Doctor: 5/5｜Staff: 5/5｜Office: 5/5 I came to Dr. Derek Lee for a second opinion about my surgery after being referred by a friend, and I'm so glad I did. Although I had to wait about an hour because of other appointments, the office was clean, comfortable, and the wait wasn't too bad. Since it was my first visit, I had a few questions about my insurance. The front desk staff were very patient and reassured me that they would help follow up if there were any billing issues. Dr. Lee made me feel comfortable from the moment we started talking. He took the time to explain all of my options and carefully discussed the pros and cons instead of rushing me into a decision. I really felt that he genuinely wanted what was best for me. One thing that stood out the most was the confidence and reassurance he gave me. When a doctor is knowledgeable, honest, and confident, it gives patients so much peace of mind and makes it much easier to trust the treatment plan. I'm very grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend Dr. Lee to anyone looking for a compassionate and trustworthy gynecologist. read more

Dr. Lee is fine but the receptionist is terrible specially the old lady with short hair and wear glasses sitting in the cubicle. She is so rude and not willing to do any work. horrible wait appt at 4 - 2 hrs later to be seen . very racist receptionists . There also only talking there language no English makes you feel uncomfortable when there looking at you and talking.language barrier is bad hard to communicate. short hair lady with glasses is so rude . After waiting hours with an appointment, my fiancée was left on a examination bed, in a consultation room for almost 30min until the doctor comes back. Need I say more? The doctor has no respect to women and does not care what they feel when they were left in a confined space. they only collect your copay but do nothing. My family doctor refer Dr Lee to me as my previous OB doctor was retiring. it was 2 year ago. I made my first appointment for pap smear and I brought my ultra sound report with me. Dr Lee looked at the report and then asked me to go back next year without doing anything, I paid $30 co pay. the following year I went back and it should be an annual check up, but they said it's a "follow up", I said I haven't been treated for anything so there shouldn't be any follow up. They insisted it's a follow up and collect another $30 co pay. Again, without doing anything just tell me they will sent me referral letter for ultra sound and sent me home. OK, i did my ultra sound and go back again the 3rd time. I asked should I have a pap smear, Dr. Lee just "read" the ultra sound report and told me to come back 6 month. I totally pay $90 for chit chat with him (not medical related) for 5 mins each time and then sent me home. I will not go to this Doctor again, actually I should have stop seeing him last time. Not sure if anyone else had the same experience, if you are, I suggest you to find a new doctor. read more

I read the review and thought this was going to be a long visit. However, my appointment was at 1:45, and I was done by 2:30. Dr.Lee was kind and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable throughout the whole visit and also learned a lot about feminine health. The staff was patient and nice as well. Not sure why there were so many bad reviews. I went to a few gynecologists, and this was the best one I've encountered. I would definitely recommend this business! Bonus, the view outside the office was so peaceful. read more

I would give this place ZERO stars if I could.... The front desk receptionist claiming to be the "MANAGER" was harsh and PLAIN RUDE. My cousin was 10-11 weeks pregnant through IVF treatment and she kept yelling at her. Her attitude was absolutely unacceptable and my poor cousins abdomen was hurting after the whole time. Dr. Lee is alright , every time we go can not fully understand what he is talking about , poor Mandarin speaking might as well speak English or have a Mandarin translator. I bet alot of patients are confused what he is saying. The worst is their staff lady in the front, utterly unprofessional, has an attitude like I owe her money and have no patience at all. Overall feeling of every visit is bad, the lady in the front made it even worse. Dr. Lee has been my OBGYN for years, and has delivered all three of my babies via natural delivery. Very pleased with him!

Dr. Lee is fine if you don't care too much about bedside manner and having given the time you need. Especially for intimate health instances regarding babies and lady parts and especially about cancer. His office staff is absolutely horrible; they say they'll call you back and never do. In their office, their world, letting patients to wait one hour with an appointment is normal, it's not occasionally, but NORMAL. Amazing doctor, I went there with my wife, but the front office KITI very rude, unethical unprofessional, she was yelling and very loud, I feel very bad for the Dr Lee to have a person like this in the front dealing with pts, my wife had the same incident twice, dealing with her, she let it go the first time, but when same thing happened on the phone today, she decided to switch to another provider for her treatment. Dr. Lee is my OB/GYN and helped delivered my first son this year. He has always been friendly, patience and answered my questions. Very easy to talk to. I admit the wait time can be up to an hour at times but honestly, what doctor offices these days don't have a long wait even with an appointment? Especially if he has emergency deliveries to attend to. When this did happen, his office would call to notify me and see if I can come earlier to avoid the unexpected delay. Not sure why some yelpers say the office staff are rude. I never encountered this throughout my entire pregnancy journey here. All the office ladies have been nice and helpful despite their hectic day. I actually have to drive 1-1.5 hours to see Dr. Lee and could have easily consider changing my plan for a more closer doctor, but my husband and I trusted him after our first visit and decided to stay. I'm glad we did. Should we consider a 2nd child, we would still choose Dr. Lee. read more

Dr. Lee is very busy. You'll need to make appointment at least 1 month in advance. The wait time in his office is average 30-40 minutes. I made an appointment 3 weeks ago to see him and his front desk clerk marked the wrong time, so I had to reschedule my appointment again. When I went to my appointment to get the result of my biopsy today, Dr. Lee did not even remember who I am. He asked if I had any questions when he walked in. I told him that I was there for the result. Then he asked if I get my ultrasound done and he replied to himself that I didn't need one. So I reminded him that I was there for my biopsy result. He seemed confused and flipped through a lot paperwork. Finally, he found the result on a piece of paper. He went through the paper and said I have period, but not producing eggs. I don't have cancer, but there is a possibility that I might have. So he asked me to take birth control pills, get another ultrasound (3rd one this year) and return in July. I think my fortunate teller can do better than this. read more

I had an appointment with Dr Lee and even with my appointment time, I had to wait 3+ hours to be seen. I understand long waits at doctor's offices as this is my second pregnancy, however, 3+ hours wait time with an appointment is just ridiculous. At the time I had seen Dr. Lee I did not have insurance coverage so I had agreed to pay out of pocket for the visit. When my mother had tried to pay for me as a nice gesture, she was not informed it was CASH ONLY. So when she had tried to pay with her credit card, the nurse was very rude in turning her down and saying it's CASH ONLY. My mother had kindly asked "how come it is cash only?" just so she could have a better understanding and the nurse once again in a loud and very rude demeanor replied in mandarin, "Well what do you think? All doctors are cash only". I have to say this is very demeaning and rude of the nurse. There are much more polite ways to explain situations and NO! not ALL doctors are cash only. Besides the fact, the nurse really needs to learn her manners. Doctor Lee was nice, however, did not have patience. I had a lot of questions due to this being my second pregnancy and being so close to my first.. I'm 4 months pregnant and my son is 11 months old. I was concerned as to if I had anything to worry about since my first born was an emergency c-section. He did not care enough to answer my concerns. Once I had changed my O.B., the nurse at Dr. Lee's office called to inform me I had a prescription for pick up at their office. I asked her what it was for? She just told me the name of the prescription.. Well let me say this, do NOT call me to tell me I have a prescription and not inform me what my blood test result was which resulted in me having to take this medication. I am currently already on other medication from my current O.B., did she not think twice and find out first if this would even counter any of the medication I am currently on? Overall, I wouldn't even give this place ONE star if i had that option. They are not professional, knowledgeable and frankly don't have a heart. I would NOT recommend anyone come to this doctors office. There are many other doctors in the area that are willing to be more helpful. read more

I really dislike this office. The staff is really friendly but they're always so over booked! It's ridiculous. My first time there I waited about 3+ hours to be seen. Every other time the wait is anywhere in between 1-1.5 hrs (with appointment). Sometimes there's so many people there you have to stand but the only issue with that is that the office is so small you will have to stand by the door which blocks traffic coming in and out. SO usually I go walk outside or sit by the steps for a good 30 minutes until something clears When you finally get seen, you can tell the doctor is in a hurry which can make you feel like you should hold back on questions you might have. I really wouldn't recommend this office especially if you're pregnant. (The standing, long waiting and rushed appointments may get you a bit cranky). O_O read more

Besides the looooong wait in an office with no telephone reception and wifi. The staff, especially the phlebotomist was the worst I have ever seen. I have many blood drawn and none of them is as disappointing as the one at dr Lee's office. The needle came out mid way and my blood was all over the table,floor...... only a tiny amount got into the tube. I questioned if that's enough and she was certain. two weeks later the staff calls me and tell me that I need to go back ASAP because they never got enough blood last time and dead line for this specific test is approaching. After wasting all this time and risking the accuracy of my results, she was rude on the phone and told me it's NO ONE's fault! As a phlebotomist she did not know how much blood to draw . This is a very busy office. The front desk tend to way overbook the appointments resulting super long wait each time. I have only been there 3 times, all 3 times the wait was about one hour. It's also difficult to make appointment, some times no one picks up the phone (during regular business hours), or they put you on hold on for over 10 minutes.. Some employees are nicer than others and some are just very unprofessional with bad attitude, all depends on which one of them you talk to. One of the front desk asian women (not naming names but her first name starts with K), cocky and impatient, reluctant to answer questions, promised to call with information and failed on two separate times. Dr. Lee himself seems nice but he is also busy, he would rush through the appointment without explaining too much which I thought a good doctor should spend more time answering questions. read more

Dr Derek Lee is very kind and patient with his patients; he explains everything in detail. The only problem is his front desk staff which makes us think whether or not should we change the office. Because of Dr Lee we do not want to change the Dr, but I will much appreciate if he talks to his staff to be patient and learn customer service skills. There is a new staff now at front desk who is very rude, she has no patience at all! She talks to us as if she is doing a huge favor to us, but its her job! I have been going to doctor lee since he was still in a small office near the Puente hills mall. I really liked going to him until he started to overbook patients and the wait time was a long wait even with an appointment. When I delivered my daughter he didn't make it to deliver her since he was so busy that another doctor had too. It is ashamed since I liked him as my gyn :( read more

If it is possible to give a 0 star to this doctors I definitely would , this is the second time I've had to come to him because the first time I had come In for a biopsy and he wouldn't see me because he was busy . He set me up for another appointment over 4 months later at 10 in the morning . I arrived at 945 and I am still waiting to be seen , it is almost 12 o'clock . This doctors office is understaffed and seems like they always schedule to many people In one day. I would not recommend this obgyn at all . Despite the other reviews, I have to say Dr. Lee is the most caring doctor I know. I have seen many doctors, and most of them only spend no more than 5 minutes on each visit. Dr. Lee is the only doctor that takes the time to answer all my questions, even though he is super busy. I also find all of their staff is quite helpful. I know it is annoying to still have to wait with an appointment, but I have not had any doctors visit where I don't have to wait for at least 30 - 60 mintues. My suggestion is to bring stuffs with you to do: ipad, books/magazines to read, open up mails from home, etc. read more

Long waits, the staff is very rude, he over books himself, cannot get through his phone lines. His calls are forwarded to an answering service who then sends your message to his office, they never respond so don't hold your breath. My appointment was set 6 months ago, and I called in 1 week prior to confirm my appointment. The nurse said that my appointment needs to be rescheduled because they are moving to a new office on the day of my set appointment. I asked why no one had called me to notify me. They nurse said that they girl who's in charge of the scheduling only works 2 days every week and haven't had chance to call everyone. And asked me to reschedule to 1 month later and to weekday appointment. I told her that I cannot do weekday that why I set my appointment 6 months ago. She said that nothing she can do. And the attitude was very bad. At my new appointment day for 9am appointment, I was 3rd on the list. Doctor didn't show up until 9:45am. And I waited 2.5 hours to be attended. Because there was one woman who's appointment is much later than mine, but she brought breakfast to the nurses and doctor and was able to see the doctor before me. Not the greatest doctor's practice. I'll come for my appointment and usually wait for over an hour to be seen by the doctor. I've even had my appointment canceled last minute due to him going into surgery, which I can understand but it's annoying. Doctor is nice however don't really feel like he hears me out with symptoms and disregards them. Wish he would listen more and be helpful.
