Two months before finding my current dermatologist's office, I suffered an awful experience at this dermatology office in Great River. They barely glanced at my skin before dismissively telling me to use some over-the-counter cream - which they must have known wouldn't help. They made my appt with two male doctors, whom I don't remember the names of, and a newly hired female doctor for my final appointment. They just wanted my $20 copay to rush me out the door with their halfhearted 'Have a nice day.' What a waste of time and money! My current dermatologists, MDCS in Commack, are fantastic! They listen carefully, show genuine empathy, and offer thoughtful solutions to approach the problem. Even when I came in stressed, which wasn't helping my skin issues, they took the time to understand my concerns truly. read more

My experience with Dr. Septon was great. She took the time to get all the information on my issue and answered any questions I had. Her front desk staff as well as her assistants were also very friendly and professional. Her office is quite busy so you could have to wait for a little in the waiting room but once I got called back I was seen right away. read more

There's something to be said about this Northwell dermatologist in Great River, NY. I should've seen the signs--considering their phone number starts with 666--but I guess I'm a bit superstitious. That aside, Dr. Septon's bedside manner is a complete disaster. Perhaps she should consider opening a book on patient care. (Appointment date: 12/19/24.) Her lack of professionalism, combined with her subpar stitching skills and the fact that I received no follow-up phone call for 31 days--yes, 31 days--is unacceptable. After speaking with her medical assistant, I learned that the assistant couldn't provide any information because the pathologist would only speak with the doctor. Okay, so I waited... and waited... and waited. Two or three days after my initial call to the medical assistant, I finally got a call from Dr. Septon. She informed me that "this sometimes happens" and they had to resend the sample for further testing. Wouldn't that have been nice to know sooner? But, again, her lack of bedside manner shines through. Now, as of today, January 27th, 2025, I still haven't heard back from Dr. Septon or anyone from her office. Shockingly, tomorrow will mark 40 days since I made the biggest mistake of switching to Northwell. I placed another call today and am praying for results! To add insult to injury, I had to return to their office two days later because Dr. Septon's work was so poorly done. I wanted the stitches removed and was seriously considering seeing a plastic surgeon. Fortunately, the new doctor I saw was excellent--well-mannered, patient, and thorough. He explained everything, recommended a scar adhesive to minimize scarring, and suggested a staggered stitch removal process: taking out a few stitches during the first week of healing and removing the deeper stitches during the second week to reduce scarring. I was grateful to finally feel like I was being treated as a patient should be. read more

I've been going to this group for years. Recently I've noticed everyone behind the desk is much nicer and more welcoming. I changed doctors over a year ago and I've been seeing Dr.Skrokov. I love that he cares about running on time and getting his patients in. Most offices do not run that way and for that I continue to come. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. He takes the extra time to explain things to me to make sure I understand. I started to get very bad breakouts on my face in my lates 20s and he helped me get it completely under control and I very very rarely get any breakouts for over a year now. The dermatologists at this practice are thorough and knowledgable. The doctors keep the patients informed and provide medical advice by using graphics to show patients how to identify signs of skin cancer. I've visited their practice to have a full body skin cancer screening or get my acme creme and always felt confident in their medical determination. A word to the wise though, be prepared to wait in this office. They focus on providing excellent patient care and in doing so may spend a lot of time with each patient. read more

been there 3X for the same issue - each time an expensive cream that doesn't work. another dermatologist that I saw for a totally different issue looked at my lip and said "you probably should get a biopsy " but didn't want to step on the toes of the dermatologist I have been seeing for this. called 9:00 in the morning to speak to Someone and was told I would get a call back by the end of the day. The website says they close at 5:30 on Fridays. I called at 5:00 and they were already closed so now I have to wait till Monday. read more

Dr. Skrokov is an kind, caring & knowledgeable & patient doctor. He is thorough in answering questions. He takes the time to call your other physicians if needed and has even called me in the past to make sure I understood his directions. He is one of the best doctors I have ever encountered. read more

Not what you expect from the Northwell Health Family. Came here as a referral. And when you wait over 2 months for an appointment you think your about to get into a wonderful practice. Little did I know I was waiting to get into a factory of yearn and churn with no individual follow up or caring. Not to violate HIPA regulations I won't get into specifics but the front desk has some great people but there or others that are extremely short and go as far when your asking a question to respond with " they will either call you a script or whatever..... they won't....". Last I checked we were a patient and we mattered. Then when you come on time for your appt be ready to wait about an hr to then be told the dr is behind 45 mins a patient and this is at the start of the day. Umm how does that happen. Wonder what would happen if I called and said I was 45 mins late. We know what would happen. And the part about the Dr's and follow up and assistance. See the stars above. read more

I love Dr. Robin Septon! She is the best. But the office is so awfully run, after today, I may never go back. Once again, I had to wait. But today I was scheduled for a 3:45pm appointment and at 4:45pm I had enough. I went up to the window to tell them that I wasn't staying any longer than an hour. The girl looked up and said "sorry". Really? That's it? We have lives also. If things were so backed up, why not a courtesy call to say they were running an hour or more late? I need to do some serious thinking about going back to a place where I am so disrespected! read more

I agree with Dawn B (from VA??) about how thorough and knowledgeable they are, but...the wait time is horrible to say the least. As a regular patient, I have always waited between 45 minutes to an hour to see the doctor. Today, it was 45 minutes in the waiting room, then 15 minutes in the examining room (in my underwear mind you) for a full body scan that took five minutes. I honestly feel they disregard the value of the patient's time. Needless to say, I left the office quite annoyed. They get a negative five stars for the wait time. read more
