Located off Descanso Way in Torrance. I am biased for fives stars cause this is my neighborhood park. Before this turned into a park it was nothing but a huge dirt field for many years. I remember walking through this dirt field on the way to High School and back my poor white shoes would get so dusty with the dirt on it. Once they built the park it was nice green grass and the dirt trail to walk on around it. Then they added the kids playground. Along the dirt trail there are stops for workouts like doing push ups with the bar installed etc. Overall a nice place for picnics, soccer play for the wide open field and in the back corner a backstop for baseball which they did get rid of a few years ago. read more

Super cute hidden and SAFE park within a North Torrance neighborhood. There is not much to this park. It's pretty much an uneven pie shaped type of track, and a fenced off parking lot. The great thing about the surrounding neighborhood is that there are plenty of cars in the driveway, which means people are at home all of the time! read more

Descanso Park is a nice little stop over for parents with kids going crazy with COVID19 cabin fever, and it's FENCED. The play ground has little kids' play structure, a slightly bigger kids' play structure, and a swing set in between, that helps with social distancing as well as helps toddlers and bigger kids play a bit apart. Nothing crazy or exciting, but a good breather kind of place. There is a low fence that completely encircles the playground, which is great. It is still easy to open (and sometimes people forget to close it) and there is a road right outside the fence, so of course we still have to absolutely keep an eye on the kids at all times. I didn't see a restroom from the playground, not sure if there could be one somewhere. We carry our own potty for our toddlers so ended up using it. Adults just had to hold... read more

All I want is some shade. So, this park is nestled inside a residential area and unless you know it's there or have looked it up, your less likely to come across it. Parking is never an issue and I've been here a handful of times. There's lots of street parking and the streets not very busy so as a busy parent you will appreciate not having to struggle for parking on top of everything else. It's small but gated which I appreciate, if only all of us parents could work together to keep that gate locked. Helps us paranoid folks feel a bit better. There is no shade except for half of a picnic table which most parents stalk. It's either the half picnic table of shade or you better remember your sunscreen. I for one don't appreciate feeling the heat and giving myself more sun spots after dealing with an awesome day with a toddler. What my skin needs is to be rescued not burned. My skin was angry with me, and no I'm not a hat wearing kind of gal so I hated the lack of shade. For us introverted parents, the park isn't too busy. And sometimes you get lucky and everyone leaves. So then it's just you and your kiddo. read more

I love this part because it's always not too crowded and it's just peaceful and quiet although it's next to the freeway it has a nice serene vibe to it.I enjoy taking my daughter here for like 10 minutes to let her runoff some energy. read more

Love this park! If you have little ones it is perfect. Gated, both a "big" kids and "small" kids jungle gym, and a couple of picnic tables. You can easily spend an hour or so here and not worry about them running off out of sight. read more

This park seemed like a great idea for my two year old and 4 year old but this was truly a mistake. For example, this park is in a beautiful neighborhood full of huge houses, middle to upper class society, and this park is seriously outdated. I mean a portion of the children's play area was replaced with two boards of wood, wasn't painted over for it to look nice or anything. Just like someone grabbed some wood off the street and put it there. Secondly, the sand is NOT sand, it's DIRT! My kids were super filthy and we only stayed here for about 30 mins. I wanna take a million showers after leaving here. Lastly, my autistic son wonders off occasionally and the people here seem to love leaving the gate open for children to possibly run in the street and get hurt. The gate is there for a reason, keep it closed. The pros are that the people there seem really nice and it's in a quiet neighborhood. I would NOT recommend this park to anyone though. These people who live in the neighborhood look like they are definitely financially comfortable, they should share some love to their local small park. read more

It's a nice quiet park for kids to play in. There are two spots for younger and older kids. Jogging are for people to run too.

Nice little park tucked just off of Artesia. Nice houses in the area, and very quiet. I can't get over how clean the whole park is. A nice seemingly safe play area fenced in for the little ones. The grass is always well kept, green and lush. I go for the .27 mi. mini track that surrounds the whole park for my back surgery rehab. Just one star off for no bathrooms. read more

Great neighborhood park. I like to meet here on weekday evenings with friends to take a walk/jog around its .27 mile track (gotta get in shape for upcoming weddings!!). This park has a nice field area, but beware of landmines that some inconsiderate bow wow owners neglect. I also see plenty of families come by in the evening time, whether it is to take advantage of it's jungle gym/apparatus and swings, to play a quick game of frisbee or catch, or to take a nice stroll with your loved ones. It's surrounded by residential neighborhoods, but close to the main streets and it's not far from home, so I no complaints here! Also, there are little exercise stations around the track complete with directions and the hardware necessary to complete the tasks as directed. read more

I absolutely love this park and this neighborhood. I specifically recommend this park to fellow El Camino college students. If you need to get away during your free period but have reading to do come to this park. The neighborhood is more of the suburban feel which makes it even better because its very quite. I would sit under the tree and do some reading/writing. Don't come here on a really windy day or you won't be able to get anything done. There's many food places around here so grab something to eat and head on down and just chill. read more

This is a well maintained hidden neighborhood park. It is quiet, nestled near huge scenic trees, two sleepy streets and favors young children and seniors. You can see the entire park from any location so it is very safe. It has a walk-jog path and various chin-up bars. It has a large open grass field but no picnic tables except for the ones in the fenced toddler play area. There are NO Public Restrooms (hence 4 stars) so adults may not find it appealing for long events or mass liquid consumption. Torrance PD is usually on patrol with citations in hand for people attempting "Jungle Runs" (Public Urination) or other animal behavior. Also, people with dogs, cats, pigs or cows that are unable to understand how a leash works or how to pick up their loving pet's feces should probably head for a Dog (animal) friendly park instead. Your favorite animal should be on a leash held by a person strong enough to control your animal not just because its the law but because its the right safe thing to do. If you are in the area and you understand social contract theory then enjoy!!! read more

We loved this park when our kid was still in diapers and we had lots of playdates here. Once the kids started to potty-train we had to move on to another park because there are no bathrooms at this park. Too bad, we really miss hanging out there, it's one of the few parks in the area where the play area is fenced off so you don't worry about your kid running out into the street. read more
