He and his nurse, Lauren, took SO much time talking to me, showing me pictures, telling me about his practice, and explaining why his procedure was so unique. I'm now 10 months out and I look and feel so much better, so much more confident. Dr. Byun's office staff is also incredible. Lauren and Lindsay are warm, friendly, skilled professionals that aren't intimidating or uppity in any way. Such a different vibe than a previous doctor that I'd seen. I showed up at all my post-op visits with a list of questions and they listened and walked me through every concern that I brought in with me. Healing takes time and comes in phases, so I needed to be talked off the ledge a few times with a gentle reminder to just be patient. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Byun. He is an amazingly talented, detail oriented 'perfectionist' surgeon that performs cutting edge signature procedures that will no doubt be copied and become the norm in the plastic field. By repositioning the actual muscles in the face (not just the skin) his end results look incredibly natural. No 'wind tunnel' looks are ever coming out of his office! When I called to verify my new appointment, they told me I was never put in the system and that my appointment did not exist. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, they said I would have to pay an additional $50 fee before I could even schedule another appointment. Any attempt I made to explain what happened or reconcile the situation was immediately shut down with "as per our 24 hour policy..." despite the fact that I was never informed of that policy when I called to reschedule. I followed the instructions given to me by their staff and still ended up being penalized for something that was clearly not my fault. The way this situation was handled felt incredibly unfair and unprofessional. Patients should be very cautious when scheduling or rescheduling here because you may end up being charged for their internal errors.

She told me all i needed was a good med spa and, while she didn't know her personally, she was impressed with Dr. Amy Taub's work. I looked up Dr. Taub and was excited to see she was right in my backyard at Advanced Dermatology. I called to make an appointment and they told me she wasn't seeing new patients for at least the next year. Never deterred I called their other location in Lincolnshire and they fit me in for a consultation later that month. During the consultation I met with Dr. Taub's lovely and very informative assistant and then Dr. Taub herself. They gave a recommendation for filler (which I've always been afraid of, but figured worth a shot) and scheduled me in the Glencoe office for a few weeks later. Apparently she is only in Glencoe on Thursdays, which is why it can be tough to get an appointment there. Appointment day arrived. I was a little scared of the pain, but figured it couldn't be worse than childbirth. Thanks to Dr. Taub and her amazing staff it didn't hurt at all. They also blow cold air on your face during the process, which felt really good after being outside on a very hot day. I left a little sore with very minimal bruising...and could already notice a big difference within 5 minutes. Dr. Taub didn't use all the filler i had purchased because didn't think i needed it and said the under eye area is very sensitive, but scheduled me for a quick follow up next month to see if i needed more. My senior parents rushed to accompany my daughter. My daughter has a very challenging schedule with HS Sports and this visit was scheduled some time ago to accomodate that. She rushed after school to get there. She was rejected by the Office Manager and could not be seen. WHY HAVE A CONSENT FORM IF IT IS USELESS? Why ask me to fill it out? Why waste our precious time? We are done here. They lost 2 patients today because of this ineffective office management and not following their own policy. The office manager is in need of training and Dr Goldberg should review her policies and educate her accordingly or seek a staff that knows what they are doing and do not bring an attitude that was so unnecessary. It takes a village and the office staff represents the Doctor and if they cannot do so in good spirit then that is sad. This was the last straw. Moving on....

Suffering for years, having multiple dermatologists do nothing but prescribe steroids, burning ointment or immunosuppressants when all you have to do is spend 5 days on a patch test, learn your allergens, and then avoid them and you're fine. I went to my derm who referred me and cried thanking her for referring me to Dr. Schemen because it was a MISERABLE time until they helped me. Of course, you might have a rash that's not due to a contact allergy - but so many are finding help here regardless, I think it's worth going. RUN... don't walk.

We were 7 min late. I own that. Receptionist got me in the room with paperwork to finish at 15 min past appt time. Assistant walks in and says due to us being late, we can only discuss 2 top things, and full exam isnt an option. Unfortunately, as I counted on full body exam, and my daughter is a 15 year old, I did not recall specific areas of concern, as body scan would have resurfaced these. Assistant further said that appts itself is 15 min so we are past our entire time. Which is totally inaccurate as when I was there for full body scan, they cut a part of my mole and sent to lab. So that was the same appt and def lasted more than 15 min. In-between assistant and Karen walking in, I gave quick glance at my girl and found one of larger moles I needed doctor to look at. When doctor Karen Chen walked in, she has same attitude that we are late and thus no full exam is allowed. She did not ask me what was the issue and why I brought my child. She went on to address irrelevant minor issue my daughter brought up that was more cosmetic in nature than representing any health risks. She went on for 10 min to talk about the first issue. Finally I had a chance to bring up the real issue which was large mole. My daughter hesitated to lift up her shirt and show it to doctors. She looked at Karen and asked "should I lift my shirt". To what Karen did not say anything. When I tried to put some pressure to proceed and brought up that we just wasted 10 min on irrelevant topic, Karen asked me "Were you 15 min early to this appt to fill out forms". This was obviously not a real question, as we all knew I was not. So when I said "instead of arguing, why dont you look at serious things you can help with", Karen looked at my daughter and said " I am so sorry" implying that I was out of line and ended the appt. The fact that professional health providers do not look for guidance from PARENTS but undermine parents in front of children and instead listen to minors asking for irrelevant issues, is very unprofessional. I called the office same day looking to speak to Dr. Divya Singh-Behl owner of the clinic about this incident and obvious gaps in Karen's training. I did get a call back today from Tara, office manager. She left a VM. I called back and was on hold for 7 min until someone picked up. When they tried to transfer me to Tara, they dropped my call. I called back at 3.30 pm today trying to reconnect and was on hold 11 minutes before general voicemail picked up. I still was not able to connect to anyone as of now. Very unfortunate experience of critical gap in this specific Karen Chen dermatologist approach and attitude and apparently not adequate staffing during work hours.
