My dog, Raider, is very anxious in any vet's office & requires anti-anxiety meds before going. The tech & the Dr @ this office were so calm & patient with him! They told me he did great while in the back briefly without me & gave me details of how he did & how they handled him. I felt very safe & comfortable with him in their care. And then Dr Mount spent a good amount of time telling us what she discovered & best treatment options & how to proceed from there. I was extremely pleased with their knowledge & care!!!! And I was also highly impressed with how much info they already had on him from communication with his reg vet prior to our appt. They were clearly very thorough with their prep (better than any PCP or specialist I've ever gone to personally). Raider wasn't thrilled, but he also wasn't petrified. I was really impressed with this business. My pit bull was experiencing irritated eyes that produced thick and dark scabs all around his eyes. Although he did not Walk Like an Egyptian the thick scabs around eyes made him look like he had on Egyptian eyeliner and his eyes were consistently itchy. The doctor took one look at him and diagnosed him with Lupus. The first oral meds they prescribed made his eyes cloudy, although it did clear the scabs. They decided to change his meds to an oral steroid until he can be seen by an Animal Optometrist. So now the irritation has subsided but there is a little bit of scabbing. I appreciate that they respond quickly to my emails of concern and they check in frequently in between appointments. read more

I understand now what causes the long wait for an appointment with Dr. Mount. Luckily I was accommodated earlier because of a cancellation. The total experience of the office visit put me at ease with my cat's condition and treatment options. Daniel, the vet technician was compassionate, utmost professional, a great listener and very personable. He was certainly dealing with my anxiety about the visit and my pet's issue. Dr. Mount took over an hour to thoroughly attend to my cat and me, providing me with a wealth of pertinent, medical information, showing the competency of an experienced veterinarian, I'll trust her with my fur baby. Her focus was on a treatment plan to make my cat comfortable, teaching me how to assist in this process. It was all about Kira's health, not about financial gains of the office, or attempting to rush me through the appointment. I highly recommend Dermatology 4 Animals. I am frankly very surprised by the negative feedback. Shocked actually. I've had nothing but the very best of service. All of the staff members have gone out of their way for my pets. In 2011 my Great Dane, Kiki, was sick. Really sick. She couldn't stand. She couldn't walk. She would not get out of her bed. She was losing her hair like crazy and had green puss oozing from her feet which were just rotten- literally. I had taken her to another vet and they ended up misdiagnosing her multiple times. Her health was so poor that she was hospitalized. The other vet said there was nothing more they could do for her. I looked through the internet for vets in Alb and found this one. My dog was seen that day. She was properly diagnosed that day with a deadly auto immune disease. She was placed on medication immediately. She was seen monthly for the time that we remained in Alb. When I left Alb, I left due to a terrible traumatic life threatening event. I needed help boarding my dogs. No one would take my sick girl because she has not and cannot have shots. The staff called around and around and around to find someone and eventually a staff member offered to take them. The staff was so compassionate and kind with me and my pet. Even to this day- I have not been in to that clinic since I moved from Alb in 2012- but to this day I get emails from the staff checking up on us. The clinic is clean. Immaculate. They are caring people. They operate an animal blood bank which I ended up taking my other dog to donate at. Bottom line is- thank you. Thank you to the staff and dr's at this clinic. They gave me more years with my best friend Kiki who is happy and healthy today. If it were not for them she would not be alive. Words cannot express the level of gratitude and thankfulness I have for this center and the caring and kind people that work with our friends to help them get better. Yes it is expensive, but that's what we sign up for when we agree to take care of these animals. Think about it... if you were in danger- do you think that your dog would think twice about protecting you? No. They would risk their very lives for you. The least we can do is give them the care they need at whatever cost we can afford. read more

I have a pug with IMHA who had a bad skin condition. I was referred to Dr. Mount a year ago. Given his remission from IMHA I had a lot of concerns regarding medications. Dr Mount is a wonderful dermatologist and together we decided to do topical medications. At the time he had yeast infections and big red patches on his abdomen. Within weeks he cleared up. He had no problems in the fall or winter but this spring he started to breakout a bit. We saw her and she got him on a regiment to clear it up. Her vet tech Daniel is so warm and compassionate just like she is. Wonderful, professional and caring practice. I would recommend it to everyone. read more

Things have changed since my last review. I seriously question how good the doctors are here now... They kept having me come back for check-up after check-up (over $100 per visit) plus giving my cat steroid shots and antibiotics for a food allergy. His symptoms weren't responding to those treatments (which probably should've been a flag to them). Well, it turns out that somehow they missed the TUMORS on his tongue and paw and his swollen lymph nodes!!!! I brought him into my normal vet (Blue Cross Animal Clinic) for a check up after getting no results and getting sick of spending so much on the dermatologist. Well, our vet seemed extremely concerned and scheduled a surgery for a day later to take biopsies and remove growths. I will absolutely NOT be returning to animal dermatology. What a dangerous mistake to have made. read more

I travelled all over Albuquerque looking for a diagnosis for my cat, Carolyn. I tried Vet after Vet and none of them could help my poor Kitty. Finally Dermatology For Animals came to the rescue. I spoke with Beth on the phone, and wow she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. She even moved someone else's appointment to make room in their day to accommodate me! Dr. Mount was able to diagnose my poor cat better than any other vet in New Mexico. Thank you thank you thank you. She's doing much much better now. Who knew that a cat could even get something called Pemphitus? I even appreciate that they were able to phone my prescription into my local pharmacy. ( those jerks took forever to fill the script, but that's a different review ). I could not get over how convenient it was. Here's to many more years of my cats happiness. Thanks again to the wonderful staff at Dermatology for Animals. Since this episode I've moved to New Jersey and even Red Bank would be hard pressed to hold a candle to the quality of service I received in New Mexico. read more

I'm only slightly less crazy than Kendall Jenner when it comes to my dog. I love him more than most people and it's a toss up who I'd save if the house was on fire..... depends on the day. My obsession with all things dog extends to his health care. My pooch suffers from super awful allergies and will dig holes in his skin without care. I was so grateful for the love and affection the staff and vet showed to Oskar at Dermatology for Animals. Seriously, I'm tearing up now thinking of how grateful I am for this staff. The vet came in and immediately sat on the ground and started interacting with my dog. The tech loved on him and was so gentle. It's terrible to watch a loved one in pain. The derm and staff put me at ease immediately and I felt total trust that they would give my boy their best care. After discussing different care plans at length I felt comfortable with the plan we selected. After treatment the staff called back a week later to check in. Unfortunately I'll be back at least once a month to keep my dog healthy and happy but I'm so grateful to be able to trust the staff for the best care possible. The price is high, specialty medical care always is. Price of treatment was discussed however and I felt that they are considerate of pricing concerns when it comes to treatment options. read more

Dr. Mount and her staff have been treating Sophie's (a golden retriever) allergies for several years now. They are very kind and caring. Since I can't go in for the visits during COVID-19, Daniel came out with the medication Sophie needs for an ear infection explained what I needed to do and how to store the medicine. This place is outrageously over priced for the service performed. I recently took my dog to have some skin growths removed. They were not capable of using cry surgery because it wasn't available at this facility. Vet, helper and myself spent less than 15 minutes. $500. This is more than my own dermatologist. A vet is not an MD and considering that the techniques used were more invasive, I can't recommend this place. Everybody was very nice. Perhaps the cost charged reflected that they were not doing much business. I have had many animals over many years and this was, by far, the biggest vet rip off ever. read more

I would never recommend them to anyone. My overall experience with this provider was not very good I was disappointed that the staff didn't seem to have a great deal of respect for this provider. This is due to them renting space in Albuquerque. They do not share their records with the 24 hour clinic (so they can do nothing for you when the vet is not there which is only Tuesdays and Thursdays) and in order to get in touch with them, I had to call three different numbers. Not only did I not talk to the vet, the advice I got in the end was useless. In addition, they were very expensive and in the end provided no extra help for my pet's dermatology needs. I went to another vet who charged me half the price I paid and really helped my pet feel better. read more
