Staff is all around lousy, from the person I spoke to on the phone and front desk who couldn't seem to care less whether I wanted to be a patient there, to the nurse who took me back and didn't seem to care either- which made me wonder why she felt the need to come back in with the doctor and observe, other than she likes to make you feel awkward. The doctor only looked at me from the waist up, which I now know is insufficient for someone at risk or with a history of skin cancer- you should get a full body exam (not great for the self-conscious, but necessary). Anyway, if you're look for a good dermatology practice I would recommend one of the Dermatology of York locations (York, Hanover, Gettysburg, Mechanicsburg), I'm a regular there now and it's great.

I never heard anything for two days, so I called their office. They basically refused to see me. I got the feeling they did not want to step on the other doctor's toes and were going along with his diagnosis without giving me an examination as my doctor requested. They suggested I go to Penn State Hershey, still without diagnosing my issue separately. I would not recommend this practice as they tend to pick and choose without seeing the patient. I can't say that poor patient care was an issue, for I was never seen. I felt bad for the person on the phone, as she was being advised by someone else, who could have given me the courtesy of speaking to me directly. In a word, describing them.... condescending! Definitely not patient-focused.

At the end of November, I saw Lena Metcalfe PA-C for Botox. She was very professional, although her injection technique was different than Dr. Groleau's. 8 days after my injections, I noticed I had a droopy eyelid. I tried Lopidine drops without improvement. I contacted Donna, the office manager, to discuss the situation. I informed her that I had spent $425 in her office on Botox to make me look better, but instead look worse! (I've read the droopy eyelid can last for weeks-right in time for the holiday season! :() I felt I was entitled to some type of compensation-but was told that droopy lids are a known, but uncommon complication of Botox, and as I signed a waiver, I wasn't entitled to any type of compensation. They've now lost a longtime customer-and bad reviews travels fast- BUYER BEWARE!

I work in the medical field and know several co-workers that also go to Dr. Mackey and are very satisfied. As far as the 60 dollar charge if you don't show up for a appointment, I totally agree with that. There are so many inconsiderate people that don't call or show up for their appointments and that takes away from her income and also other patients that need that appointment.
