They seem like they don't like being there themselves. The last dental assistant I had is why I'm submitting this review. His name was Martin and he called me back. As soon as I stood up and walked towards the doorway he doesn't say anything and turns around and walk towards the back. So, I just follow him. He points to the chair that I guess is where I will have my exam. So, I have a seat. He says he needs an xray. So, I just sit there while he gets the xray pictures. Afterwards, he gets the materials needed for teeth cleaning. He wasn't pleasant at all. At this point I'm uncomfortable and ready to leave. He flosses my teeth and brushes. Then, the doctor comes over and he actually was nice. At that point, Martins demeanor towards the doctor was pleasant and they had a conversation. I'm so disappointed in how I was treated. Martin did not make me feel comfortable and put on a facade for the doctor. I will never be back.

"Range"of cost for root canal suggested by Dr prior to surgery was around $1200. Find it hard to believe that since the base cost of the root canal was $1644, the Dr didn't know this was a low estimate . Imagine my surprise on check out after what I can only describe as a friendly but painful procedure for the final bill to be $2450. Would never have done it had I had any idea. My fault for not being more pointed in questioning. LAST ROOT CANAL EVER! Add to the RC a new crown at $1200 plus and the economics suggest pull the tooth or get an implant which has lower risk of future problems.

Dr. Campbell and…read morehis office have questionable business practices, and when I brought it up, they were dismissive and Dr. Campbell himself was very arrogant. The Christian persona and mission work he does apparently don't extend to his practice. Last year, I had a crown that fell off and my dentist recommended that I see Dr. Campbell to make sure there wasn't a problem with the root canal that Dr. Campbell had performed prior to the crown being put on. I was in a lot of pain, but when I contacted his office, I was told he was going out of town on a mission trip and they would not let me see the other doctor in the practice because I had originally seen Dr. Campbell. So I had to wait 24 days to see him, in pain the entire time. When I finally got in, they took x-rays (and refused to request the existing x-rays from my dentist). They then performed a CT before I even saw the doctor, but when I questioned this, I was brushed off and just told that the doctor would go over everything with me. When I finally saw Dr. Campbell, he looked at the x-rays only and told me that everything looked great. I specifically asked if he could tell everything from the x-ray and was told yes. When I asked why the CT was performed, he only then looked at it and just said again that everything was great. He then walked me to the front office, handed off my chart and left. It was then that I was informed that I owed $150 for the CT because insurance never covers them. I said that is not acceptable at all for several reasons. The first is I hadn't even seen the doctor and he hadn't looked at any x-rays to see if a CT was even warranted. Secondly, I should have been told that the office would like to do a CT scan, but that insurance wouldn't cover it, and asked if I would be okay with that. The fact that it was just done and I was told after the fact that it wasn't covered and hit with a large bill is very deceptive and even unethical. At this time, I asked to speak with Dr. Campbell to let him know that I couldn't believe that I was being charged and expressed that things should have been done differently. His response was that it was needed for diagnostic purposes. I replied and said at first you didn't even pull up the CT until I asked about it and had already told me that you could see everything from the x-rays. He said that is just the way our office does things. However, their own website says of the CT scan, "Dental Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient." Since the x-ray had not even been reviewed, they could not have known that they would be insufficient (when by Dr. Campbell's own words, they were sufficient), thus the CT scan should not have been performed. A few days later, I wrote Dr. Campbell a letter, expressing my disappointment in the way the entire thing was handled and his response was "Roger that, sorry to lose you as a patient. My standards are my standards which are very high apparently compared to your value in my expertise and your dental health." There are lots of good endodontists in the Houston area - find one that doesn't perform procedures that he knows will not be covered and are of questionable necessity without even bothering to talk to you about the financial impact of his practices on you. We all know that performing the CT did not cost him anywhere close to $150, but keeping that profit was more important to him than his patient.

They are just on another level when…read moreit comes to root canals with their equipment and expertise and can handle the difficult root canals that general dentists aren't equipped to do or perhaps correct a mistake of a previous dentist *cough* after you've already got a crown or already had a root canal that didn't get sealed up right or whatever other horror show you're dealing with. Honestly, I'm even debating whether I would just come here first even for a more routine root canal which hopefully I won't need because they are so precise and don't drill the holes any bigger than they need to be. Cost-wise, they ARE more expensive than your regular dentist if you're comparing apples to apples but you're really not comparing apples to apples here because all they do here is root canals and specialize in it. Having said that, I felt the price wasn't outrageous and fair given the quality of work and saving my tooth. The only room for improvement is getting the notes and referral papers back and forth from your general dentist and them. They not only did not receive the notes my dentist had sent them but they also failed to send their notes to her on that day so you might want to call and double check that they got everything before you go there and have to pretend to be a dentist- pro tip: If you want to sound smart, remember the tooth numbers and use fancy terms like "referred pain".

But if you've got teeth pain or need a root canal, this is where you want to go. I had gone to Dr. Gorman over 10 years ago when I needed a root canal done on a tooth with a permanent crown. He was excellent then, and he's still that way. This time around, I've been having a real go-round with a new permanent bridge that was put in by my regular dentist (went this route rather than an implant after a crown came off with part of my tooth attached). I was experiencing excruciating pain on the entire side of my face where the bridge was placed. Nothing - and I mean nothing - alleviated the pain. I popped Advil like candy. I couldn't sleep. It got bad. Really bad. My regular dentist referred me to Dr. Gorman for assessment. Right away he explained why I was experiencing such intense pain and what I could do to "get things back to normal." A few adjustments on my bite and an anticipated timeline for the muscles on my jaw to heal were given. I did feel better . . . for a bit. Went back to my original dentist to have the bridge seated permanently with less pain, but pain nonetheless. I was referred back to Dr. Gorman again, who once more assessed the healing process and what needed to be done to get me back to a time when I was not having any pain at all. Dr. Gorman is such a kind, patient man. He's extremely professional with an excellent bedside manner. He explains everything in detail, converting to layman's terms when you don't quite get all of the medical lingo! He spends time with you. This is not an in-and-out dental visit. Dr. Gorman talks to you - the person - and takes care of business. He also has state-of-the-art equipment in his office so he's able to see exactly what's going on with your teeth. Office staff is excellent too. Call and you'll often be able to get a same-day appointment. The entire staff is so nice. Highly recommend Dr. Gorman and this practice if you're referred to an endodontist. Excellent, thorough care!
