After taking my X-rays, they carefully explained everything to me and answered all my questions. I also watched a pre-procedure instruction video, which helped me understand what to expect. When I met Dr. Kim, he was professional, clear, and straightforward. He explained my treatment options concisely and also pointed out potential risks related to my other teeth. After discussing everything together, we decided to take a conservative approach -- remove the wisdom teeth first and monitor the other teeth to see if they could recover over time. I really appreciated being involved in the decision-making process. The surgery itself was excellent. It was my first time receiving anesthesia and having teeth extracted, and I can honestly say I felt absolutely no discomfort. Dr. Kim removed both wisdom teeth efficiently and skillfully. (Yes, I could hear the drill and some hammering sounds -- which was a little funny -- but I felt zero pain.) After the procedure, I followed the instructions carefully, took the prescribed medication, and applied ice as recommended. Today I found out that all my implants have held, I have healed properly and can eat regular food now. I paid for a consultation in full and was told that once insurance processed the claim, approximately 80% would be refunded to me. My insurance company confirmed that payment was sent to the oral surgeon's office. When I called to ask about my refund, Rachel told me that the office could not issue it because they had no checks available and did not know when they would be getting more. At this point, I will be consulting my insurance what steps to take next in order to be reimbursed. A healthcare practice should have systems in place to handle patient refunds. "We don't have checks" is not an excuse I would expect from a professional office handling thousands of dollars in patient and insurance payments. The lack of organization, accountability, and urgency has left me with no confidence in their business practices.
