I have gone to this Dependable Dry Cleaners for many years. Not anymore! About a month ago, I noticed a missing item on pickup. Honestly, I may have had missing items in the past, but this was my favorite shirt. It was a very expensive cashmere short sleeved polo. When I mentioned it to the person on staff, she looked up my drop off inventory and said that it wasn't on the list. This tells me that the guy who took my drop off, and was about my size, must have left off the list and taken it. The staff told me that her manager was on a work call and would reach out to me about it. They also told me to check and see if it was at my house. Immediately said that it is not. Time went by, so I called back. I was told that the manager would reach out to see how I wanted to be reimbursed, store credit or a check. Another week goes by no call. I've called 3 times and gotten the same response. No resolve, no one calls me back. In the end, all I wanted to do was for them to make a note that if it showed up somewhere that it was mine. It's obviously not showing up and the management has no intention of addressing the issue at all. Stay clear of this establishment. read more

I wasn't too happy with the customer service. When I brought my dress in last year, I was told they would call me when to come try on the dress. I never got a call to follow up. I ended up having surgery, and I called and spoke to a woman to let her know. Every time I called, I felt like I was getting the run around. I wish the tailor worked more days and on weekends. It's hard to leave work early to get there before 5 to try on my dress. I also felt the manager gave me an attitude when I called her about my dress. We have been using Dependable Cleaners for five years. When we live in Hingham, Ma we did business with the free standing storefront. BUT when we moved to Boston we decided to use their home pick up service. James the driver .. We noticed on our Credit Card report they charged us $142.75 for dry cleaning over four months ago. In one instance the attempted to steal a designer shirt (Burberry) from me, I confronted them and it was magically found with the explanation the manager checked it out the system. This place is HUGE. There are gazillions of washers and dryers. We arrived at about 11:30 AM on a Sunday and every machine was full. But within several minutes five washers opened up. I had a little bit of trouble with the card machine (you buy a card and load it with money and use those instead of quarters in the machines). Every time you put $20 on the card you get a $2 bonus. That's nice. Despite being crowded, the place was clean. There are attendants who take your laundry out after about a minute if you aren't there. Don't leave your stuff, or it will be moved! But we didn't mind that. I headed next door to Hua Giang for Vietnamese sandwiches--possibly the best I'd ever had. We ate our delicious $2.50 sandwiches while our laundry tumbled dry. All in all, not a bad experience. It's not cheap here, but I think you pay for the cleanliness and convenience. There's a parking lot, but it fills up quickly. I parked on the street. read more

Dependable is good people! Some reviewers have commented that the service isn't too friendly. I'll agree that some of the guys sweeping the floor are ... aloof ;). But seriously, folks, the people who run the joint are a considerate, commendable bunch. They showed me great kindness and made a girl new to the neighborhood feel at home. When my boyfriend and I first moved to Dorchester, it was with weeks of dirty, smelly laundry in tow. Our washer and dryer at the old place had broken, and smelly socks had taken the back seat as we scrambled to get our lives in boxes. The mountain of clothes we sweated through in our voyage was magnificent, a sight to the eyes, and an affront to the nostrils. And we had just moved and we had next to no clothes and it was seven at night and I had work till 8 the next day and I was so tired I could have slept for a year. Dependable drop-off service did it. The price was a little higher that most drop-off services and a lot higher than self-serve, but they said it would be done by 5 the next day. I raced to get there after work to get my clothes before they closed at 9pm. I phoned ahead and they stayed open a few minutes for me. The clothes were all clean and folded. There was so much of it, they put some in a complementary reusable Dependable Cleaner's laundry bag so it would all fit nice and fluffy! Nice! When they saw me arrive without a laundry cart (there was no time stop at home to grab it), they asked me how I would carry it all home. I shrugged, tried not to think of my aching back and feet, and said it wasn't too far. Then the lady behind the counter smiled and said "How far are you? I'll give you a ride." !!!!!! So, after a long day at work bleaching other peoples' stains and folding other peoples' skivvys, before she went to see her own family, she drove me and my (now clean) mountain of clothes back to my new home. I'll say it : I was humbled. Long and short of it, Dependable Cleaners lives up to their name most of the time. Sometimes, they don't have hot water. That happens. But the place is always clean, the TVs are plentiful, and they have lots of dryers. And the service! They came through when it mattered the most. Moneywise, their drop-off service is pricier than most, but self-serve is right. And from Tuesdays-Thursdays they have discounts on the washers. Go then, you'll save a mint. Going on a weeknight is still preferable to a weekend - all the cool kids do their laundry on Wednesday nights, right? As stated by Cherie C, it's not cheap - but you pay for the size, cleanliness, etc. The few times I have gone and loaded the card my roomie gave me, I did not receive the $2 bonus (although my roomie said next time I should ask someone who works there, because you are supposed to). I absolutely HATE to do laundry, and greatly dislike laundromats... but Dependable Cleaners 'aint bad. I would say that it usually takes about 3 or 4 cycles in their dryers to get things dry, and even then sometimes my items are slightly damp and I just hang them for awhile when I get home. Not only do I use Dependable as my dryer cleaner and launderer for my shirts, I also go there for my weekly laundry. What impressed me the most though was that today, I walked in to pick up my shirts, and the woman behind the counter knew exactly what I was picking up before I even gave her my slip or phone number. The laundromat, I actually like fine. However, I took an expensive, dry clean only silk blanket there. Ruined, f'd up. The exterior looks cleaner, as it should, but the interior melted/bunched up. I'm not sure how this will be resolved, but they will never receive another garment from me again. So, I'm raising the review from one star to three because Francisco was very professional and concerned with trying to fix the blanket. I came here because I needed my down comforter washed and dried. It just wouldn't fit in the washing machine in my building. So I figured if I'm going to pay to wash it, I might as well do the wash/dry/fold service here. They are so nice! I was so impressed by their customer service. I have been going to this location for about 5 years. Within the last 6 months the service has gone from good to downright terrible. I had about 8 shirts that were absolutely ruined. When I pressed the management about the shirts they said that because the shirts had spandex that after a while they would lose their shape and the results would be crumpled collars and sleeves. I told the manager that made no sense at all: A. I had purchased all of the shirts with spandex at different intervals spanning many years and they all were messed up in the last 6 months B. I took in custom-fitted shirts that were messed up in the same way as the rest of my shirts C. I had numerous burn marks on all of my shirts D. Some of the shirts that I took in were not even pressed which is part of the service The bottom line is that the service at this place has gone from great to terrible. I just got my last batch of shirts which were all brand-new back and I had stains all over them, hair all over them, and they were not ironed or pressed. I HAVE NOT EVEN WORN THESE SHIRTS AND THEY ARE STAINED NOW. For 6 dollars a piece they were not ironed and had stains. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. I have been going to this location for about 5 years. I have gone to DC for years, the Milton locations. However, I am fed up. With the prices! Way too high, even with coupons. Silk sundress with a belt, 16.13, belt 2 extra!, pants and skirts 7.42, ladies shirts/blouses 7.27 or 8.27 - what, pray tell, is with the odd prices? They have also lost a pair of pants and possibly a jacket. And to top it off, they routinely have the -' we cant get this stain tag' on lots of items. This place is insane - they have SAME DAY dry cleaning at extremely reasonable prices (I had two suits and three shirts done for less than $40.00)!
