Derailed was a unique spot that was overall underwhelming. The ambiance and vibe in the building was very "small town gossip" from observing the relationship between the workers and patrons and the conversations had around us. I heard more about the drinking and dating habits of the people in the town of Booneville than I cared to during my visit. The room was rather stuffy and crowded with too much going on and the counter was crowded with things so much so that it was unclear where to stand to place your order. When you did step up to the baristas station to order then you were in the way of the restroom traffic and that of the staff delivering food and constantly being ushered to move. The biscuits and gravy were fine, but not great. The raspberry latte was okay. Personally, when I'm sitting in a cafe to dine in, I really appreciate a mug rather than a disposable to go cup. Aside from some of the most expensive menu options in Boonville, ordered a Mocha and was promptly informed: "We are not ALLOWED to serve whipped cream." I'm pretty sure I've never been told this, like is serving whipped cream on a $6 coffee "not allowed " because you're special? Is whipped cream like some sort of commodity in short supply? Here's something, if I'm paying you $6-$7 for a coffee you will put whip cream in it or I will take my business somewhere else. I've been to this business 4 times, I WILL NOT be back. read more

I'm giving Derailed a high rating because they're bringing more good coffee to Katy Trail riders! For that, we appreciate you. It's right by the Boonville trailhead and looks wonderful. Full disclosure, we got there an hour after they closed and didn't get to experience it, but I like the vibe they're putting out. We'll definitely ride a little faster next time to try this place out. Got here nice and early on a Saturday morning. They were training new staff, so they had limited hours this week. Decided on the breakfast panini and a seasonal selection: ice ice berry, which was quite tasty. Highly recommend for anyone from the area or most especially anyone biking the Katy Trail - it looks really convenient to the path, though weather kinda messed up my plans for riding it. Awesome place with super nice workers! I got the granola bowl, and it did not disappoint. The greek yogurt is phenomenal, the best I've ever had! Also it came with the biggest most delicious blueberries ever. The smoothies are also fantastic! I tried an iced caramel latte and it was soooooo good. On our way across the state, we needed lunch and a coffee. We got there about 30 minutes before closing and were warmly welcomed. The place is comfortable and cozy. We ordered the Simple Engineer (an elevated ham and cheese), the Pulled Pork and a couple of mochas. All were fantastic. We will definitely stop here again! read more

Came in late morning to get coffee and breakfast and use Wi-Fi for a little business. They were friendly and helpful throughout. Coffee was great (and definitely NOT the over-roasted kind you get at the big chain) And breakfast was excellent. We stayed long enough to get lunch and it was great as well. Interesting place but it's the first coffee shop I've ever been to that does not offer decaf. They told me demand wasn't high enough. Yet even a gas station sells decaf! Some of us are very sensitive to the drug caffeine and can't tolerate it, yet love coffee and coffee beverages. I suggest purchasing a bag of Starbucks decaf and catering to those folks. read more

I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito and the coffee special called an Almost Joy. Originally I was wanting a panini and when I asked, she flippantly told me that the panini was on the lunch menu and it was 7:30 am. The lunch menu had no indicators of time when it was to be served. The breakfast burrito is ran through a panini press for a grilled effect. While this does make the burrito easier to bite into, it leaves the tortilla dried out and with a rubbery consistency. The eggs, and what I'm guessing were potatoes and cheese, were mushy with a fuzzy consistency. This can only come from pre freezing the ingredients to use at a later time. The homemade salsa was not in the burrito but on the side and tasted solely of tomato, onion, paprika, and red pepper. Fairly disappointing for a restaurant that markets it as homemade. The Almost Joy mocha was good consisting of dark chocolate and coconut, but ran heavy on the sweet side. I had requested an extra shot and still did not taste the espresso in my coffee. This begs the question if there was too much syrup or too little coffee. The only reason I would go back to this place is if it was the only coffee shop in town and McDonalds coffee wasn't available. read more
