I FELT ALMOST NO PAIN AND RECOVERED IN 3 DAYS!! I had all four wisdom teeth removed and was initally afraid of the whole process due to what I've heard and seen online. However, a couple of hours after the removal my face was barely swollen and I felt relatively no pain in my mouth at all. Four days out from my wisdom teeth removal, I am basically now eating normally and practically fully recovered (just waiting for my stitches to dissolve). I've often heard from friends or influencers online that wisdom teeth removal involves a week of pain and is a unpleasant experienece, but I would describe my expereince at this office, the equivalent of going to your dentist for your checkup. I'm way too busy and don't have time to write Yelp reviews, so when I do write one, especially a positive review, it is because the business, or in this case, the doctor is 100% deserving. Dr. Kim really, really is honest! Shocking, isn't it?! I've had so many negative experiences with dentists and their misdiagnosis of my teeth so to encounter an honest one is very rare. So here's why Dr. Kim is honest: I was having intermittent pain on my front tooth, and my general dentist told me that I needed to extract the tooth and get an implant, and most likely all my front 4 teeth! I ran out of that office and quickly got multiple opinions! One of those consultations was with Dr. Kim, he quickly assessed that I was grinding and clenching during sleep putting pressure on the one tooth causing pain. He told me to wear a nightguard for one month and re-visit if pain did not go away. Afterwards, I saw my relative endodontist and he confirmed what Dr. Kim recommended. So I wore my nightguard every night for a month, and the pain completely went away. I continue to wear it nightly, and the pain has not returned. Dr. Kim saved me from unnecessarily extracting my good tooth! The office is extremely busy and Dr. Kim spends just a few minutes with you but it's because he is extremely competent. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Eric Kim and his team. To preface, I had my upper two wisdom teeth extracted by another surgeon. I had such a horrible experience that it made me apprehensive about another extraction. Especially since extracting my lower wisdom teeth risked the possibility of nerve damage. Regardless, when I had my consultation, Dr. Kim provided thorough explanations which made the information easily digestible for me. At first, I was weary about the recommended procedures as well as the price of my quote, so I went to another office for a second opinion. The second office ended up giving me a significantly higher quote for the same procedures (a coronectomy and a bone graft on top of the usual extractions). This leads me to believe that Dr. Kim is honest when it comes to charging his patients for his care. Anyway, I called Dr. Kim's office and got an appointment a week and a half later. The procedure was great! I was very anxious, but his team made me feel at ease. I don't remember too much because I was sedated, but I just remember feeling like I was in good hands. My recovery was MUCH better compared to my previous wisdom tooth extractions. Although I was very swollen, I felt little to no pain after my procedure. Just mild discomfort and the slightest tingling sensation on the right side of my jaw whenever I opened my jaw super wide-- this only lasted for about a week. Of course, I was given aftercare pain medication, but again, I never really felt any pain so I didn't take any. On top of medication, I was given a facial ice pack band to reduce swelling, a syringe for easy socket cleaning, a small toothbrush for precise cleaning, and even a water bottle just beacause, haha! I put off pulling the last two of my wisdom teeth because everyone's been telling me that it's too close to the nerve and it might cause permanent numbness. I've finally just got too many infections and irritations that I was ready to just deal with it even if that happens. Dr. Kim recommended that I take B complex leading up to the surgery to help the nerves heal and I did that exactly. On the morning of, when they first put the gas over my nose, there was a long delay before I started feeling it. I was so scared that it wasn't going to work, so I started inhaling very hard. Then it all hit me at once lol By then I was numb and even though I can feel the pressure of the needle being inserted for the IV, there was no pain at all. The procedure was all but maybe 45 minutes. I followed the after care instructions religiously - took the anti-inflammatory, took the antibiotics, ice/heat pack as instructed. I can feel my lips and cheeks without any numbness and not once did I even need to touch the Vicodin pain medication! The extraction sites are all healing nicely too. I highly recommend Dr. Kim if you're looking for an oral surgeon! I went to a another oral surgeon in the past and at that time he only removed 3 of my wisdom tooth. My last wisdom tooth now finally erupted, causing me so much pain and difficulty opening my jaw to even eat. On day of consultation, Dr. Kim thoroughly went over the plan with me and prescribed me a week of antibiotics to ensure the removal process and post op outcome would be better. I'm now post op day 3 and have had no complications. It almost feels like I didn't even get my tooth removed since I haven't had any pain or swelling! I was able to eat and enjoy regular food on the same day. I had minimal bleeding, which lasted no more than 1-2 hours. Since I only needed to get 1 wisdom tooth removed, I did opt for local anesthesia, despite how anxious I was. If you're debating between general anesthesia or local, I will say that from my experience, local anesthesia wasn't bad at all. Dr. Kim removed my tooth in less than a minute- I felt no pain and only slight pressure. I didn't even know my tooth was removed until he said he was all done. The only painful part was the injection of the local anesthetic, but you will instantly feel your mouth completely numb, taking all the pain away. Went in for a consultation about getting my supernumerary teeth removed so I could get braces. Also found out that my wisdom teeth were pretty impacted so they needed to get removed too. The reasons, options, risks, and breakdown of costs were all clearly explained to me. I was able to schedule the surgery for a week later. It was recommended to do general anesthesia since my supernumeraries were going to be hard to remove. I was a bit nervous going into it but the next thing I knew I was at home recovering. Post-op instructions are clear and answered many of my questions. Also by my 2nd day of recovery there was already little to no pain even without painkiller! Getting my wisdom teeth removed was one of my biggest fears I have put it off for so long. 5 years ago I started to have a little pain and sought out the best oral surgeon in Orange County. Dr Kim. I did a consultation but my fear got the best of me and I never followed up. That's how deep my dear ran, I convinced myself I needed to keep them in and I had room. Fast forward to present day, I developed an infection in my gum and knew that it was time to remove them without choice. I was swollen and in pain and couldn't open my jaw. Dr Kim was the only person I trusted and they were able to get me in right away for removal. I will start by saying, my only regret was not doing it sooner. It went incredible. I didn't feel a thing; the staff and Dr. Kim was exceptional to say the least. I opted to be put to light sleep for the hour and after they give you a little gas to make you less anxious they insert the IV and than you wake up and it's over. It was a 10/10 experience. Being that I am 34 I ran the risk of my nerves affecting my lips, which Dr Kim let me know of. I felt VERY confident he was a skilled surgeon and would execute brilliantly. He did! I had no nerve issues post surgery. I can't say enough great things! I wasn't heavily sedated when I woke up, I had almost minimal swelling and the recovery process has been wonderful. A bicycle accident I incurred as a kid led to massive bone loss after a prior set of corrective procedures failed through the years. My upper front, center teeth were literally coming loose. I endured years of embarrassing issues with my most visible teeth. Dr Kim performed a complex bone graft, which allowed me to have 4 implants successfully installed. Had Dr Kim failed in his attempt, I'd have been forced to have a bridge or other temp device in place of these permanent implants. I would not hesitate to have him and his team do it all again. I can't speak to their actual dentistry because I had to jump through hoops with their front office. First off, it is weird their office staff contacts through a gmail account versus an actual company email. It made me very leery to be sending personal info there. Second, they requested I contact my sons dentist and have X-rays sent over. Upon scheduling the appointment they said there was a consultation fee of up to several hundred ($100-245) but wouldn't know until they got insurance info. Then upon sending the insurance info they told me they can't tell me until the day before my appointment what the consultation and x- ray fee would be. I said I didn't like the idea that I wouldn't know if the fee would be until the day before (especially since it could be close to $300). Also I asked why I needed to go through the hoop of getting and sending x-rays when they are charging me for a new set. The representative just told me they can't tell me until the day before but I can call insurance. Even if I do call insurance, that doesn't inform me what THEIR consultation fee is (which also, if I'm paying them $245 I don't feel like I should have to do their job for them). Their horrible customer service drove me to cancel my appointment because this isn't really somewhere I feel I can trust with a dental procedure. read more

Dr. Eric Kim is FANTASTIC! I have seen him for two procedures, and highly recommend him for tooth extractions and implants. My prior experience with an implant was terrible, extremely painful and I thought I'd never do it again. When I saw Dr. Kim, it was for a molar tooth I needed to chew properly. His tools and technique was superb. His x-rays enabled him to know exactly how deep to do the drilling, or maybe it was milling? ... it was a machine designed to do the implant hole. I had no pain from his procedure. I have had zero problems with that implant. The second time I saw him I needed an extraction, and chose not to have an implant. At my consult visit, he could tell I had been in pain with my tooth for some time. Dr. Kim did the extraction immediately after the consult. Dr Eric Kim is truly amazing! I've been suffering from discomfort and pain for the past year from an implant that was done somewhere else. No one was able to figure out why I had pain because I had no swelling or redness and my implant had fully integrated. It was really affecting my quality of life. Dr. Kim is phenomenal! I'm so glad my dentists referred me to him. I've been delaying my one last impacted wisdom tooth procedure because the thought of getting it done by a surgeon SCARED ME! But after meeting Dr. Kim I felt rest assured and decided to get it done. I had my initial consultation sometime in October. We agreed to put me to sleep (laughing gas and IV sedation) to alleviate my anxiety during the procedure. Due to scheduling conflicts, my surgery was scheduled for December 23rd. My right upper tooth needed an implant and sinus lift, and I had been delaying to do this because I was terrified and traumatized from root canal needing retreatment. This review is a bit late, but I wanted to make certain to give Dr. Kim and his staff the praise they deserve because they are amazing in every aspect! My son had an extra tooth that was growing upward and unfortunately needed to be extracted. Upon first hearing the treatment plan, I was concerned that 1. My son was going to have to lose his front teeth a bit early in order to extract the extra tooth; 2. My son was going to be put under; and 3. How much my son was going to freak out. Long overdue review, but I saw Dr. Kim in 2017 for an extraction of 4 wisdom teeth. I had pushed getting them extracted for the longest time, but they were starting to bother me so I figured to bite the bullet and see Dr. Kim due to the high number of positive reviews. I was rather nervous going into the procedure as because my teeth had grown close to the V3 nerve, I had to go under general anesthesia to prevent damage if I were to move around during the procedure. The procedure was quick and easy - I was out like a light and woke up all gauzed up and in a daze. Dr. Kim called me later that day and asked how I was doing, and I was also sent a gift card and handwritten note which was amazing. I had an inflammatory flare up a few months later, possibly due to food lodged where the wisdom teeth were. I couldn't go back to the office to see Dr. Kim as I was out of town for an extended period of time, but a quick email to him ended up with me picking up some antibiotics at my local pharmacy that same day. I would give 10 stars if I could! If you are due to get your wisdom teeth extraction and held it off like I did, I would highly recommended Dr. Kim. read more

I got my wisdom teeth removed here and the experience was really great. I needed to get my wisdom teeth removed in preparation for jaw surgery (which Dr. Kim also does!) I actually went to Dr. Kim for a jaw surgery consult around 2 years ago but decided to go elsewhere since he doesn't take medical insurance. I consulted with some other oral surgeons to get my wisdom teeth removed but they wouldn't take me because they said my case was too complicated (completely impacted, close to my nerves) and it's better to leave them alone. Of course, with jaw surgery I needed them out and leaving them in wasn't an option. Then I remembered I saw Dr. Kim a few years ago and called up his office. He didn't make me come in again to get another consult which was wonderful. He also happily took me in. I got knocked out for the wisdom teeth removal and everything went smoothly. I was even able to eat fried rice the day of. I didn't experience too much pain either. I was so nervous about the procedure but his staff was really helpful and kind. I'd highly, highly recommend Dr. Kim. I live in LA, but it was totally worth the drive to Irvine. read more

I never expected to write a good review for someone in the medical field as majority of the time something always throws me off, but wow is Dr.Kim great. I came in dreading to take out my four wisdom tooth, and with an an extreme fear of needle phobia and being put to sleep I honestly wouldn't flinch to go to Dr.Kim for any dentistry needs again. He was so thoughtful to express every step by step procedure to me, and not to mention reply to my endless anxiety filled emails about being put to sleep, about the IV and he assured me by using the gas mask. Not to mention how much he makes you laugh during your procedure, and the darling staff that come along with him are so sweet you almost feel like you have your friends around you. I went in, filled out forms, hopped in the chair, gas masked me for 10 minutes which makes you feel nothing but happiness, I didn't even care for doing an IV, I didn't even feel it.I woke up, happy, got home took medication and slept. I woke up thinking im going to be in horrible pain.. not even close. I was hanging out, eating popsicles and watching Netflix and bare in mind im a HUGE baby when it comes to pain. His incisions were so minimally invasive that I was munching on food day 2 and talking on the phone. I kid you not when I mean Dr.Kim is unbelievably great. He follows up via text the same day and is truly at your service during recovery. His staff is amazing as well, super friendly as if they've known you for ages.
