Extremely disappointed with understanding at Derick Dermatology. Understandably I was 10 minutes late for an appointment due to flooding and road closures but the staff at the office would not honor the appointment. On previous appointments I would usually wait a minimum of 15 minutes before being seen. Is it fine for the patient to wait but not for the NP? There are too many Dermatologist offices that are more understanding. read more

Seniors beware!! I am a senior citizen that had to go back to work to pay my bills and eat. I needed to reschedule my appointment and they charged me 50.00! I can't afford that and will find another dermatologist that is more compassionate. They clearly don't care about seniors. read more

my son passed out when the nurse was trying to find his vein for bloodtests . I caught him before any of the other 3 attendees even knew what was happening, I shouldn't have come back for my own skin problems but I figured Derrick Dermatology might have gotten better in 15 years. They got WORSE! I was diagnosed with " excema" and told to return in 2 months for a follow up.They conveniently have an on-site pharmacy but was told my insurance wouldn't approve one of the creams so she would work on it and contact me by the end of the day, she did not. The next week while my hands were bleeding from the condition, and burning - they called and told me to continue using what was prescribed and had no clue that I never got it. Soooo, they made some phone calls , I got the cream, hands got worse and they suck. read more

I made an appointment online through their self booking service. They sent me a confirmation email and the morning of they sent me a looking forward to seeing you email. When I arrived at Derek dermatology they told me my appointment was canceled because I had not previously been seen at their office before. They told me that they had called me a half an hour earlier to cancel my appointment and I checked my phone and there was no phone call. They also told me that my appointment was not available to keep even though they had just sent me a confirmation email that morning and my appointment was at 9:25 AM and I had arrived early. I told them that did not make any sense and they still refused to budge and keep my appointment. I asked to speak with the office manager and the front desk agent said the office manager responded via text that they would not keep my appointment. The rest of my family (regular patients) and I will never go to Derek dermatology again. read more

This is a really great dermatology practice! I've been treated on multiple occasions and my husband has as well. Diagnosis and treatment are always spot on and solve the problem. They have an in-house pharmacy which I really appreciate because then you can start medication right away. Office is gorgeous and super clean. Staff is efficient, caring and friendly. Appointments are easy to schedule with little waiting time. Very pleased--I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

Received a text saying that I needed to immediately go to the hospital. When I called to say that was inappropriate to text and not call, Ashley the receptionist told me to "calm down." Then made 2 appointments after the situation, in which both were cancelled. Call to get my prescription refilled and of course Ashley answers; she told me I was a liar because I explained why I haven't been in office appt for a while. As someone with a PhD, incompetency in a medical office is embarrassing. Qualified employees are necessary to work in medical offices. Not only this location but crystal lake and Elgin as well, I have yet to meet a competent individual. Will not be returning and urge everyone to steer clear of this place. Dermatologists of Illinois is a much better company to bring business to. read more

Terrible at communicating costs and procedures. Came in for what the pre-appointment documents portrayed as a pretty quick and simple procedure, ended up needing local antiseptic and stitches (the doctor said it would be 1 stitch; there were several.) The bill was $1000 with no heads up. read more

Had the best dermatology experience here at the McHenry location. I am always wary of the quality of service with any organization with multiple locations, but this operation is top notch from check-in, review and documentation of health history, the quality of the doctor (Dr Hensley) and the assistant (Sarah). The lobby is immaculately clean and looks like a designer showroom; the front desk staff is very friendly and equipped with the latest technology for efficiency. The orientation toward consistent process is very apparent and is impressive for any medical facility. Dr Hensley is super upbeat and very thorough in her examination. Five star experience all around. I am SO excited to have found this place as I am new to the area. Surpassed my expectations and my experience with any dermatology practice. BY FAR! read more

I went in for a look at a skin tag to make sure it was not something else. They wanted to charge me $100.00 to remove it. I put apple cider vinegar on it and removed it myself. They did not bill my insurance Then when I did not pay the bill within a few weeks they sent me a letter saying they will no longer be able to provide services due to my overdue balance and for future skin care, we recommend that you promptly find another dermatology practice. So I am taking their advice and looking for a friendlier service. Their offices are beautiful but their price gouging is outrageous. BTW I could go to my GP and get the skin tag removed for way less than what they wanted to charge. Beautiful offices are expensive. I also think they are more into make me beautiful target market than care. read more

do not go here unless you do not have anything else to do in life. hour and a half before our 2 appointments they called to cancel because they made 1 of 2 appointments for a 10 minute slot and not 15. i was willing to give up my appt so my daughter could have them and then be seen as it would open up more time. then next excuse comes of they had another patient booked for my time. still my daughters was there but 10 minutes and not 15. so for 5 minutes of a mess up on hers they wouldn't see her. we sit in waiting rooms longer than 5 minutes. so here she missed hours of school because of 5 minutes and their mess up. it sounds petty but it's not when they had days to realize this and contact us, call the morning of, missed hours of school and no care to try to get her in to fix at least one of the appointments. beyond annoyed and frustrated! will be finding somewhere else for our family! read more
