If you are a parent like I am, who wants you kids to be seen by experts who also treat your kids with respect and care, this is your new dentist/orthodontist. When we moved to Westchester from the city about 8+ years ago we went to three different dentists to have our kids teeth cleaned. In each instance the dentist was fine, not terrific, their bedside manner was ambivalent at best, and they pretty much treated my kids as cogs on an assembly line. It got so bad that my youngest would get ill before going to the dentist. When my youngest had to have a tooth filled and the (FORMER) dentist brought out physical restraints for the procedure, I knew we were in the wrong hands. A generous neighbor recommended Valley and we never looked back. Both kids have seen dentists and orthodontists at the practice and their treatment is bar none. The kids have had braces and cleanings and fluoride treatments and fillings and go in with the same big smiles as when they walk out. The office staff are equally impressive and so generous with their time and support. When you walk in the door you are treated like family. When you call, you are treated like a person. No complicated phone systems or medical runarounds like so many other medical groups these days. Just smart people who care about what they do and actually like their patients. Before coming to Dr. Ben, I asked if he was in network for the procedure my newborn needed. He and…read morehis staff assured me that he was, and that I would get both a dental and medical reimbursement. He went into long detail about the time frames for both reimbursements, and which would be bigger. Despite that, he asked me to pay in full ahead of time. I had to repeatedly nag them to actually submit for insurance. When they finally did months later, both dental and medical denied the claims, saying he was not in network for the procedure he performed. While I don't know for sure, I suspect that the office knew that ahead of time, given that they 1) asked me to pay in full in advance, and 2) didn't bother submitting for insurance until I repeatedly nagged them to do so.

We found Dr. Patel about 6 months ago after a difficult visit to an orthodontist. My son needed a…read morepalate expander, and we were running out of time to do it because of growth. While the orthodontist was kind and did his best, there was no way he was equipped to handle this with my very sensitive/sensory challenged son, and both visits were traumatizing and unsuccessful. Dr. Patel, and her wonderful staff - especially Maryluz who truly went above and beyond to help us-- got our son back into a trusting place, then were able to fit him and finally get the palate expander on with no trauma. We will forever be grateful because we know this goes beyond appearance - it is important for his health for a lifetime. We moved our 5 year old to the practice as well.

In many medical situations, two doctors can see the same thing and come to different conclusions about the urgency to care for a condition.
