I sort of used it, but didn't completely. I was supposed to arrive here by train, but wildfires changed things so I drove. However, I still had a hotel nearby. My experience dealing with Amtrak, and peripherally the station was excellent. I ended up here for breakfast at Snooze that is attached to the main station. It had a wait, so we went into the main terminal to relax and wait. We visited with a couple of the guards. They were very nice people doing a tough job. Beautiful renovation and a fun place to stop and visit if you are walking around Denver. They have several restaurants, bars, and shops that you can visit if you are waiting for the train or just trying to take a break from the hustle and bustle. I was here for the RTD train out to Westminster on track 8, which I rode into and out of the city twice. I found the station to be easy to navigate and had clear announcements. If you're here for Amtrak, they have a separate waiting area but there is a very large and pretty central hall you can wait in as well. Several restaurants and shopping opportunities if you're passing through or waiting for a connection. The station is also very close to Coors Field - two blocks away~ Rest rooms are clean, platform areas are tidy, overhead announcements can be understood. read more

So it seemed to be hyped up on Yelp and Trip Advisor with all these great food choices and craft cocktails. I had high hopes!!! We were looking for a romantic evening of fine dining but keep in mind it is also a working AMTRAK train station. there are people milling about waiting for trains, the restaurants are high-end and expensive and way BOUGIE!!! And I never use the word "BOUGIE"!!! the aesthetic of the old train station is there but you can do better for food. There just seemed to be so much going on and loud and not enough fine-dining. There were a couple fun shops to get unique souvenirs and knick-knacks but not enough food options. It seemed fun for if you were in a crowd but then its still super loud and crowded. There are so many more options across the street with lining the streets. Look into the JAX Fish House & Oyster Bar or Red Square Euro Bistro! Both places are fun and awesome! You will just get a headache inside Union Station. Also, parking can be expensive but it drops to flat rate of $12 after 7pm. You are better off looking elsewhere. read more

It's historic and yet immensely useful for the city. It's an intricate piece of art dropped in the mist of the city's downtown. And what an amazing present to its citizens and anyone lucky enough to visit this city. And that's just the exterior. When you walk in - and walk in you must since the temperature outside was an awesome 23 degrees the night I arrived - your jaw drops at its beauty. The center of the station is a amalgamation of restaurants, shops, even a hotel - The Crawford Hotel. The restaurants are elegant and chic, serving top of the line foods, coffees, and pastries, but they'll be reviewed individually later. The seats look old, going along with the design but done be fooled, they are suited with electrical plugs for you to charge your smart phones, even though they have been design and possible appropriated from the turn of the previous century. What's most amazing, access to the station is free. You don't have to buy a ticket to admire it's beauty, walk it's hallways, and buy from its restaurants and shops. It's a refuge in a cold land, an oasis a mile high, and a great place to meet beautiful Denverians in their natural habitat! read more

What an experience. It sounded nice, but once I got here, it was not a nice sight. So many people looking lost, cold, broke, and many on drugs. I would not come here to drink again. It is not a nice place to have a drink. Many shops were closed past 8, except the bars of course. And to add, everyone was piss drunk, so having a single drink was not at all appealing. read more

Oprah loves bread, Bill loves train stations. Nice train stations, that is. And Denver Union Station is gorgeous. It really brings you back to the days when traveling by train was glamorous. It's been beautifully redone inside and out with lots of stores, bars and restaurants. But you can also sit in the main waiting area and catch up with friends or just read a book. Great place to grab a cup of coffee and just sit and people watch for a coupe of hours. In addition to having nice amenities, it is a full service intermodal transportation hub. Long distance trains, commuter trains (like to the Airport), light rail and bus service is all available here. And it's just a short walk to the free Mall Ride if you're going somewhere else downtown. I love when a place can be both useful as a transit hub and appealing as a destination at the same time. Denver Union Station is one of those places. It's not as amazing as Grand Central here in NYC, but it's a gem that should be treasured. read more

As a person that loves history and also loves beautiful architecture, this place is absolutely amazing. I can imagine this place buzzing years ago as people waited for the train. An early 20th century version of a modern day airport. I have seen many old stations be transformed into things similar to this. But what they have done with the Denver Union Station is absolutely incredible. It is one of the more aesthetically pleasing wide open spaces I have seen. They added a hotel that you could only see if you were looking for it. And the lighting is one of the coolest features as you look up. The very bright white facade of the inside makes this place feel like you are in something far fancier than a train station. Wow. This was the nicest Union Station / train station I've been to in America. I actually didn't go all the way to the train platforms but the waiting area inside was clean and cozy with lots of different seating options. I'm used to dirty benches and homeless people loitering around (looking at you, Portland, Seattle, and Baltimore). I loved that there were different food and drink vendors - including Milk Box creamery - and you could just sit and relax a bit. I wish it were feasible to come to Denver by train but sadly we don't have bullet trains yet! Union Station is definitely worth checking out if just for food and drinks, while walking through downtown Denver. read more

While taking a train in the US is NOT like taking a train in some other countries, Denver Union Station comes close. It's clean, full of restaurants and places to get coffee or snacks. Security there was a bit of a surprise, as the security people were attentive and ubiquitous. Considering we had just come through the train station at Grand Junction, which had no visible security whatsoever, it was interesting to note. And appreciated. It's a comfortable place to wait for a train, or meet someone for lunch or a drink.Kudos to Denver for making this happen. read more

Watch the trains come in. Tourists, hikers, business people....everybody rides the train. The station is nice. There's a couple of upscale restaurants, a coffee/ice cream shop, a few boutique shops. There are tables outside if you want to sit under the trees. Public bathrooms are useful. The tables/seats inside where people were waiting were not clean, and we saw no one cleaning. Short of help? Wow. Besides being a beautiful local transit station, Denver's Union Station is packed full with delicious dinner and drink spots. The station itself is gorgeous, which isn't usually the first word you'd use to describe public transit. But, it's clearly very well maintained. You must go to Tavernetta. It's an Italian restaurant with the best homemade Italian cuisine. The price is very reasonable for what you are getting. The food was outstanding as well as the service. Make a reservation ahead of time as they fill up very quick. Besides Tavernetta, we walked by many other restaurants and bars. Right across the street is a huge Trader Joe's for all of your grocery needs. They have a specific area for rideshare pick up that makes accessing this place very easy! read more

This place is magical during the holiday season. The Christmas tree inside the Great Hall is just impressive! Formerly a ticketing counter, Terminal Bar serves beers and curated cocktails in a beautifully restored place. Next to it, there is a tapas bar Ultreia serving food and drinks inspired by regions in Spain and Portugal. On the other side, there is a staple coffee house Pigtrain Coffee Co, conveniently located next to Milkbox Ice Creamery. Too, there is ACME Delicatessen and ACME Pizzeria if you fancy something Italian. If you want to have a cocktail in a stylist manner tucked away from the crowd, look no further than the Cooper Lounge. You would think that Union Station is a dead zone since Coronavirus restrictions went into place. Heavens, no! This downtown hub is still as busy as ever! There's still lots of trains coming and going from Union Station and the inside of the station isn't as packed as it would normally be, but there are still businesses within that pack in as many people as allowed. AND the Terminal Bar has an outside setup so you can grab a beverage while you wait for a table at Snooze or Ultreia. The holiday decorations were still up as of this past Sunday and it feels as festive as one might be able to during a pandemic. read more

This is what a train station should look like! I've ridden Amtrak and local Denver trains alike multiple times through Union Station and it is such a great building. The train hall inside it so beautiful and has recently been converted to include shops, a bakery and the Crawford Hotel on the upper floors. Located right in downtown Denver, it is just steps from Coors Field and the underground bus station. Recently, on a trip to the area riding Amtrak, I had to wait five hours to pickup my rental car. It was a breeze; there is plenty of space to sit. I got a breakfast wrap from the cafe and took multiple opportunities to walk along the platforms to stretch my legs. read more

Beautiful station that melds the old with the new very well. More importantly this is the jumping off point for both Amtrak and the local RTD lines. The newest line is an airport trip that costs $9 each way and gets you there in about 30 minutes. Security at the station and on the RTD is noticeable which is nice. Next time we'll plan a bit more time at the station as it's just a pretty cool place to look around and maybe enjoy a coffee for a spell. read more

Walking up to this place at noon, right by the doors were lots of homeless people. We saw 2 guys with their pants down and urinating in full view of the public. The inside was ok. It's a lot smaller than what pictures online show. Noticed homeless sitting inside too. Felt like we wasted our time coming here and definitely wouldn't come here alone. We don't understand how this is considered a tourist stop. read more

This place is beautiful but beware of the stragglers. We flew in and caught the train from the airport to downtown Denver, which took about 27 whole minutes. Arriving at the station was pretty magical, like a scene out of a pretty cheesy romantic movie. I was super excited being that it was my first time visiting Denver and we were in awe of the DUS. The place itself had this old-fashioned train station feel with plenty of dining options. The only problem I found within the station was the number of suspect individuals roaming the facility. I had to use the little ladies room and there was a woman in the restroom with a full setup and of personal care items hoovered over the sink handling her business. There was also some suspicious looking guys roaming around that made me feel uneasy but not afraid. Next time I will be sure to immerse myself in the actual hustle and bustle of the station. read more

Talk about a lifesaver for the traveler who doesn't want to rent a car! Denver's public transportation system is second to none, and the heart of it all is Union Station. From here, you can take a train straight to Denver International Airport, or a bus straight to Boulder! The free mall ride also starts outside the station and takes you through downtown Denver. In addition to all the trains/buses, this station is also cool due to the amazing architecture (both indoor/outdoor) and the various activities/places around it. There's a hotel built into the upper level that from the photos and appearance outside looks to be pretty high class. There's also a very nice farmers market on Saturdays out front. I absolutely recommend public trans for anyone visiting Denver for a short period of time, as the day pass is only $9 and you can go anywhere! Happy/safe travels! read more
