The body check was the worst experience I've ever had at a Dr office..she was rude..rushed..and didn't use a light which I discovered this morning should be done. The whole experience at this place was humiliating and I cried the whole way home..I found out this morning that a couple spots need to go to biopsy and probably should have been found 6 months ago. I don't remember the young Dr's name or the assistant in the room with us but just picture 2 mean girls..condescending rude mean girl 1 with a clip board and the other making you feel belittled and violated..literally cried all the way home..glad my husband was there to drive me because I wouldn't have been able to see through my tears. A few weeks ago, I was laughing while reading all of these 1 star reviews. Now I am writing one…read more And for a very good reason. So before I saw all of the "great" reviews this place has, i decided to make an appointment. I made my appointment, and as soon as I finished- the Yelp reviews popped up. Yup. Over 100 1 star reviews. I read quite a few and instantly decided that I needed to save myself a headache and cancel my appointment. I called this place and left a very detailed voicemail of all my information, stating I just made an online appointment 5 minutes ago and would like to cancel because of how poor the reviews are. Nobody called me back, so I assumed they cancelled my appointment. A few days later I received a reminder text about my upcoming appointment...I responded right away and left another voicemail (does anyone pick up phones at this place lol) explaining that I have already cancelled this appointment. No response. Again. A few weeks later...I received a $50 bill for not showing up to my appointment!!! Hahahaha oh my. Now I see what all of these yelp reviews are talking about. Horrible experience. I never set foot in this office or talked to one person and they have the audacity to try and charge me $50?? Even after I left 2 very clear and detailed voicemails explaining that I want to cancel and stated my reason for cancelling. I even texted their text system every time they tried telling me I have an appointment. They do not use a DONOTREPLY texting system, they can absolutely see the texts. So 4 attempts to cancel an appointment and they still try to charge me $50 for a no show. I already called their service number and was met with an interesting conversation. The lady on the other end told me that the appointment I made was for the very next day and since I cancelled the appointment, it was within 24 hour notice so I was charged. She also said since this is my first time, they will clear the charge. Cool. I accepted what she said and they got rid of the charge. ...but what she said was not true at all. My appointment was for 5 days after I set the appointment. I got a text confirming that I made an appointment. I also got another text reminding me about my appointment a day before the scheduled date. I didn't bother telling the lady this on the phone because she said she was getting rid of the charge. I'm confused as to why she lied about my appointment being made for the very next day and that my cancellation violated their 24 hour rule. I first cancelled the appointment 4 days before the actual appointment. Oh well. This "business" if you can even call them that - is an embarrassment. I truly believe every single one star review I see for this place. I have experienced it myself. They are not organized, they clearly don't listen to voicemails or take the time to cancel someone's appointment so they can try and snake you for $50. Im convinced they didn't even bother to look up the fact that I did call them and text them multiple times. They just gave me some BS they give to everyone "you canceled within the 24 hr period you owe us $50". I can imagine a lot of people just accept this and pay. What a horrible business practice. I'm sure that's how they get most of their money. No way they have many repeat customers.

I previously left a 5-star review after my initial visit because I was impressed with the provider…read moreand felt optimistic about my treatment plan. Unfortunately, my experience after becoming an established patient has led me to change that rating. On June 30, I was prescribed clindamycin gel, tretinoin, and spironolactone for hormonal acne. After about a month of treatment, I began developing a significant breakout along my jawline, neck, and chest. The flare-up continued to worsen over the following weeks and became concerning because it was unlike anything I had previously experienced. On July 31, I called the office to explain my concerns and ask if the medications were simply not working yet or if I might be having a reaction. I was told someone would contact me, but no one ever did. After waiting nearly a week without a response while my condition continued to worsen, I called again on August 6 and asked to speak with a nurse or provider. The only response I received was a portal message advising me to use the clindamycin gel up to twice daily and to continue waiting for the spironolactone to take effect. As my symptoms became increasingly severe, I called again on August 6 and multiple times on August 7. I explained that the breakout was spreading, becoming itchy, and that I was concerned the gel itself might be making things worse. Each time, I was told someone would get back to me. No one did. I also asked whether I could come in to be evaluated and was told there were no appointments available. Ultimately, I became concerned enough that I started reaching out to other dermatologists and even considered going to urgent care. Thankfully, another dermatologist was able to fit me into their schedule on short notice. After being evaluated, I learned that I had an infection that required a month of antibiotics, prescription creams, medicated washes, and blood work. What frustrates me most is not that I experienced a complication. Sometimes treatments don't work as expected, and unexpected issues can happen. My disappointment comes from the lack of communication and follow-up despite multiple calls over the course of a week while my condition was actively worsening. The only guidance I received was essentially to continue using more of the medication, without anyone taking the time to speak with me and fully understand what was happening. As of today, I still have not received any additional follow-up regarding the concerns I reported. Patients deserve timely communication when a condition is rapidly worsening, and unfortunately that was not my experience with this office. I would have much preferred someone simply speak with me, assess the situation, and determine whether I needed to be seen. The lack of response ultimately forced me to seek care elsewhere, where it was quickly determined that I had an infection requiring treatment. That experience has significantly changed my view of this practice and is the reason I can no longer recommend the Crystal Lake location.
