Dr. Lopez's Whittier office has been closed for several years. One of best doctors. Kind, caring, knowledgeable. Good luck Dr. Lopez.

I emailed the office staff of my new insurance card 2 months in advance and hadn't heard back. I followed up 1.5 weeks before my actual appointment date and Ari lets me know the device is covered by the insurance, but it'll be $95 for the insertion. Two days before my appointment, an office associate called to reschedule my appointment to a day earlier. I wasn't too pleased about the date change since I was coming in from out of state, but it was one day, it shouldn't have been a big deal. I really should have taken that as a red flag to just cancel my appointment. During my service, Dr. Zahedy-Kapusta recommended I get a pap smear as well, which was done. I was under the impression Dr. Zahedy-Kapusta would give the same IUD, but she did not and inserted a new one that was 20% larger than the last. She did not mention the new characteristics of the new IUD - can be kept in for 6 years, it's 20% larger in size than the last one, etc. These are items that would have been great to know before I nearly passed out from the pain. She gave me a brochure of the new IUD after the procedure was done. I also never got results back from my lab -- I love that they tell me "No news is good news. If you don't hear back, then your labs were fine." LOL??? If that experience wasn't bad enough, the office associates had billed the wrong insurance, even though I provided a copy (front and back) via email 2 months prior, provided a copy while I was in person (the office staff obtained a copy as well), and yet somehow, the wrong insurance was still billed. When I informed their offices a month when I received my EOB, they said they'll correct and re-bill the charges to the correct insurance firm and told ME to follow up in 1 month. I'm not sure why I should be the one to their jobs, but to top it off, Ari had checked with the wrong insurance altogether and now I'll have to pay out of pocket for the entire procedure. The cherry on top? Ari says it'd be $95 for the IUD insertion but the EOB states it's $195 for insertion -- so did their medical offices just bill me $95 and also bill the insurance firm? I'll never come back here again. Dr. Zahedy-Kapusta might be a great doctor, but the focus seems to have shifted from OB/GYN women healthcare to cosmetology.

But I was coping with my husband whonwas dying of cancer so I wasn't necessarily completely attentive to my own care. This pill was controlling some serious pain. After I stopped taking the pill I was in excruciating pain but couldn't tend to myself because my husband was now dying. All my attention went to him. After finally getting back in to see Dr. Leung 4 months later to start the pill again she insisted I try the IUD. I wasn't to comfortable with the idea but she was really insistent it would be better. I decided to try it and so began 2 years of the worst pain I have ever experienced. After she inserted the IUD I ended up with a UTI. After I healed from the UTI the symptoms never went away. I saw a urologist who also was a bad experience. He the diagnosed me with Interstitial cystitis. I told Dr. Leung at my follow up that I really thought the IUD was causing more pain. She insisted it wasn't the IUD. My urologist insisted it wasn't the IUD. Well I trusted them both. For 2 years I changed my diet drastically to manage Interstitial Cystitis assuming that was my problem. Finally in Dec. of 2025 I insisted the IUD be removed really convinced it was causing some of not all of my symptoms. I even paid cash because my insurance didn't kick in until Jan. 2026. I saw Dr. Melnik who listened to my whole story and removed the IUD promptly. For 2 weeks I felt 100% relief. Then I ended up with another UTI. And here we are again. I am now healing from this UTI and while I'm getting better the progress has been painful and slow. To think all this could have been avoided if Dr. Leung had just listened to me and removed the IUD instead of convincing me it wasn't the IUD. I have also changed my urologist. This whole process has been a nightmare and not something I wanted to experience and helping my husband fight sarcoma for almost 6 years. After his death I was mourning but looking forward to some much needed rest. That is still yet to happen 2 and a half years later. Doctors please listen to your patients. If they tell you something isn't right give them the benefit of the doubt.
