Don't call at 3:40 because no one that answers the phone wants to do there job. On my first call i was told to call my insurance to see if she is listed on my plan ,after questioning and only wanting to know if they accept my insurance I was placed on hold until 3:56 then hung up on. I immediately called back to be politely to please hold again listened to music until 4:00 then nothing ..... dead space ..... Happy to know business is that good for you or you have no idea how your phones are being handled ,if this is the way you handle your business I prefer not to be a patient. read more

Receptionists are rude over the phone and in person just rush the process of trying to help you with an appointment. I don't recommend coming here at all especially if it's for your first time. read more

I was a pt. of Dr. Basuk's through a couple of check-ups. My Insurance changed at that point and they turned their nose up at it like I was a beggar. Several Doctors did the same while other quite well respected Doctors and Surgeons on my list were quite glad to come along. In the final analysis it was a blessing in disguise. The first time I went I chalked the abrasive manner up to my imagination. The second time it was full on. I felt ill at ease being challenged on my every comment. I get the impression this lady rules her office with an iron fist by the millisecond. I was actually relieved to have a legitimate out. I was so intimidated by the general demeanor here that I withheld my upcoming change of venue until I was back out to the desk. The woman was visibly annoyed that I didn't tell Dr. Basuk I was leaving. I figured as much! I didn't want the challenge so I acted like I was stupid just to avoid confrontation. I felt whatever attitude she gave me would be better than taking the "bull" by the horns! I get the impression a man acting stupid in that office goes over pretty well. It's most likely expected! Come to think of it I didn't see any men there either time. Go figure. The last straw was a small co-pay I had been notified of last week. I was going to pay it at my next statement. Nope! They put it through all by themselves without notice. I guess I'm lucky I didn't pay it yesterday or I'd be dealing with them again. I was going to use a different card but it's out of my hands! That to me is the absolute worst behavior. No faith that I will take care of it. The charge was nowhere near 30 days. Tough act! On the upside I certainly feel she was quite competent; however, my impression is the whole experience was outside my comfort zone and that's important too. read more

I've suffered from seborrheic dermatitis for years and have seen countless dermatologists in an attempt to treat the the damn thing. It has caused me a lot of stress and wasted dollars. Someone recently referred me to Dr. Basuk, who was incredibly knowledgable and understanding about my condition. She went into depth about all the causes of seborrheic dermatitis in ways that no dermatologist had done before. In addition to point out some simple lifestyle changes, she recommended treatments that had a less harmful compounds than other medication I have used before. I'm happy to say that my dermatitis has since been a thing of the past. I had a great experience with Dr. Basuk and her staff from start to finish. Dr. Basuk made fun of me for never having given birth to children. I went to her for two laser procedures each for $500 because she said that was the only thing that could be done for rosacea on my face. I still had bad rosacea after the first laser treatment so I went back for a second one, as I now also had a red blotch on my face. The second laser procedure was extremely painful -and I was then told during the procedure that there were various reasons why there would be increased pain- none of which were discussed prior when scheduling the procedure. She then went on to say sarcastically, "Oh, you don't know what pain is. You've never given birth to children." Yeah let me tell you something, I've been given more than ten novacane shots by the dentist on a nerve that would not go numb, and then gone through the whole dental procedure having the live nerve drilled, don't tell me I don't have tolerance for pain. Maybe as a "DOCTOR" you should have some kind of thought about those trying to have children & not being able to get pregnant for years & then do & then have repeated miscarriages, etc. before you make asinine statements & judgements towards your patients about not having children. Dr. Basuk also told me nothing could be done for a small cyst on my chest, I used Neutrogena body clear soap on it every day for several months & it is now gone. The red blotch I paid the second $500 to have lasered (I believe they call it v-beam) returned as bad as ever within a few weeks. I started using the Neutrogena on that several months ago & it has improved more than it did from the laser procedure. read more

My whole family sees Dr. Basuk as does many of my children's friends. She has been a long time provider of services to us for various skin problems. I have gone to many other dermatologists and have found Dr. Basuk to be the most knowledgeable, professional, reliable, competent doctor and that is the reason I have stayed with her. I had a horrible experience on my last visit with Dr. Basuk in 7/21. I went to see her for a spot on the side of my left foot that she and her colleague, Dr. Corwin had been monitoring every 6 months. When she saw that I wasn't vaccinated for COVID, she spent the majority of my visit lecturing me on the cons of not being vaccinated. I could tell she was mad that I wasn't vaccinated because she asked me why I didn't go to see Dr. Corwin. I was speechless. She looked at my spot and she was so indecisive on whether or not I should get it biopsied, she finally said to see Dr. Corwin in 3 months. Then she did a body scan that literally took her 1 minute to do. What a waste of my copay. I just saw a new dermatologist and he looked at my spot and right away said it was benign and not to worry about it, just to keep an eye to see if it changes, and he spent 20 minutes doing a body scan on me!! What a different experience I had with this visit than with Dr. Basuk. All those visits with Dr. Corwin and Dr. Basuk were so unnecessary. I believe she kept me coming back to get paid from my insurance company. I will be putting a complaint in with my insurance company. Do not go to her. There are so many dermatologists in Suffolk County that will give you a much better, nicer experience. read more

Being a new patient, I went to Dr Basuk for a 2nd opinion from a diagnosis I recently received . During the initial consult (she actually suspected what the condition was right from the start ) she was very thorough in explaining a path of testing and treatment options. As it turns out the initial diagnosis was wrong( thank you Dr Basuk) and she then began a treatment program tailored for my needs . She along with her staff are pleasant to interact with, very proffessional and speaks to you on a level that makes you feel very comfortable. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Basuk for almost 8 years. I've been seeing her on and off for acne treatments and after my last visit to her office I will never return! I recently visited her because I changed up products and my skin started breaking out worse than I've ever had in my life and I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the products I was using.. she didn't address my concerns and I had a lot of questions for her about it. As soon as she walked into the room she told me that my "skin looked horrible" and that the only way to get it clear was a very long dose of antibiotics. I didn't feel comfortable taking them without knowing what the cause of my breakouts were. She told me that was my only option and gave me that along with 2 different topical creams, pushed 2 products on me that she sold in her office that I didn't even need but because I was hysterical crying since she made me feel even worse than I already did about my skin (which she didn't even acknowledge) I felt pressured into buying them. I left there and tried the 2 topicals first and after the 3rd day my skin was burning, peeling, itchy and even more irritated then before I used them! I stopped using everything and just started using cetaphil for now till my skin calms down and I am seeing another doctor. I don't appreciate being talked down to like that and made to feel even worse about myself. As someone that has suffered from acne for years now, it consumes you and it's the only thing you think people see when they look at you- I felt I was treated unfairly and I was rushed out of the room before I could ask her any of my other concerns. I waited to be seen for almost an hour and 45 mins and I was in the room with her for less than 10 minutes. I'm not looking for a "band-aid" for my acne, I'm looking for a solution to the underlying problem as to why I'm breaking out, as a doctor with a degree and experience I thought that would come naturally but I guess not. BTW- I tried to return the stupid products that she had me spend $40 on in her office and I was told that I couldn't because I opened one of them and the other one I didn't even touch. Apparently they don't tell you this when you purchase products from her office but if you do- you cannot return them unless you have an allergic reaction to them. In which case, they will need to see you in the office again(so another co-pay and insurance bill) so they can "document" it.. They're only in it for the money- doesn't seem to be a genuine place to get help if you need it. Update: I received 2 phone calls the day after I wrote this review from dr. basuk telling me that I can return both products. It's been a week and I still haven't received a check for the 1 product they unwillingly agreed to take back because it was unopened. Since I was at work all day when she called I did not get a chance to call her back and was planning on calling her back the next day, but I can see as her response to my review it would be an unnecessary phone call. read more

I drive all the way from Queens to see Dr. Basuk. I've had problems with dermatologists in the past... not following up, not prescribing me good meds, not answering my questions. I've never had a problem with the staff responding to my phone calls and Dr. B actually knows what she's talking about. Dr. B is of city quality working out in the 'burbs! read more

I went to this office as a first time dermatology patient, with an appointment to see Dr Basuk. I walked in on time and was greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter who asked for my name. I told her my name and as I started to sign the Dr Basuk sign in sheet I was told I didn't have to sign it. After filling out a few forms and having my id and insurance card copied I went back to the waiting area, where I waited and waited, Finally my name was called and I was escorted into an exam room by a lovely young lady who told me to sit on the exam table and proceeded to verbally ask me the same questions I just wrote answers too in the lobby. I joked with her saying I just answered these questions what are you trying to see if I was lying? She replied, Just making sure you are you. I said really ?? I just gave you photo id lol. She appeared slightly annoyed and said "just doing my job". To which I nodded and proceeded to re answer the questions. After questions were answered she handed me a paper gown and told me to undress and put it on opening to the back, which I did. I then sat wearing a paper gown and underwear in a freezing cold exam room for well over 20 minutes. To the point I was going to get redressed and walk out without being examined. I understand things happen but when I can sit listening to the staff and Dr talking about some handsome guy and his big shoulders and his birthday being a day before the Dr's while popping what sounded like bubble wrap and laughing about the day all while I am still waiting to be examined. Finally before I had the chance to get up and redress the Dr enters the room without even a courtesy knock on the door. She comes in sits down and proceeds to tell me how busy her day was and that I was lucky to be there at the end of the day because the wait time was minimal. LMAO. She then looks straight into my face from her seat and asks me what are you here for? The Irishman in me couldn't hold back , so I said I have a cavity as I pointed to my mouth. LOL, she looked baffled and told me she was a dermatologist not a dentist. I said then what do you think I'm here for? I am a first timer with a family history of melanoma cancer. She said oh okay lets have a look. She waved her hands over my shoulders asked me to lift my arms where she pointed out I had a few skin tags (no kidding) , she then asked me to stand up and she waved her hand over my back pulled the back of my underwear outward for all of 2 seconds, then told me to sit again. She then tugged the front of the paper gown down slightly revealing my upper chest where she spent about 3 seconds glancing at it. Then she told me I was okay. I said what about this raised itchy mole type of growth on my left temple? She pulled down her micro glasses and looked at it and immediately dismissed it as benign. I said well what is it? Dr said some kind of technical Dr term to explain it (which I understood none of) then again said I was fine. She said If the itchy growth gets worse or bigger come back and we will remove it. She then left the room telling me I could get re dressed, getting redressed took longer than the whole new patient examination. I felt like I had just been robbed of an hour and ten minutes of my life I can never get back. She will never see me again. read more

Dr Basuk is great and amazing doctor. The wait time to see her is horrible. Arrived 10 minutes early for a 1pm appointment didn't get called in until 2:05pm Dr Basuk didn't see me until 2:45pm. I was in my car at 2:55pm. Better plan a good 3 hours of your day with commute time to go to an appointment here. read more

I don't normally write reviews but the way that I was treated at this office today, I thought that they earned one. I first started going to this practice when I was 14 for severe acne. My mother is a nurse, so i trusted her that this was a good doctor. After 3 years or so I was so fed up with this office that we searched for a new one. The wait times are horrendous. I would wait a minimum of 2 hours in the office and from there another 30-45 minutes in the exam room before Dr. Basuk even came into the room. Once there, she would spend 2 minutes looking at my face, charge a crazy amount of money to remove 3 blackheads and send me on my way. She would never answer any concerns and was super quick about things that I didn't even have time to ask. Well, it's been about 4 years since last going to this office. Reluctantly, I was referred by another doctor to go and see her. She told me another client had gone there straight from her appointment and was in an out and LOVED her. So i thought maybe it changed. She called while I was still in her office to set up an appointment for me and they assured her that if I printed out the forms online, I wouldn't wait long. I got to the office 10 minutes early for my appointment and wasn't even acknowledged for 30 minutes. In this 30 minutes, another woman arrived an hour and a half early for her appointment "on accident" and was going to be seen before me. One of the receptionists was very loudly complaining about clients and hanging up the phone on them. I finally went up to the desk to explain my situation and that I did not have 2 hours waste when I have 3 tests for college this week. I was met with a worse attitude than the woman who was hanging up on patients. She said she was too busy for me, that she never told my doctor I wouldn't be waiting for 2 hours and that I needed to sit back down. Needless to say, I was fuming. I left and will NEVER be back. This place has only gotten worse. read more
