I think my two year old liked seeing cows for the first time, and she seemed surprised by the chickens. Perhaps more than anything she was happy to see the barn cat since she said goodbye to it. We went into the farmhouse and it was interesting to see. She wanted to go upstairs but I was afraid that she was going to wan the to carry her up or down, so I vetoed that for this trip. The playground was probably the biggest hit. It's a small playground with some slides and a sandbox and maybe some other equipment. She had a blast on the slide and I was happy there were no swings because I would have been stuck pushing her for 20 minutes. There's a parking lot across the street, and for this event there was overflow parking in the church lot next door. I will keep an eye on events happening at the farm to see if my kiddo would enjoy coming to something else here.

I visited the North Branch Market a few weeks ago and this weekend decided to check out the Park Ridge Farmer's Market, and it's another great market. Honestly, I don't get the popularity of something like the Green City Market and though the Lincoln Square Farmer's Market (which used to be my usual) isn't anywhere near as good. There are lots of vendors here. The portion of the market where I entered had a lot of food and goods vendors--pizza truck, ice cream company, bakery, kettle corn, olive oil (there were two!), textiles, soaps & scents, and more. I thought that street was the extent of the market, but when I neared the end I saw that it extends into the parking lot on the street and that section has a lot more. There were at least five different farm operations represented, a man selling meats, and there was a cheese stand as well. It's the height of summer, so I ended up with plums, blackberries, blue cheese and curds, some bread, and a couple other goodies. This market was a really great balance of the Farm in Farmer's market with so many selling here and various other sundries. A four-piece classical quartet serenaded folks as they wandered the market; I assume that the musical entertainment changes from week to week. They had a children's activity booth where this weekend kids were playing with clay with a local artist, and there was a community booth where a local food pantry was collecting donations (the market was also encouraging folks to buy two of an item to donate one to the food pantry). Again, their schedule changes, so I got the impression that the children's activity may be different on different weekends. The market opens early (7 a.m., I think) and the kid's booth starts around 9. Parking is excellent. There's a lot off the street where the market is held with space for a great deal of cars--I think its primary function is as a municipal lot. There's also copious amounts of street parking around as well. If you're in the area on Saturday while the market is in swing, this is a fantastic one you should put on your agenda.

I also loved that they had some food trucks theres to offer a good beverage or bite to eat as you peruse! Definitely try to stop by early to ensure nothing is sold out!

Wednesdays from 4-8pm starting June 4 and running till August 27…read more The market is located next to the newly finished "Petal Porch" running a block long on Prospect St between Main & Elm St. The market has a wide variety of vendors: honey, jewelry, kettle corn, coffee beans, sweets, spreads, artisan goods, pet treats, soaps, candles, and more! The market has some brick and mortar stands as well as true small businesses. Some vendors will be rotated while others will be weekly staples. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about some of the vendor's products and where their business started! Roselle is the perfect addition to the "french market" cities and I cannot wait to visit again soon!

There were a lot more produce vendors than other markets I've seen. Otherwise they had plants/flowers, meats, jewelry, breads, sweet treats, cocktails, candles, sauces, and more! The walkway was easy to pass through and see items at each booth. Overall, this was a mid-sized french market with a good variety of items.

We were looking for Skokie Provisions for their Roasted Tomato Pesto which has no Gluten or Nuts. Unfortunately they ran out as it is very popular. There is always a long line for the homemade tamales but I was not hungry, I forgot the name of the company but you won't miss it. The atmosphere is cool and seems like everyone is having a good time and enjoying the weather. My wife ran into a vendor called Ana Banana Co. they have candles and car diffusers. I bought one for my car, Aloha Paradise scent. My car does indeed smell like paradise. Overall, great vendors and good atmosphere. Head on over.

Its well mapped out too the walk way is a decent width so there's not a bunch of crowding because the walkway is too narrow.
