    Best cinnamon rolls ever!
    Chase B.

Love Coffee is sensory heaven if you prefer to study in a quiet space without overhead music or too much overlapping noise. I wanted a cinnamon roll and was NOT disappointed, it was the best cinnamon roll I've had in years. Everything is made from scratch! The folks who work here include members of the Intellectual and Developmental Disability community. They are friendly, fast, and happy to stop and chat about featured art pieces along the front window. I love the inclusivity of this place and next time I'm in Columbia, will definitely stop by again!

    Muffin & Sugar Free Latte

I went here for breakfast before a busy day of meetings. I really wanted a savory breakfast, but they were out of a lot of their menu, so I got a nutty muffin and was pleasantly surprised! I also got a sugar free iced vanilla latte and it was so good. The woman behind the counter was so sweet and everyone in there working was also extremely nice. It was a calm and quiet vibe, but also not too quiet to where it made the room uncomfortable. Can't wait to go back on my next visit.

There's a dual mission here: providing great coffee and developing employee work skills. I received both with a smooth cuppa joe and attentive, friendly service. A selection of lunch sandwiches and breakfast pastries are available at competitive prices. Love has a large, open interior that's best described as sparse. Ditto the exterior facing busy Business 70 West.

Aftermath of cinnamon roll (and yes, that's frosting)!!!

If you fancy an amazing cinnamon roll and a great cup (or 3) of coffee, then you must stop here. In addition to these amazing treats, their mission is to provide job skills training to individuals with disabilities/barriers to employment. I should have taken a before pic but my pic is the aftermath of my cinnamon roll.

Pastry case. They also have lunch items. Picture shows danishes and muffins in three rows including scones, cinnamon rolls and cookies.

I haven't found a good fried chicken place in over 25 years, and when I bit into the chicken and tasted their garlic mashed potatoes I realized that I had found the next best thing to what one believes grandma's home cook meal would taste like. The side biscuit was a treat to have and went well with honey or their wonderful jam. In fact, my husband and I are certain that their biscuits and gravy for breakfast must be wonderful based on their side biscuit. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly as well. I also noticed how quickly food was served for anyone waiting for their meals after they were ordered. I anticipate that we will be back to enjoy their other food options.

That said, the bacon definitely made up for it--thick-cut, perfectly crispy, and super satisfying. The real star, though, was the biscuit. It had an amazing texture--fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of structure--and the homemade blackberry jam was absolutely delicious. It added the perfect touch of sweetness and really elevated the whole meal. Overall, a good spot with some great elements. I'd definitely come back.

Ernie's was not on the list, but once in town both the bride and groom verbally recommended it for breakfast. The wedding was Saturday, so before I left town on Sunday, I filled my tummy with a classic breakfast. It's a popular diner, so there was a line out the door. I will say, the manager/hostess kept it moving. A Karen, cut past several of waiting a went inside and went to take an open stool. She was quickly sent back outside and to the end of the line. The hostess, then came out and told another single diner and myself to come and take which stool we wanted at the counter. Ernie offers 12 different combos for breakfast, I picked one that I thought I wanted. When I ordered and said to hold the buttered toast and give me an half order of Biscuits and Gravy. My waitress was so sweet, she said, nope. She said she was going to save me money by ordering me the #11 and replacing the French Toast with the B&G. That's excellent customer service. My Combo #11 was delicious. Had my eggs scrambled and they were super fluffy and simply seasoned. The three slices of bacon were crispy and the Hash Browns had crispy edges. However, the true star of my breakfast was the Biscuit and Gravy. The biscuit wasn't as fluffy as I'd like, but the gravy was top notch. I love pepper and it was extremely peppery which made me happy. If anyone is going to Columbia, I'd tell them to stop by Ernie's for breakfast. When I come back to COMO, I'm going to stop by for lunch and enjoy a burger. Dick Tracy, thinks about them all the time.

Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.
