There are now multiple different live music acts opinion where you are walking throughout the farmers market. There are so many vendors from fresh foods to drink drinks to vegetables and flowers. However, it was a little disappointed to see that quite a bit of the vendors did pre-orders and so in order for you to get anything from the vendor, you had to pre-order something. So as someone who was walking in here randomly who happens to live a mile away, I would've hoped for more on the spot availability. There is a huge area now just to sit down and enjoy the food or your coffee that you bought as well as mingle and mixed with everybody else. So this was a really great site to see. There's lots of families lots of children. It's very dog friendly as well, which is fantastic. If you're in the area for sure check this out. The only thing I would recommend More porta potties as I saw quite a bit of lines I would also recommend more options for seating areas rather than just the one consolidated space so meeting spreading out more tables and chairs throughout.

There were a lot more produce vendors than other markets I've seen. Otherwise they had plants/flowers, meats, jewelry, breads, sweet treats, cocktails, candles, sauces, and more! Bring your knives too, as there is a knife sharpener. No less than 8 produce vendors. 4 bakeries, unique vendors selling dog treats by the #. Lots of flowers being sold too and soaps. Sure the kids are packed in this market and so are the strollers, but there is a lull around 10am, as the first wave of early risers moves through. Forget the snow cone vendor, and get some Epic ice cream. Or a cuppa coffee from Cafe on the wall selling delicious Dark Matter coffee.

I visited the North Branch Market a few weeks ago and this weekend decided to check out the Park Ridge Farmer's Market, and it's another great market. Honestly, I don't get the popularity of something like the Green City Market and though the Lincoln Square Farmer's Market (which used to be my usual) isn't anywhere near as good. There are lots of vendors here. The portion of the market where I entered had a lot of food and goods vendors--pizza truck, ice cream company, bakery, kettle corn, olive oil (there were two!), textiles, soaps & scents, and more. I thought that street was the extent of the market, but when I neared the end I saw that it extends into the parking lot on the street and that section has a lot more. There were at least five different farm operations represented, a man selling meats, and there was a cheese stand as well. It's the height of summer, so I ended up with plums, blackberries, blue cheese and curds, some bread, and a couple other goodies. This market was a really great balance of the Farm in Farmer's market with so many selling here and various other sundries. A four-piece classical quartet serenaded folks as they wandered the market; I assume that the musical entertainment changes from week to week. They had a children's activity booth where this weekend kids were playing with clay with a local artist, and there was a community booth where a local food pantry was collecting donations (the market was also encouraging folks to buy two of an item to donate one to the food pantry). Again, their schedule changes, so I got the impression that the children's activity may be different on different weekends. The market opens early (7 a.m., I think) and the kid's booth starts around 9. Parking is excellent. There's a lot off the street where the market is held with space for a great deal of cars--I think its primary function is as a municipal lot. There's also copious amounts of street parking around as well. If you're in the area on Saturday while the market is in swing, this is a fantastic one you should put on your agenda.

I want to like this farmer's market so much because it is close to me and easy to get to, but alas,…read moreI cannot. It's a fairly small market and it's lacking in produce stands. I get that Farmer's Markets are also a great place to sell other specialty items but the vegetables are the main thing I'm looking for. Some of the vegetables looked sad and wilted already and I couldn't believe the prices they were still charging for them. I did buy some bratwurst from a meat vendor that was there and they had some good stuff available, but again it was pricey. I understand that vendors need to charge more for their items but spending way more than I would at grocery store for the same items is a turn-off for me. Maybe I'm just spoiled because I used to visit farmers markets in Iowa (Iowa City and Dubuque) and both of those were quite spectacular with a wide array of options. The best thing about this market was the fresh squeezed lemonade I bought. Thankfully the vendor offers $2.50 lifetime refills so I can buy something when I visit again.

It's a great place for kids to learn about farm life while spending time outdoors. The farmers market is another highlight, with a great selection of fresh, local produce and other delicious products. The farm is well maintained, the staff and volunteers are welcoming, and there are always interesting seasonal activities to enjoy. It's a wonderful community resource and a perfect outing for families with young children. We always look forward to coming back!
