Yelp guided me to several options to consider for service, and upon reading many reviews, I decided to contact Safe Dryers. I contacted them rather late on a Friday afternoon, but they promptly texted me back, and got me on their calendar. Saul and his colleague arrived at the scheduled time, and got to work. They vacuumed out a pile of lint, and exclaimed at the amount in such a short dryer vent :). They measured the airflow, and explained to me what the ideal airflow is, what mine was at the start, and what it is now. They answered every question that I had about the state of the system and how I should maintain it going forward. They were efficient and cordial. What else can I expect? I'd like to point out that Safe Dryers wasn't the first company I called. The company, which was referred by my appliance repair folks, wanted to come to "inspect" my system for a low fee, and then "assess" what needed to be done and provide an estimate on site. When I asked how much it would cost to clean the vent, which I knew needed to be done, this other company would not answer that question. They insisted on a $69 visit to provide that assessment and cost. Safe Dryers had a simple answer--$169 for a ground level vent, $259 for something 10' off the ground or more. I'm sure if Saul and his team found something amiss while they were here, they would have told me about it, but all I needed was that vent cleaning, and that is what I got. A bargain at $169. He also explained how this buildup is not good for the furnace nor the home overall and that routine maintenance is key to making sure a home is healthy. New construction homes are notorious for having dirty and clogged ducts so we thought we better do it. I spoke to Moe who was very nice and gave me a reasonable quote over the phone. I decided to go ahead and schedule the duct cleaning for 2/12. However, Moe did not do the duct cleaning, it was his technician Ralph who came. Ralph was over an hour late but did call to tell me he was running behind. It seemed like he did a good job with the cleaning and when he was cleaning the furnace in the attic the smoke alarm even went off because there was so much dust coming off of it. Ralph did his thing and left when finished. When I went back to the house today (2/13) I took a harder look inside the vents and realized that one in particular still contained a lot of debris and the debris was flying out when I turned the heat on. I called Moe and he said he would definitely send Ralph back to take care of it. Ralph called me and was able to come back to the house within a couple of hours. He did some harder digging and low and behold...he pulls out a plastic water bottle from the duct! When the water bottle came out tons more debris followed! I'm very glad he came back and discovered the problem; but I think this should have been discovered the first time he cleaned. He also cleaned a vent/duct I pointed out that he missed the first time. When all is said and done, 1st Choice did a good job cleaning our ducts and furnaces and I would recommend them. Moe handled my issue properly and in a timely manner which I really do appreciate. Ralph did a good job but do point out where all your vents are so he doesn't miss any.
