So the impound off of York street has to have some of them most unpleasant and rude staff on this side of the Mississipp. If you sign for your vehicle and then call 4 times to state you have signed for the vehicle and they told you all 4 times you don't need to be present to have the vehicle released. What do you know you have to be present for the vehicle to get handed to you, so I would say not a soul in the building knows how to work nor do any kind of customer service or show any empathy for someone who has had their vehicle stolen, but just another part of the Denver scam system. read more

Interacting with this location has been very frustrating. I called to inquire about information on an impounded vehicle and they were immediately aggressive and rude when I was only trying to retrieve information. When the release was lifted I called the impound again to review and make sure I knew what documentation I needed, what fees needed to be paid, and other information needed to pick the vehicle up. I was met with ridiculing comments about how this was covered on my initial call days prior when I was only trying to reconfirm so that when I got there I wasn't unprepared. When I got there they asked for a document that I did not bring and they had not initially requested, a letter releasing the vehicle to me. I explained that this was not in the documents requested when I called and the reason I called ahead only to be met with someone rudely telling me off for asking the same question twice. They said they needed it or they couldn't release the vehicle. I had an associate type up the document and send it from my email. The associate at the impound said this was not allowed and I asked if my associate could send the same document from their email. They confirmed, I sent it, and then accused me of fraudulent behavior and said only my manager could send the document, even though I am the manager of my location and have written these in the past for other employees. She then specifically questioned my age and intelligence next in saying that I must not be able to understand her simple instructions. She then forced my colleague to leave the facility because he was shaking his head incredulous about the situation playing out before us. She asked if he had a problem and he indicated he felt we were being treated rudely; she responded by telling him he was useless and needed to leave the facility immediately. At the end of my experience I informed her that her comments were unfriendly and made us feel poorly. She apologized that we felt that way and said she looked forward to reading my review, so here it is. On another note, I witnessed numerous other people interact with each associate at the impound and I was certainly not the only person who was treated this way. This environment was very tense and toxic to be in for the two hours that I was there watching and waiting as people who were helped after me were escorted to their vehicle while I waited. I have had two experiences with this impound facility. The first time when I lived in Denver my car was stolen and was taken here. The 'towing' fee regardless if the police drive it here or actually tow it is $120.00. Each day that it sits there an extra 20 bucks is added onto the bill. I got my car back and it was no worse for wear but they want you to produce your registration and most people keep that in their car so you hit a problem if they won't let you get it without the registration or title and you have to make a bunch of bureaucratic stops to get the right documentation. A real pain! The second time I got a DUI and they took my car there. The officer gave me my registration so getting the car back was no problem. The problem this time was they close around 7 or 8 p.m. each day and I wasn't released till about 10. Thank god for good friends because a pair of them came to my rescue and I spent the night with them in Engelwood. The impound facility opens at 7 a.m. and we were there right after they opened so I only had to pay for the so called towing fee. When things like this happen to people all these little departments are after your money. A hundred here and there and it really adds up regardless if you were at fault for something or not! They will make sure that they will give you the impression that you are guilty of something! read more

I had nothing but good things to say about the Denver impound. People need to also remember is they do deal with a lot of people who think they should roll over to help them. I did not have everything I needed to be able to look at my car but they were more than willing to let me go get the paperwork out of the vehicle I was driving and it only took about 15 minutes to be able to look over my car. The person who took me to the car was very helpful in several ways also. I think the bad reviews need to look at their attitude also. yes it is stressful for everyone even them. The ones you need to blame is the one(s) who stole your car not the ones who found it and are trying to get it back to you. I actually applied for a job as a Deputy Sheriff. I have an advanced degree, a great job and not your average guy getting out of the military guy who has no education (or an AA in Criminal Justice), real world experience and just wants to transition into another military style job even though I am a military vet I am an educated professional. What you will notice about this organization right away is poor customer service skills and that "this is the best job you will ever get treatment" and treat you like crap behavior. I wanted to do something different to serve my community. Main issues: 1.) I take the written test and score a very high score, but I know they do not like hiring people that are too intelligent (research it and you will be surprised), but I made it to the next step. 2.) Slow communication of next steps after testing. 3.) Do the in-person interview with HR Assistant who is fixated on my education even though hiring of the average "Jiffy Lube" worker is what gets them in trouble in the first place, but pass through that. 4). Pass with flying colors through Personality test (two hour test done in an hour). What is blatantly apparent is the low quality of recruits with many being obese, wearing dingy clothes and not what I am accustomed to in the professional world and even within my units when I was in the Army. 5.)Pass the Lie Detector test (woo). 6.)All this time the communication is horrible since they use Deputy Sheriffs with no Human Resources skills to communicate the hiring process. Understand I am actually interviewing with a few other jobs within my field that all pay more, but was thinking I want to do something different. 7.) I take the agility test which is a "yawner" with some of these folks looking like they are about to die running up three flights of steps. Which should have been a warning to the caliber of folks that were going to be in academy, but is a benefit for those of us that actually workout for health since the instructors would be focused on them (with the majority of them in similar shape). 8.) I talk with the background investigator who does not seem too bright, but tries to use that old military style military communication style to sound as if she does. Many dumb questions with many that are really not pertinent or impact the job. They want to call your current job before offering you a job which is freaking stupid and I was like I am not comfortable with this and no company does that. So if you have a good job they could screw it up or in my case actually make it better by scaring my current employer into fixing a few things. 8.) Jail tour with the officer conducting the tour being one of the only employees I met with good customer service skills. Many of the deputies were unhappy which was communicated to the potential employees. You will notice that many of the folks are obese which tells me the combination of sedentary, poor diet and other issues require an individual have a personal workout plan. Very low morale within the jail. Okay, I already know that they are not LEO's except on duty, lurked in forums and had a clue they are freaking slow at hiring, but also knew they were doing a massive hiring focused on deescalation skills due to huge lawsuits against them and I am an expert in deescalation. Guess what? They are still freaking slow, lack customer service skills and play the "carrot on a stick game" in regards to thinking the job they have to offer actually holds a lot of luster in today's society (maybe in the 50's). My spouse was like why are wasting your time with this place and honestly I could not explain it, but believed it was something I needed to do. I realized that I already do enough for society, the talent pool for these jobs are shallow and within my family who educated professionals these kind of jobs are like mall security positions. Some of the folks in the testing process were freaking Army "profile rangers"! Stop harping on how much you pay (50K starting and work you to death overtime) as a great benefit. Sure it is a lot of money for those with no education, no marketable skills or who just got out of the military and is the assistant manager at U-store just floating through life. Fix your Human Resources department, fix your morale, require a minimum of an undergraduate degree for recruits and create a freaking physical fitness standard. I still work in my profession, but this job freaking screwed up a final part of training I needed in my profession (professional growth, not required) since I had to delay it because I did not know what was going on with the process. Potential Deputy Sheriff applicants if going through the process do not put anything on hold in your life while waiting on them to get a hold of you and would highly recommend doing research and enrolling in your nearest community college to obtain skills in a needed field instead of this gagglef#ck they call law enforcement.
