The Depot Casino had the look of an emergency room waiting area with about 1/3 of the players having hip mounted medical devices for injections, breathing, and heart monitoring. This gave a whole new meaning to the term "open carry." I used to think that Fallon was just a dirty place where no cars have mufflers, and the 3 wheel motorcycles are so noisy, they would give any Hell's Angel within 10 miles, a woody. I digress... this is a restaurant review. Harmony did a great job, making me comfortable and treating me well. Nothing can stop the fog of cigarette smoke from wafting over the partitions from the slots where most of America's Social Security payments are spent. Based on the relative ages and the countless medical devices, Uncle Sam won't be sending too many more checks to Fallon. There is an entire page of salads available here. No place in Fallon has these choices. Everything else in town is fried, breaded, starchy, fatty, and alcoholic. Once again, Social Security funds will last longer with this population gorging themselves on those delights before the pie ala modes are served. Totally recommend the bacon cheeseburger salad. The group I was with was looking for some steaks. Turns out that is harder than it sounds on a Sunday night in Fallon. The Depot was one of the only restaurants open after 8. We were seated right away and had very good service. The Depot has a funky western ambiance that totally fits the town. The food was good and the only real issue was the fries were not very hot. read more

First off, yes the cigarette smoke smell from the casino is a little off-putting. Other than that everything else is 5 stars. Service is top notch and very inviting. Food is plentiful and cooked perfect. Had my go to when going for breakfast. Eggs overeasy, sausage patty, hashbrowns and toast. Thumbs up!!! read more

called to place an order and got a call back with no onion rings again so I said ok forget the burger and onion rings but I will have everything else. I got there and they tried to charge me for everything so I said no you have no onion rings and they said oh that's right. When I got home the orders of fries were both almost raw. barely cooked. we had to throw them out...the philly was great and the zucchini was perfect. At this day and age cant waste money on a place that cant keep stock or cook fries. tried to notify through web site and filled out info to submit and get response that URL doesn't exist. went to info@depotcasino.com and that doesn't exist either. guess they don't like to hear how their staff is doing. read more

I eat here quite often (3 times per week) for the last three months and yet to have a bad complaint because : The place is clean. The Servers are very friendly making me feel welcomed and comfortable and of course happy especially Harmony in the evenings. I enjoy her welcoming warming smiles always cheerful and polite every time. The food has been great every time. cooked and tasting hot and fresh nd tasty. Prompt service. Big portions for a great affordable price , always leave stuffed usually with a to go bag. The environment is always comfy, being warm in the winter and comfy cool in the Summertime. We (my wife and I) have eaten there 22 times in the last 3 mo. This last time (7/24/24) was the worst. We waited over 15 min to be acknowledged and to take our drink order. At that time we asked again about waffles (that are on the menu) if yet available. We were told that the waffle machine is still broken and has been so for over 1 years and not going to be replaced. Left menus and our drinks and left. After waiting another 15+minutes for her to return we decided to leave and go elsewhere. We haven't decided if ever going to return as of yet. read more

Just walked out of the Depot restaurant. We went there for dinner but unfortunately that wasn't to be. We waited for 10 minutes while the waitress Clara waited other tables, including her friend's who arrived AFTER we did. In fact the "friends" who arrived after we did already had their salads and she came back with extra salad dressing while we paid for our sodas. Clara stood right behind us as we were paying and still said nothing to us. Clearly she didn't value our business or need our tip (my husband is a GENEROUS tipper). Won't be back. read more

It was the worst ive ever had in nevada..the mash potatoes were served in a ice cream scooper the chicken fried steak was so dry..like it was so over cooked..our ribeye steak was so thin the. Ok for casino diner food. I had a tuna salad and you cant go wrong with tuna and lettuce. They make a pretty good hamburger, seasoned well, pretty big and the hot turkey sandwich looked ok with lots of sliced turkey, gravy and mashed potatoes. I would say an all time favorite there is their potato soup. I did have the fried oysters once and had a reaction. Itched like the devil all night. The restaurant is housed in the casino and like most casinos, is very smoky. Not good if you have allergies. People there are pretty friendly. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking. The Depot USED to be one of our favorite places to eat any time of the day, but we won't be back. It has been steadily getting worse over the past couple of years, hit and miss. Now it's just bad all the time. The burger was charred black, dry and tasted burned, three waitresses were standing together talking for quite some time while ignoring other customers who did get up and walk out. Worst diner of our two week trip. Missed the prime rib cause they sold out by 8PM. Ordered New York steaks, mashed potatoes and vegetables. You know it's no good when the best part was the salad and soup before the meal!! Cold food, tough steak, frozen funky vegetables! We should have had the waitress comp one meal at least. Stopped here for lunch with my grandmother and ordered the southern barbecue chicken sandwich with beer battered fries, while my grandma ordered the tuna sandwich with split pea soup. The food was very good as far as diner food goes. The portions were large (esp the tuna sandwich!) and the fries awesome. The servers were sweethearts and checked on us regularly. My only complaint is that the cigarette smoke from the casino area permeated the entire place. Old world casino, restaurant in a small town. Standard prices for standard diner food. Service is A-Ok. Smoke levels are pretty high though. Sorta tough stopping here but sometimes you just gotta roll with the group you are with. Interior of the Casino is pretty cool though, it's got all these different depot signs that list small towns in Nevada. Restaurants should be rated not against every other restaurant in the universe but against similar types, in this case the small, local "greasy spoon" where expectations are low and the food quality can be all over the map. The Depot has very good food for this genre. I had a Shrimp Louie on spinach that exceeded expectations with generous quantities of seafood. The clam chowder was good and my wife's patty melt with beer battered fries was excellent. On the negative side, the service was mediocre. The server was friendly enough but forgot my clam chowder until I reminded her. My wife's service was even worse. After offering a refill, the server seemingly went off shift because we hardly saw her after that. We had to track down a to go box on our own. Unfortunately, this was not the first time service teetered between mediocre unacceptable. UPDATE: Service has greatly improved and the service matches the food. Bottom line: great good, lousy service. You have been warned. read more

Saturday Jan 26th 2019 After a horrible experience at DJ's we walked around the building to the Depot which made our tummies were full and we were happy. We had the bean soup, which was loaded with ham and beans and very flavorful. I had a pastrami on sourdough which was fantastic!! read more

whoever runs the restaurant should be ashamed and fired. the food is alright depending on what you order. but the service is well below mediocre. the server told us that the worst thing to order is the meatloaf. she stated to everyone that it's not homemade and that it tastes like sulfur. we ordered the meatloaf, pulled pork sandwich, and potato skins. after hearing the server speak about the meatloaf my wife cancelled the meatloaf. our server never even put the pulled pork sandwich in so we had just potato skins. worst dinner experience I've ever had. the establishment could really use a good cleaning and that goes for the staff as well. read more

This review is only for the casino. We did not eat here. OK, so this casino is really a dive. Lots of locals and tons of smokey atmosphere. However, there are also really cool depot signs and train crossing signs and place where you can buy their merchandise! There are penny and nickle slots and nickle blackjack/poker at the bar area. We moved here in July and have tried several places so far 2 were great! Slanted porch and a Mexican Italian place. Was going shopping and decided to get lunch/dinner. Being Fallon limited choices on Sunday. Had tried stockmans but closed. Went to this place and sign says seat your self grabbed a menu and told the girl I was getting order to go and pointed to table closest to desk. It was 1:30 didn't seem busy, no lines,several empty tables, several tables of 2-4 people. ( I have been a waitress/cocktail server in the past to pay for college). Read menu several times different than one on the internet. A black haired waitress walked by asked the couple next to me if ok, the next table of 3 if they needed to go boxes and she went to kitchen. Still waiting looking at menu the cow skins on the walls and people watching. A girl went past and asked if I had ordered a drink I told her no one had asked anything. When she came back I asked if they had a steak sandwich, I saw on internet. No clue she asked another lady and she told me I I could order a senior steak and they could put on bread. Oh that just sounded appetizing, NOT!! Still no one taking my order. Finally got up and there was a girl with a blond bun at hostess desk and I put my water glass down with a thunk and said "I guess this place didn't need my $50.00 bill ( I had 4 meals to get, $10-12 tip. An old man had walked up from kitchen area I assume he works there. I said "I have been waiting 10 min. They both just stare like hunhas I walk away she says something I turned around and said what? She says snottily " no ya didn't it was only 5 min and if you didn't notice we are busy". I said oh I didn't realize you were a reasturant I won't be back!" We were a group of 6 on our way home from Sand Mountain on Easter Sunday and all of our food arrived quickly, as ordered and really delicious. We tried the beer battered zucchini & mushrooms which were a hit! I had their French dip and it was really good! Our waitress was patient, sweet and quick with serving and refills.
