This place is great. Clean and friendly. They do a good job. It was a painless extraction of wisdom teeth, quick and virtually painless. A word of caution: Dentist Downtown is a very good place to get dental work. I highly recommend them. The dental work I've received has been excellent but if any doctor calls you later and gives you ANY directions about your medication that is contrary to the bottle's directions, like doubling the pain medication, DO NOT LISTEN, even if you recount back exactly what's said DON'T DO IT. There's no record of verbal directions, you will be the one held responsible for any problems. Only follow written medical directions and only accept changes via text or email. read more

So....I am a clutz. I arrived in Seattle at 2:00 on a flight from San Diego to visit my children who live here. Upon disembarking from the plane I reached up to grab my carry-on and the bottom of the bag swung around and hit me square in my mouth knocking a tooth out!! I was in pain and scared. My daughter called all around town to find a dentist who could see me right away hoping to save the tooth. Most dentist offices were sympathetic but could not fit me it, some even outright dismissed her. Dentist Downtown Seattle showered her with support and went into action to get me seen. Less than 2 hours after I get off the plane, I am in their office. The entire team was ready for me upon arrival and fixed me up. They didn't just save the toothe, they saved my morale and psyche. To Dr. Witt, Sharon, and Sasha, I cannot thank you enough. You are an actual blessing. You made it so that I just might fly here for all of my dental needs. I am not joking. Decided to find a Dentist near where I work and this place was across the street. The hygienist, dental assistant and doctor were wonderful. They made sure I was always comfortable and if needed let me take a break. They offer 2 different types of Novocain and nitrous oxide for those that are really feeling anxious. There bedside manner was also appreciated and the staff that checked me in/out were efficient and very pleasant. I highly recommend this office!! read more

Shooketh with the top service I received today! The office is very modern and relaxing, the whole staff is AMAZING! I was afraid of finding out what was wrong with my teeth after 6 years of not even a cleaning. Everyone was really sweet and very informative, they treated me like a guest and just not like some crappy person who doesn't floss enough. I've had bad experiences where the oral hygienist and dentist had been very brash and off putting with me. This was far from the case here! We recently moved to Seattle and are trying to settle in. So of course we need to find a family dentist. After reading raving reviews about this dentist office, I was excited to get set up with them. Unfortunately I just called to make an appointment for my 8 year old daughter who needs a filling. I asked the receptionist if they provide screens or tablets to help distract the kids. She said, "No we do not. We are not a pediatric dentist office. We do our best, but if children are crying we just refer them to pediatric dentist." I was stunned! Providing screens for distraction is so common these days, I couldn't believe it. I told her that their website needs updated to reflect this because it says that they offer an atmosphere that even sets kids at ease. She asked, "Are you sure you're calling the right number?" And proceeded to tell me the name and address of the office. When I confirmed it was correct she seemed confused. I'm not sure what they mean when they say they're "a full-service dentistry practice" because even though their website says they "serve children to the elderly", it doesn't appear to be the case if they aren't providing basic things that other dentist offices provide and just passing the children on to pediatric dentists. I wouldn't mind bringing my own tablet, but after she made it sound like kids were merely tolerated, I was afraid to even try this place and afraid I'd to be told to take my daughter elsewhere. I'm extremely disappointed because so many of the reviews made this practice sound like a dream come true. I enjoy working with doctor Savauge. She is young, amazing, very professional and definitely empathetic. I do recommend this place. I haven't been to dentists a whole lot in the US, but the only reason I take one star off is because dentists are usually seeing multiple patients simultaneously when you have an appointment slot booked with them. The majority of every appointment slot is managed by the hygienist. I do not feel like you get the undivided attention you deserve from the dentist you block time with for the money you pay. My basis of comparison comes from the dentists I saw in India where the dentist would spend time with me for the whole 30 minutes I book the slot with them. And these are highly qualified and experienced dentists that I saw in India. Perhaps it's a function of the American dentists? I'm not sure to be honest. If anyone has an opinion on how it's supposed to work here, I'd love to learn. My review doesn't mean to demean the services provided by this place btw, As I said I continue visiting them because I do enjoy the services. read more

I work long hours and most dentist office are only open during "normal business hours" 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday so that makes it impossible for me to see dentists for necessary treatments. Dentist Downtown is a rare find in my book with some hours on saturday so people like my self can still be properly taken care of. This dentist was AMAZINGLY HELPFUL, KNOWABLE, KIND and the office staff was friendly with a VERY CLEAN space. Which all of these factors tell me that they actually care. I came in with very sore/ red gums which was causing me to have a sore throat. I had already taken off work to see my primary doctor during "normal business hours " to see what was wrong, they found nothing. The dentist ran through some preventive opitions which could possible being causing my pain and extreme discomfort. He was very kind and actually LISTENED to my sensitivities such as cold water. I could not have asked for a better doctor and his treatment plan worked!! With in 2 weeks of treatment, I was finally out pain and could feel my body heal it self. Thank you!! read more

I went to Dentist Downtown yesterday for the first time, also being my first time back in a Dentist office in 3 years. I met with Dr. Sauvage and she was very thorough in my cleaning and went over all my x-rays with me in great detail. I had two teeth with large cavity's and she explained the plan of action and got me in the next day to fill the one. What I liked most is she assured that they would work with me financially if I needed to since it was an unexpected expense for me. Today I had the filling done and both Dr. Sauvage and the dental hygienist had great bedside manner to make sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. Dr. Sauvage believed by x-ray that I would need a crown but while working on the tooth she let me know she felt the tooth was still strong enough to not have one at least yet. I truly appreciate that she took the conservative route to protect my tooth and also saved me over $300 out of pocket. Wayne in the front office is also very friendly and efficient. I look forward to working with Dentist Downtown to get my teeth to a healthy state and maintaining with them moving forward. read more

First, I was happy to find a dentist open on a Saturday morning! It was my first visit here, and I was honestly nervous since I had not been to a dentist in a few years. However, Dr. An and the entire staff made me so comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. They took the time to understand my previous dental history and walked me through the entire cleaning process and future treatments. My experiences with Dr. Ellen Vyas have been very negative during the last 3-4 visits that I've had. I went to Dr. Vyas to get a crown put on a tooth, and at each visit, Dr. Vyas exhibited poor bedside manner, rough handling, and passive aggressive behavior. At my first visit, where the tooth was shaved down and a mold was made, Dr. Vyas was very rough on me, even when I told her I was in pain. She continued drilling, even though I was flinching and had raised my hand to ask her to stop. Additionally, she complained multiple times that my mouth was too small (shouldn't an experienced dentist be familiar with situations like this? There is literally nothing I can do about having a small mouth). After the temporary crown was placed, I was in pain for a week and couldn't chew on that side. Additionally, the temporary crown came off while I was eating a salad (keep in mind, I was chewing on the other side of my mouth, and the spinach leaves were very soft and shouldn't have caused it to come off). Thankfully, I was able to come in right away to get it placed. The dental hygienist, Jenna, was very nice, sweet, and gentle and seemed to really care about making sure I had the temporary put back on without any pain. I was very thankful that I had Jenna replace the temporary crown, and not Dr. Ellen Vyas! I requested that Jenna be present for the permanent crown placement so as to make the process better. When I came in for my final visit (2.5 weeks after the first temporary crown placement), I did have Jenna and she was, once again, very gentle and caring and tried to make sure I wasn't in any pain. However, she had to call in Dr. Vyas to make sure the crown was seated correctly, and the appointment went downhill again. Dr. Vyas came into the room and asked Jenna if I was being nice today (?) and Jenna responded that I "hadn't backhanded her yet". Is this professional? Dr. Vyas then told me the opposing tooth needed to be shaved down. Concerned that this would be painful, I asked if I needed anesthetic and she said no. Dr. Vyas proceeded to shave down the tooth, and after she had been drilling for a while, I felt a piercing pain. I told her about the pain, and she responded that it shouldn't be painful and then said, "You know what we call that? We call that taking advantage of someone who's nice". As if I was lying about the pain and she was only stopping because she was "nice". Dr. Vyas continued to be very rough on me when pulling the crown off and placing it back on (as opposed to Jenna who was very careful and made sure I wasn't in any pain). The whole time, I felt like Dr. Vyas was treating my mouth as if it was a mannequin's mouth that couldn't feel anything. She seemed more concerned about getting the job done quickly rather than getting it done carefully and pain-free. All in all, I felt that Dr. Vyas lacked the care, professional demeanor, and gentle handling that I typically have with dentists. Her constant complaining, negative attitude, and rough handling at every visit is enough for me to never go back. I will say that the dental hygienists I've had there (especially Jenna) have been great, but I will not be going back because of Dr. Vyas. read more

I *always* dread going to the dentist, yet had the best experience at Downtown Dentist. Reception - the office admin, Stephanie, is very friendly and responsive. She scheduled my appointment to fit my schedule, and on the day of my appointment, she had all of my information ready to go. At the end of my appointment, she provided me a breakdown of the [minimal] out-of-pocket costs I would incur for a couple of follow-up procedures for which I need to return. No hidden fees or BS to deal with! Cleaning/Exam - the hygenist, Janet, is amazing! She was thorough and explained everything along the way. I enjoyed our friendly conversation, and she answered my questions and concerns throughout the process. I can't remember the dentist's name, but he checked in at the end of the exam to go over my Xrays, and also patiently answered my follow-up questions without rushing. Great bedside manners all around. I can't recommend this office enough, especially if you live or work nearby! read more
