I received a $50 street sweeping ticket yesterday. I make less than $1,100 a month though I would work more if I didn't have to go to China to get a paying wage. These street sweeping tickets have been jacked up from $25 to $50, but there's nowhere to park in my neighborhood. Our Mayor Handcock and Gov. Hickenloopie work with the rich people of the region to see to it that the poor jobless, the poor working, the poor underemployed, and other such canaille and hoi polloi like myself have to work overtime (but there is no overtime to be had) to pay fees, fines, little hidden taxes, poll taxes, Verizon superfees, Comcast fees and rents, higher electricity bills, etc. just to keep going and not drown. My street is filled with chuckholes, potholes, bumps, cracks, street cataracts boils pimples and divots. Do they fix'em? No. Check out France, will all of youse? I drove 1600 miles in France (though I'm canaille here) and saw only one crack; no pothole, not one, even in Paris; no chuckholes holes divots on any road in all of France, and Gov. Hickenloopie and Mayor Handcock charge these criminal fees fines etc. What happens to the money? It probably goes to their re-election coffers along with the corporate gifts they receive for helping the oil companies to frack us and our water up. We get the big middle finger from our so-called representatives. Somebody above said she hates 'em. Well, I hate 'em more than she does. I hate the way these so-called Demodogs and Republicons bolster up the rich way of life of the well-to-do by not taxing them and instead raising fees, closing schools, libraries, opening up chuck- and potholes for our lives to fall into, and then saying to the canaille like myself, Frack You. I'm sick of being treated like I'm an ATM Machine for the city for the county for the state and the nation; it's not taxes I'm against but hidden fees, fees and fines, their methods of making us little people pay more so that they don't have to tax their corporate rich pals and buddies. The parking enforcement brigade in Denver is a collection of dumpster fires parading as if they are real people. Real people have souls and these thieves take our tax dollars and make up whatever they think will inflict the most pain on innocent people making simple mistakes. First off, let talk about the street sweeping aspects on the parking meters. Ha ha, Denver is the most disgusting dirty trash storm of a city I've ever seen, and I've lived in Jersey! There's no way any brain dead person believes they actually sweep or clean anything in the city. Lived here almost a year and I have NEVER seen a street sweeper, anywhere ever. The city of Denver took in almost 30 million dollars last year from parking tickets alone! Let's not forget the "time limit reached" aspects the meters. So the person who parked in the spot before you put in enough money to reach the time limit, and you show up never having seen the previous person, and your planning on paying the meter like any normal person would. Nope, not Denver, the meters require a certain amount of time that the meter be unused so it can reset. Caligula would be proud the way Denver rapes its citizens, and nobody does anything about it? If we don't all draw the line and actually show up at your local city council person' office and scream at the top of your lungs how big a piece of sh*t that person is, nothing will change. It will only get worse, they strip our rights away from us little bit at a time, even Hitler would have a serious problem with how Denver is run, and to all the government workers who read this, the gestapo was the secret police who killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people under the third Reich. When they were on trial in Nuremberg, the main defense they used was " I was just following orders" Everything you do that hurts people will come back to hurt you in spades. So I know that the DPVB has major problems because I am disabled and parked on a street that had signs that indicated two hours free parking. I placed my handicap placard on my rear view mirror as required by law. I was gone for one hour and when I returned to my car, I had a ticket on my car for parking in an no parking area. I walked the entire side of the street I was parked on and the only signs that were there indicated two hour parking. I decided to take pictures of this side of the street and the signs that I saw before fighting the ticket. It is a good thing I did. When I went to the DPVB to fight the ticket, I went before some man that said he was the one that would decide if my ticket would stand or be dismissed. I told him my story and he said that I may have missed some signs and that the ticket would stand. I then told him I had pictures of that side of the street and that I have copies of the pictures. He looked at the pictures and then looked something up on a computer and came back and said that my ticket would be dismissed. He said that I was parked in a no parking area but the signs had been knocked down and destroyed so the parking department had taken them and they had not been replaced. My advice is to take pictures and carry some form of camera with you at all times. Have your cell phone camera handy so you can fight the DPVB and take pictures of these ripe off artist at work. If they think they are going to be on a camera, they are not as likely to do their dirty deeds because they know one has something to fight them with. Also, if you go to the Auraria campus and park at one of the schools meter, it would cost you $118.75 for parking 8 hours on that campus. That is 7 minutes for $.25 times 473 minutes. In a month, one could buy a new car for that kind of parking. The people that give out tickets are international students and are not trained or anything. I have watch many a person getting tickets there and the tickets are over the top expensive. My advice is don't go to any school on that campus. read more

I was recently booted at almost midnight on a weeknight (1 day from a weekend which would have been drastic) on a non metered street. I had just $75 in unpaid tickets, 1 from which I was able to prove with a stamped document from the courthouse across the street that I was in court. Long story short, I didn't have the almost $300 they were asking to remove the boot. I had to write a check from 1 bank account that didn't have the money and deposit it into another account. Why? They didn't accept checks. I had to create extra money by robbing Wells Fargo. What kind of bullshit is that? Today, my account was negative $115. I paid it back, but now my internet and phone might get shut off because that was my bill money. All I'm going to say is, extortion it most certainly is. But, I took so much pleasure in cursing out of each "public's woRST" employee I communicated with, except the magistrate because cops follow you in. But At the same time I know my rights and freedom of speech is one of them. I made sure to let them know they are parasites, predatory and leeches. That they don't make an honest living no matter how sophisticated it appears. The only reason they have a job is because people like us are paying for their fucking pay check every week. I also got the pleasure to meet the 'boot man' face to face. I told him if thats the best job he can find for himself, he's not even a real man. And that his manhood is small. I said it loud enough to make sure the whole block heard. They get to capitalize off other people's hardship. I will thank them though for making me smarter: I will never park on Denver metered streets, and I will stop utilizing businesses Downtown that don't offer parking to their customers. The same "officer", more like rent a cop, has given me the same 3 citations (2 in 1 day) for not having a license plate on the front of my car. All 3 were issued within a week. I work for the State of Colorado at the Governor's office and there are maybe a dozen cars parked on the same street without license plates on the front and yet I haven't seen any of them get a citation and have even spoke to a couple of the car owners and they have never had a problem despite parking here for years. How do you expect someone to get a replacement plate when they work full-time Monday-Friday? "Officer" Edmons Badge# 325 should be fired for being about as smart as a potato. I will be disputing all of these citations except the first one, I can accept that. But 3 in a week should be illegal and considered harassment. My van has no place to mount a front license plate. The vehicle was NOT MEANT to have a license plate on the front; only on the rear. So I had my fron license plate visible in the front window. Got a ticket for $75 last night that I promptly threw in the trash. What else am I supposed to do with it? Pay for it? Why is it OK for them to steal from us? I'm really frustrated with the Denver Parking Enforcement. Why go around and make everyone miserable? Is that how you contribute to the betterment of the city? Denver has farmed out the parking ticketing and enforcement to a private, for-profit company which splits revenue with Denver, so all personnel from ticket writers to the so-called "magistrates" are shills, posing as public servants. More tickets equals more profits, and Mayor Hancock thinks this is all peachy--explaining why many new areas of Denver are getting parking metering. The fact that the "magistrates" are only empowered (HA!) to reduce bogus tickets (they cannot dismiss except under extreme proof) is a due process violation in and of itself. One might think that some of the money collected would go into a road repair fund, but evidently other programs are deemed more worthy. Yesterday I received a ticket from Officer Joanna Valdez Knaus, as I approached my car she proceeded to taunt me. She opened her car door and blew kisses at me. I find this absolutely repulsive.
