read more

What this group is really good at it taking your money. They get 5 stars for that. The real rating should be a ONE star for actually doing work. Beware..if TMJ issue first appointment is $444.00. They get you very happy thinking they will actually correct your pain. But it actually only gets you to the next step which is Scans that the DR. adds an additional one for $300.00. The you get to pay for appointment #2 which is $750.00. Remember as yet nothing has been done to correct your problem. At the next meeting it is suggested that you meet with "their" orthodontist (whatever he charges) and them they will create a program for you. So out almost $1500 and your still just talking. Via discussions one finally gets a number that it could be $30,000 to $70,000...really??? I found a wonderful Orthodontist in Manhattan Beach that actually is a TMJ specialist that made me splints for $5,000.00. I am out of pain. She teaches at UCLA/Lectures and really knows what she is doing. Said I should NEVER have Ortho again... read more

The word doctor comes from the Latin word 'docere' which means teacher, not treat-er. I spent hours reading his website and learned so much. I really had no idea how much I didn't know (and I have a doctorate)! Your oral health affects more than just the appearance of your teeth and can be a clue of other serious underlying conditions. Having a qualified, caring, and approachable dentist as part of your healthcare team is essential. - Got TMJ issues, popping or clicking in your jaw, or headaches? He can help! - Worried about gum disease? Yup, they can help with that. - Need teeth whitening? Sure thing, boss. - Snore terribly or grind your teeth at night? They've got your covered. - Not sure what you need? They can help you figure that out. As is the case with most health insurance, most dental insurance does not cover every treatment nor does it fairly reimburse doctors for their time, talent, or expertise. Dental care is definitely not an area that you want to skimp on. Treat yourself to the care you deserve, but make sure your budget is ready to cover what your insurance company won't. My family has been seeing Dr McBride since my boys were 3 and 5. I love his approach and the gentle care of the entire team there. They have explained perfectly and simply everything that was being done as my boys were treated so they both felt comfortable. We have had cleanings, SDF treatments and fillings. My oldest even has an anxiety disorder that can be very debilitating at times and he is happy to see Dr McBride every time. When my children feel anxious, Dr McBride lets them lay on my lap as he works on them. Dr McBride even personally calls to follow up with them after their appointments about how they are feeling. A previous pediatric dentist we had seen wanted put my son under general anastheias and do a full root canal for a bad cavity he had. Dr McBride was able to painlessly treat the tooth with 3 SDF applications to stop the decay and it took only minutes and required no anesthesia at all. To top it all off, the methods they use here align with our naturalistic life style and attention to natural health. I came to Dr. McBride in severe pain. I chose him because I was desperate for help. My HMO dentist could not find out why I had pain. He suggested it was fibromyalgia. I decided to try a holistic dentist. Doc quickly saw the infection in the x-ray and sent me over to Dr. Fan for a root canal. Then we began the whole process. The root canal saved that tooth and ended the pain. The hygiene techniques I learned ended pain that I had in my throat. Since then step by step my teeth and health have improved.
