Dr.Mao is absolutely AMAZING!! I took my two yr old daughter to see her. It was her first visit to the dentist and as soon as she walked in to the office I can tell she got really nervous. Dr.Mao and her assistant walked through every tool with her and explained to her what was going to happen. First, we were so grateful that Dr. Mao was able to scheduled my 4 yrs old son an emergency visit during these trying times. Second, my son was previously traumatized by another pediatric dentist while we were living in Williamsburg -Brooklyn. He continues to loathe going to the dentist until he met Dr. Mao. What a difference like night and day , she was exceptional with my son and had excellent bedside manners. I was looking for a new pediatric dentist for my daughter. A friend of mine recommended Dr. Mao. Although a little far from where I live, I knew I could rely on the recommendation. I was very happy that I gave Dr. Mao a try. She was excellent and was well worth the trip. Once we walked into Dr. Mao's office, we were quickly greeted by her friendly staff. The office itself was colorful and welcoming, kid friendly with plenty of things to keep them busy. Luckily for me, I was able to make an early appointment and be the first in. Dr. Mao is everything you would want and hope for in a Pediatric Dentist. I am by no means an expert, but she seemed very knowledgeable to me. Right off the bat, she asked me if my daughter was a slow eater. I asked her, "how did you know?", she said, "she has a couple of cavities, slow eaters tend to have cavities". Dr. Mao was very gentle, soft spoken and extremely patient. As she was working on my daughter taking care of the cavities and providing a cleaning, Dr. Mao walked her through every step. Comforting her and explaining to her what each tool and item was doing in her mouth. She explained to her what she was about to feel, how it would feel and what it was doing. Brought my child here for their first teeth cleaning at the recommendation of a friend, and was not disappointed! The entire staff was friendly, and took the time to make us feel welcome in the office on our first visit. The dental hygienists gave myself and child very detailed explanations of what they were going to do, and what they were doing. We had a great experience here today. My daughter came to the office for her first dental appointment at 20 months-old. She has a bit (maybe more than a bit!) of 'stranger danger,' so I was dreading how this would go, but the team at Mt. Kisco Pediatric Dentistry did such a great job, there were few tears! Both Courtney and Dr. Mao have such a gentle, soft approach to children, and really know how to make them feel comfortable. Dr Mao's office was the very first trip to the dentist for my 1 yo and second for my 4 yo and it was a great one! The office is brand new so everything is super clean and the custom painted artwork on the wall really makes the office feel welcoming for the children and adults. My daughters were well entertained during the short time we stayed in the waiting area with toys and an iPad. They even have water and coffee all courtesy of Dr. Mao's office! When my daughters sat on the dental chair, Dr. Mao was able to keep them at ease (even my 1yo). She explained to them exactly what she was going to do and showed them all the tools she would be using. She would distract them by naming each tooth as she checked them. The kids loved it. It also helped that she has a tv screen right at the ceiling. And the kids all leave with a nice goodie bag! I have found the PERFECT dentist for my son! Dr Loan is simply awesome. She was so gentle and put my son at ease from the beginning. There was no sense of urgency to rush us out the door. Dr. Mao has been my son's dentist for 3 years now. She is very thorough in her exam and treatment but just as important, she has an excellent rapport with kids. My son has always been relaxed and comfortable during his visits to Dr. Mao - even during a cavity filling. She explained everything that was going to happen, each step of the way, in a manner that was easy to understand for both me and my son. We've grown attached to Dr. Mao (you know how hard it is to find a doctor you like!) and decided to follow her when she opened up her new office in Mt. Kisco, even though it is a small trek for us. Wow! The office is beautiful. I think that's the first time I've said that about a doctor's office, but it really is. Everything is brand new and the decor is polished and yet still such a fun environment for the kids. There are iPads and games in the waiting area (but we've never really had much of a wait) and there are TVs on the ceilings in the exam rooms so the kids are having fun watching shows while Dr. Mao examines and cleans their teeth. Afterwards, the kids get a goodie bag and Dr. Mao concludes with appropriate instructions on maintaining good dental health. No more cavities - Yay! read more

When I had one kid, I brought her to Dr. Mao. When my second daughter was old enough to see the dentist, she too became a patient of Dr. Mao's. Now, I cannot wait until my third child is old enough to sit in Dr. Mao's dental chair! She is hands down one of the most patient and thorough medical professionals we have ever dealth with. (As a mother of three, we have certainly dealth with a fair share of medical professionals!) Even though my 4 yr old is not a fan of the dentist (not Dr. Mao's fault), she is at ease (but still a bit scared of the unknown) and curious about everything the doctor is doing. Dr. Mao explains what she is going to do, so as to know surprise the kids, and she is gentle, but firm in her approach. Her office is beautifully set up. It is colorful and fun, without being over the top. There is a nice big waiting room, with an iPad/area for the kids, and drinks/coffee for the adults! We travel almost an hour to get to the office, but it is well worth it (especially since the kids can still nap on the way there!). Even through they don't like going to the dentist, the kids are always excited to see Dr. Mao, and excited for the goodies they get after the visit! Dr. Mao is a very caring, patient, professional and friendly dentist. All three of my boys are seen by Dr Mao and they've never hesitated to visit the office. She is soft spoken which is very calming and she is very thorough. She tells the boys every step/move she makes so they are aware. One of my boys had to get a fill in and while I had anxiety that he would start crying, he didn't cry and sat there watching cartoon (on top of the ceiling..so cool!) while she worked on him. At the end of the procedure you can tell she really cares about the kids and their teeth so she would make suggestions on how to prevent cavities in the future. Truly a great dentist!! read more

I have a 6 year old daughter and a 7 year old son that are new patients of Dr Mao. We recently had an emergency with my Daughter with an abscess on her gums. Dr Mao was highly recommended by our Friends. We called in on a Saturday morning and the office was able to see us later in the afternoon. As soon as I walked in I was very impressed with her friendly staff, beautiful office ( very tasteful, calming and kid friendly) atmosphere. Dr Mao greeted my daughter, evaluated her right away as I filled out paperwork (so no time was wasted). Before I was done Dr Mao evaluated her infection and advised us what procedure needed to be done and that after she drained the abcess on her gums she would extract two baby teeth that were growing behind her permanent teeth. Dr Mao was very reassuring to my daughter with her gentle manner and her confident demeanor reassured me that my little girl was in good hands. I couldn't believe all this was done in a timely manner. Through it all my daughter was so entertained by the television mounted on the ceiling, Dr Mao and her assistant talking to her and asking her questions that she was not one bit restless, fidgety, or anxious. On top of everything she gave her a cleaning too! Which worked out great! After all that was done, Dr Mao was so considerate that we came a long way to see her she asked if my son was due for a routine check up and cleaning. As a mom of 2 I am very happy to hear a Doctor that is considerate of my child's health concerns and my time. She was kind enough to stay after her office hours and give my son a check up and cleaning so I wouldn't need to make another trip in a few months to see her. I thought that was very thoughtful of her to ask and be mindful to make things more convenient for me. Dr Mao definitely has a special effect on children. I can see that not only Is she reassuring and soothing to the children she also educates them on how to properly take are of their teeth through proper dental hygiene habits. Her professionalism as far as giving the step by step procedures of what she is performing on your child is by far confronting to a parent and allows me to understand what is happening. We decided to make the short trip up from Rye after a friends recommendation and I can't say enough about how wonderful my experience was at Mt. Kisco Pediatric dentistry. Dr. Mao and her staff are simply amazing with my kids. My four year old son is actually looking forward to his next visit so Dr. Mao can make his teeth "invincible" again. We've now seen Dr. Mao twice and each time she has made some very off kilter remarks about general parenting strategies that are quite off putting. Further, on each occasion she tried to delay or postpone treatment which appears thoughtful to consider the feelings of the child and developmentally appropriate when treating and caring for young children, but is negated by the fact that she had all relevant information at the time of the appointment and then suddenly changes course without regard to the child who has braced themselves or the caregivers who hope to help their children. In each instance she was undercutting in her comments about how 'well-educated' people don't have children with cavities, and pedaling a book by her 'friend' that will help teach parents how to not let their children eat too regularly. She presents as quite lovely, soft spoken, maybe even a bit tentative, but her undercutting commentary and inability to care for her patients has made us decide to switch practices. read more

I was looking for a great pediatric dentist for my 4 year old. I had brought him to the dentist once before and had a not so good experience. I remember Dr. Mao was at the Mt. Kisco street fair handing out brochures and tooth brushes, so I made an appt. w her. They scheduled me right away and told me the price as well. When we walked in, the office was so nice! very clean and well kept! exactly what I want to see when I go into a dentist office. The girl at the front desk greeted us with a warm smile and greeted my little one as well! They have all the paperwork online so I had filled it out a few days prior to the appointment. They sat us immediately. Dr, Mao came in and was so nice! She was great with my son. I really liked how she showed him all the instruments and equipment she was going to use before hand, she even demonstrated the cleaning drill on his hand which found funny. Her doing this really eliminated any fear my little one might have been feeling, at one point when she was cleaning his teeth he started frowning his face and started lifting his hand up i guess to attempt to stop it, but Dr. Mao picked up om it immediately and gave him positive reinforcement which was perfect! he immediately put his hand down and relaxed his face. Dr. Mao was very thorough in her exam and answered any questions i had. The most important part was that she was very caring toward my son and he really liked her! There is no doubt in my mind that I have found the right dentist for him! i would honestly recommend her to ANYONE. she was wonderful! read more
