I've been to this dentist office now about 5 times, twice a year for bi-annual cleanings. I will not be returning for my second cleaning this year and have switched to a new dentist. I was referred to this office by my new insurance but front desk set me up with hygienist who was not in my network (but the dentist was). I was awarded a hefty bill that I shouldn't have had to pay for but reluctantly did in installments. When there was about $50 or so left to pay the manager at the time said they'd just take care of it given it wasn't my fault. I set up a new appointment for a cleaning this month and was told I have two outstanding bills and to contact my insurance. My dental insurance told me to refer them to my medical insurance so that medical may pay their portion. Long story short, the dental office and both my medical and dental insurers are playing musical chairs and having me do their jobs contacting one another to resolve two bills that I'm being told I'm now responsible for because the time to reconcile them thru the insurer is now too late. For a friggin cleaning? $400 and something bucks for someone who has never even had one cavity in their life? The manager at the front desk says it's the fault of the previous employees and that's why they're all gone and she's now cleaning up their mess. How is that my fault? It is unfortunate, I liked my hygienist, dentist and the convenient location. But I've already paid once for THEIR mistake and that alone was one time too many. read more

I went for a cleaning and after taking 18 x rays, and inspecting my mouth they were not able to do the cleaning. Thanks to them for undermining my dental care. Office workers were not helpful, ignored me i chose this location because of its proximity to public transportation. Very unpleasant experience. It was difficult to get the xrays tranferred to a new dentist. It took several tries. read more

I went to Sears dental in golf mill years ago. I had a tooth out in that was knocked out and I needed a route canal on it as well. During a post op X-ray I noticed something long in the Tooth. I asked "what's that?", the response I got was "that's just your root". I recently started going to aspen dental because this tooth became an issue. Within 5 seconds of looking at an X-ray they knew something was wrong. They ended up extracting the tooth. The "root", was actually an inch long drill bit. While this happens sometimes, this was long enough to warrant everyone taking pictures due to the shock of it still being there despite being this long and obvious to cause future issues. I would highly suggest avoiding all DentalWorks locations. read more

SCAM ALERT! Charge way to much for their services and also Push the Deep cleaning really hard you can read other similar reviews. Super hard handed and rough when working on your teeth and you are Strongly encourage to pay for everything ahead of time. They also push Care credit really hard and strongly encourage to pay all the planned procedures the same day. I'm actually really disappointed over the deep cleaning scam. My new dentist said that my gums were actually really healthy and that the deep cleaning wasn't necessary then I asked for pricing and they were 1/3 to 1/2 the price of this place. The dentist cut my tongue in 2 places and never owned up to her mistake! Corporate said the photos I sent were consistent with me biting my own tongue After 4 months of back and forth with a TEMPORARY crown, corporate sent a notice "discharging me from their care." Do yourself a favor and never go to DentalWorks!! I was extremely happy with my deep cleaning experience. Co-workers told me it would be horrible and I went in with much anxiety that melted away as soon as this procedure was started. The Dental Hygienest Michelle, really did a wonderful job, explaining everything she would be doing. I am so very relieved I stopped putting off the Dentist due to financial hardships. I had a crown put on by Dr Ali. After 4 hours I had to wait over a month for the crown. After putting it on I've had nothing but pain and infections in the tooth for two years. I am getting it pulled out tomorrow . Never go there! read more

I went to DentalWorks because they're the closest office that my insurance takes. Everything leading up to the appointment seemed routine. Reminder calls, texts, etc. I provided both people that I talked to, before the day of the appointment, my referring dentists' information to get whatever information they needed (BOTH times). When I show up for the appointment, they don't have the information necessary for the referral. I waited over an hour for them to figure this all out, when they could have done this done weeks prior to my appointment ( I used to be a medical office manager and this is standard practice). Still, I was understanding and let them do their thing. They finally took me back after waiting over an over in the waiting area. Took X-rays and the assistant asked me which teeth I was getting pulled. I pointed to two different areas of my mouth and she informed me that I was wrong. The surgeon came in to examine the teeth and said " there's nothing wrong with the tooth that they want me to pull". Another assistant started to escort me back to the waiting area because they had to contact my insurance again to file the correct procedure. At this point, I was tired of waiting ( plus the waiting area had so many people there weren't enough chairs for people to sit!) and more importantly, I was afraid that they would not pull the correct teeth. I would not recommend this place. Totally unorganized and not to standard to other offices I've visited, medical or dental. read more

My insurance changed, and I was looking for a new dentist. Dr. Rivero at DentalWorks came highly recommended, and I set up an appointment with her. At the end of my initial call, when I confirmed appointment time and dentist, the person informed me that I would be seeing a different provider. I thought it was just an oversight and was able to have it corrected to see Dr. Rivero. I called back the day before my appointment to provide my new insurance information. Before hanging up, when I confirmed the information for the next day's appointment, I was told I had the time wrong and the appointment had moved later (without any notification). Unfortunately, that time did not work with childcare arrangements I had previously made, so I had to cancel. These were very disappointing initial interactions with DentalWorks that make me leery of what the care would look like here, and I will be finding a new dentist accepting new patients. read more

After moving to Chicago, I opted for dental works because it was the closet to my apartment, and they accepted my insurance. My first cleaning was ok. The hygienist was rude and kept saying how it was amazing that I didn't have any cavities since I hadn't been to the dentist "in such a long time" (It had been 8 months). The hygienist then recommended that I get a fluoride treatment. I questioned about the insurance covering it as fluoride is generally for children, and she assured me it would be covered. A few weeks later I got a letter from my insurance saying it was denied due to me being over 18. I went back for a second cleaning 6 months later as I hadn't looked for a new dentist yet, and it was still convenient. I had a 5PM appointment, arrived at 4:45, and was seen at 6:10. I had to ask the receptionist several times what the hold up was. I feel if you are over 15 minutes behind, it would be considerate to update the patient. The hygienist did some X-rays, didn't ask me about them, and I was later billed by my insurance as they are only supposed to be done once a year. This has always been my experience with insurance, and it seems dental works is just trying to bill for as much as possible. Once last issue is that their X-rays are not digital, and the equipment in general seems quite outdated. You'll get a fine teeth cleaning here, but nothing more. read more

Reading all the past reviews, I'm wondering if I lucked out. Calls were picked up. Staff was courteous. Office was clean. Everyone was nice and professional, including the dental assistant and the dentist (Ali). Everyone explained all the dentist codes, so I wasn't out left in the dark, and no one tried to shame me over my oral hygiene. As good as it gets for a dentists office. read more

Like a lot of people, my experience at Dentalworks Portage Park was unpleasant. To start with the hygienist slapped a blood pressure cuff on me while I was still getting settled in the chair, then proceeded to lecture me about high blood pressure off the reading that was easily 30 points higher than any reading I've ever had (due to the fact that I was still moving around when it was read). While she was looking at my teeth, there were other staff in other bays who were talking very loudly at each other. I couldn't tell if they were fighting or if they just rude but it did not create a calm atmosphere. At the end of evaluating my teeth, the hygienist proclaimed that I needed 'deep cleaning' because my teeth were in such terrible shape. I said I wasn't interested in that, I just wanted the basic cleaning and had to repeat myself several times because she didn't want to take no for an answer. I kept repeating that it was my body, my teeth, and I was making an educated choice to decline this service. I have legitimate reasons for not wanting this service (not financial) but really, it's none of her business. A patient *is* allowed to make their own decisions about their body. Finally she stomped off to get the dentist. Dr. Hamdi came in and said "maybe we can take a slower approach to this" regarding the deep cleaning, and then proceeded to comment on his thoughts about the orthodontic work I had done as a teenager (thirty years ago). He even slapped a ruler against my face so he could better criticize the crookedness. Finally I was dismissed, to return another day for the cleaning. The subsequent cleaning itself was fine, although I've never had a dentist tell me to raise my hand if they are hurting me. Usually they can tell if they have injured you. The front office manager was very nice. But otherwise, I kind of felt like I was getting treatment from dental students who haven't yet taken classes in bedside manner. read more

This place is only after billing your insurance and you as much as they can!!! I was told dentist will not treat me if I do not get full mouth X ray and insurance will not pay for my visit. I have only scheduled a visit for cleaning and I have been patient in this office for 5 years now! You would think that you do not need to do 10 X-ray on patient that you have been seeing for 5 years every 6 months. Also was told this is due to them having new digital X-ray so we have to take all images again?? !!!!???!!! I have had dental work done here and redone here so many times as Dentis could not get the filling done correctly NEVER!!! This is not patient friendly place just corporate nonsense and frankly should be closed as they are not doing the best for patients- in some way commuting insurance fraud by charging for unnecessary services!! read more

Save your money and time! Last week, I came in for a root canal treatment and it took two hours. However, the doctor was not able to complete the treatment, so I was referred to a specialist (an endodontist). Even a second dentist came in to assist and the work was still not able to be completed. I was told in the room that I was not going to be charged for the service. Then, when I went to the front desk I was told I was still being charged a fee even though the root canal was not completed. I was told that most of the tooth was cleaned out and it shouldn't take the specialist too long to complete the treatment. Therefore, I was not really upset when I was charged a fee for a non-completed job. Moving forward, when I saw the endodontist, I learned that I still had at least an hour of work that needed to be done on the tooth. Apparently the dentist here did not do much to the tooth. Consequently, I ended up paying a VERY HIGH price at the specialist office because of the unfinished root canal treatment. I should have never been charged knowing that I still would need a complete root canal treatment done at a different location. This place cares about money more than their patients! If you cannot do a certain dental task, please be honest and say you can't instead of scamming people! I hope others do not have to go through what I did. read more

This place moved to 4066 Milwaukee Ave (Milwaukee and Cuyler Ave.) +1 (773) 541-8137 Newly renovated location, needs at least a ceiling fan in the waiting area, feels very warm as the large windows allow sun and heat in. The office is Beautiful. They rarely answer the phones when you call, they Don't do a very good job of reminding you of your appointment. There are a few easy fixes they need to do to make it a more enjoyable place to do business with. Other than that, I'm overall very happy with them. read more

Cheaters I and my son visited Dental Works three times, I think this dental is the worst one and they are cheaters. 1. I printed the bill from our insurance company and find they charge me much more. The first time, the lady told me one charge came from my previous dentist, I and she checked but there is no record from my previous dentist, and then she told that charge was for maintenance. 2. She told me I shouldn't get bill from our company, ridiculous. 3. The facility and service are the worst one I meet in the past dozens years and encourage you to use a product which one are expensive. Just an update to say that this place still amazes me. The costs are low, the staff is brilliant, and every appointment I have had so far has been just as good, if not better than the one before it. Over 4 appointments so far, I have already gotten alot of work done. My appointments are usually at 6:15, the last one of the evening, and I am never being rushed out, and I am never taken late. Dr. Rivero works til we are done for the day, which has so far, often been until 8:30 at night. Dr. Rivero is also very skilled with the Novocaine shots, and somehow seems to uncannily know exactly where to inject to get just that area worked on numb. This has led for me, to much better recovery time. She also knows that I am working yet to secure the financing for the amount not covered by insurance, and is, in the meantime, working on all of the stuff that is covered 100 percent by my insurance. So far every procedure has gone of without a hitch, and no problems have been experienced. Dr. RIvero is EXTREMELY skilled, and has a great chair-side manner. All in all, I would fully recommend Dr Rivero and DentalWorks at six corners to anybody! read more

I do not recommend this place at all. Worst dental experience of my life. To start, having a deep cleaning done here i was billed almost 900 dollars, this to me is unheard of considering i have never spent outside of maybe 150 dollars before. I sat in the chair while my dentist bounced between myself and other clients, so at one point i sat for a half hour or so alone to stare at the wall. Oh , they also suckered me into paying over 200 dollars for antibiotics for my gums to control any post cleaning infections.To sum it up my bill was to be investigated by their billing dept which after numerous calls and messages they blew me off and never called me back, now it got sent to collections and im stuck paying an OUTRAGEOUS bill for horrible service. read more

Oh the roller coaster it has been. I have insurance and decided to schedule a very basic cleaning, easy right? Nope. Was given a thorough exam of my gums and was pretty much told I needed extensive cleaning work done. Ignorantly I agreed to this deep cleanse that none of my previous dentist had ever suggested, though she cleaned the gums I did not even get the general scrubber that they use over the tooth for a basic cleaning. Asked for a quote, was told it would be 2k and that my insurance was mediocre at best and did not cover much. I was told I could get on a care credit and pay 0 interest for 24 months to which I agreed to. After the painful procedure I reached out to my insurance company and guess what? They actually covered far more than I was initially told. I tried endlessly to call Dentalworks to no avail. I had to drive to the office to actually talk to someone and suddenly the story changed as to coverage, I was told I would personally receive a call from one of the receptionist to settle the billing and she never called, all care credit told me was it was futile for me to call because Dental works had to call them. After much back and fourth we finally went from 2k to $600. I decided to end the madness and just pay for it cash, I was very specific about being protective about my credit and that I wanted to make sure I no longer was bound to care credit since I decided to just pay upfront. Again I was promised I would get a call personally from the manager and again I never received one. In the mean time I still had 2 rounds of filings that had to be done, I had the first round and a month later I am still in pain. No way I was going to get a second set done so I came in to express my discomfort and the doctor was very dismissive and cut me off when I was telling her where the pain was, said I just need to brush differently and use a different tooth paste. I was also noticing a pattern with other patients every time I came in (you can over hear most conversations since there are no doors) and it seems like they give everyone the same story of "you need extensive cleaning due to gaps in your gums". It is now 5/9/19 and I get home to a letter from credit care saying I am past due (which will hit my credit!!) and again I call call call call and no answer. FML! read more

I went here for many years because I always felt Anne did a great job cleaning my teeth and she was always very sweet. However, the hygienists get pressured to up-sell optional procedures, which is a tactic I didn't like. One day I got a different hygienist and she did the optional stuff without asking for my consent first, expensive stuff insurance doesn't cover. That was the last time I ever went there. Also, waiting to be seen was always a long wait, anywhere from 30-60 minutes on average. As other have mentioned, I was told I had gum disease, but a different dentist said my gums are healthy. Never again. It's a scam. I wish I had read the reviews prior to going there. When I made the appointment and arrived to their office, I clearly stated that I needed to have one of my wisdom tooth removed. Then when I was called for x-rays; nobody explained to me the reasons for it, or that my insurance may not cover these costs. Finally when I met the dentist, she said that I needed to go somewhere else to have my wisdom tooth removed. In other words, I had completely wasted two hours and ended up with charges of $275~. I became frustrated so I brought this to the attention of one of the receptionist - who was the only polite person there. She said the dentist needed to charge me even if I did not get anything done. Then, the Front Office Manager and another receptionist overheard the conversation and jumped in telling me - in a condescending way - that I should not worry because my insurance company will cover all the charges. The receptionist told me that "it's no cost to you" which is obviously not true as I pay for my insurance premium and now I also have this bill. I left very upset not only because of the lack of service, but also because of the lack of professionalism. read more

My son needed his wisdom teeth removed. An appointment with Irving Park DentalWorks was set up with difficulty. In attempting to schedule this appointment calls were often not answered or returned. For the evaluation the oral surgeon never introduced himself or even made eye contact with my son. He simply rattled off some meaningless numbers and left the room.We were left with an insincere apology from a lady in the reception area. The only clear message we received was the amount of the fee for evaluation and how it was to be paid. read more

STAY AWAY from this place ,especially for braces..they are rude, inconsiderate and over all scammers.. I paid to much money for my teeth to have been treated the way I was.. not all the reception are Pleasant especially Marisol and Tiffany.. my orthodontist went by the name of Dr. Tsai. He is always over booking . you end up waiting there more than an hour after your appointment. I had enough of them and their unprofessionalism. Pay 2012 prices for 1990's technology. Too cheap to put out for digital x-ray machine. Not nearly as clean as it should be. I like the staff but they can only work with what they are given. They did some work on me 7 years ago, now I need to done over. Not totally their fault but they could have recommended a full implant instead of just a root canal. My bad for not following up later on, but they never called me either and have the same phone # as I did before. I recommend if your gonna spend big money go to the place that is up to date and totally clean. read more

Moved to Chicago but only after 2 years have I finally decided to transfer to a dentist here in June. I found this because it's near. My former dentist always tells me I have great teeth and praise me for taking care of them. When I went here, first thing the dentist did was do 4 fillings. The next few days, I was really uncomfortable and couldn't handle anything cold. I went back to follow up. Dentist did a test on temperature, did another x-ray, adjusted the filling a little bit. She didn't find anything. Every appointment, I made payments. It's been 3 months and my situation is the same. I couldn't take anything cold. The hygienist on the other hand did a good job but I don't feel comfortable going back anymore. It was a nightmare. I could only do fillings every 2 years with my insurance so I think I'm stuck. My mission is to find another dentist. I'm hoping to find someone as great as the one I had before this. Good luck! I hope you guys don't get to have the same experience as mine. read more
