To keep this short, It was my first time going into a salon to do my hair. I decided to try Mateos…read morebecause I heard some good reviews about it. I have Asian hair and wanted to get a balayage pastel purple done on me with my natural roots to create a shadow. I showed her a few photos and she suggested that I try getting chunks of purple highlights in my hair instead with the balayage. My hair took a long time and we agreed I come back tomorrow morning to get the purples in. Before I left she rinsed my hair and toned it. I went to sit down to see that my roots did not blend in with the blonde at all. I mentioned it to her to fix it and she told me she will fix it tomorrow. The next day she starts painting the purple on my hair. She then bleached the rest of my hair and she told me she was doing the balayage on me. When she finished it came to my surprise that my roots did not change a bit. I left the salon disappointed. I called back a few days later to schedule an appointment to redo my roots. That also did not go so well and ended up not getting my roots fixed besides getting a trim on my hair. I hope I find a better salon next time to do my hair.

She was so kind, knowledgeable, friendly and explained the entire process to me of the cut I asked for, so I wouldn't be anxious about how my hair would turn out. She made sure it was what I wanted! Lily was incredibly sweet, especially when she let me talk her ear off about my life the entire time my hair was being cut but I truly did have such a great conversation and experience at The Chico Hair Salon. My hair turned out gorgeous as well! I love it. She even gave me tips and tricks on how to keep it styled with minimal time and effort. Overall I must say that Lily and her mother are very wonderful, kind, sweet, and talented women. I will be going back again!

She is like a hairstylist and therapist all in one! She really listens to what you want instead of doing what she wants like many hairstylists do. Campus cutters is very reasonably priced and I LOVED how Maralee doesn't pressure you into scheduling your next appointment. I recently decided to color my hair again and went with the ombre look. I was a little nervous about the style because ombre can look really bad if not done correctly. Maralee did an amazing job! I also got a Brazilian wax from Maralee, she did great work. Graduation weekend I wanted to get my hair done but I had to be at the field early. I think I had to be there at 8. Rachel met me at the salon at 7AM. On a Saturday. I showed her a picture from pinterest of how I wanted my hair done. She put her own twist on it and did an AMAZING job. I made sure to tip her big for being there so early on a Saturday with me. I have always tipped well and respected and liked these women. I told Sadie I was going somewhere else just this once because I couldn't get into her and really needed it done. She obviously took offense to that, and told me it was a good idea to go somewhere else. They don't try to fix it they just block you from putting a review on their Facebook page. I have been in Chico almost my whole life and come from a long line of family businesses, local businesses and I will say that businesses who treat customers/clients like this will only last so long. Our businesses take pride in making sure our customers are completely satisfied even if we don't think they are right we would rather have a happy customer that an unhappy customer. They have done nothing so far to rectify the situation. They'll be others after me but I also know a lot of people in this town and I will be spreading the word of how I was treated. They are snobby, fake and there are plenty of other places to go in town that will respect you as a client. No text, no call no message to say she was late or not coming. I always see hair stylists complaining about respecting their time but she failed to respect mine. I…read morefinally got tired of waiting and went to use it on the shop thinking I could at least get some good hair products, except I couldn't find any. I struggled to find things to use the gift card on actually. I did see a couple people leave really happy, wish I could've been one of them. Oh well at least it was a gift card and now I don't ever have to worry about trying to book with them again, or ever stepping foot back into that weird smelling salon.

Made an appointment via phone, arrived and waited 5-10 minutes for a chair. The girl who checked us…read morein was nice and (unlike other reviews state) spoke English clearly. We were given an option for a free cocktail, wine, margarita or a beer as we were getting into our massage chairs, from the same girl who checked us in. My friend chose a margarita and I chose a beer. Another person came around and informed me they actually didn't have any beer (Corona) which was a bummer. Why offer it if you don't have it? Whatever, I decided on a "margarita" which ended up being strawberry wine and a lime. Umm... that's NOT a margarita. Yes, I know this isn't a bar but my thoughts are: If you are going to offer a drink, make it with the correct ingredients and/or have what you offer in the fridge. Good thing I brought my own drink, not an alcoholic beverage but 100% better than what they offered. You get what you pay for I suppose, lol. Moving on to the pedicure... They have an outstanding color selection for solid colors, jelly, design and glitter colors in both standard nail polish and gel polish. (Best color selection I've ever seen!) An older guy walked in from the back, sat at the foot of the chair I was in, said hello and did his best to ask what color I chose. He didn't speak English at all but he tried so, 'A' for effort. I chose a Classic Pedicure, and he did a decent job. He didn't make any conversation since well... he couldn't because of the language barrier. I didn't mind, I chatted with my friend, zoned out and scrolled my phone. I don't have any complaints, he gave me a basic pedicure which was all I wanted. I trimmed my nails directly before going in because I don't like when the techs cut them since often times they cut them into a shape that I don't like. I asked for "no cut, only file and cuticle removal" so that's what he did along with the massage and painting my nails. I will definitely be visiting this place again, but I'll choose the guy that did my friends nails. I thought hers paint job looked better and her nail tech spoke English so that was a plus. Overall a good experience, just make sure to bring your own drink unless all you want is water or white wine since that's what they seem to have an abundance of.

Front desk girls are even great and helpful. Although, today is the first time I might reconsider going somewhere else for my manicure needs. I was looking forward for some good cuticle care, hand massage , all the things a classic manicure includes on thier service page. My hands got wrecked from work. All I got was the nail color ( I added on the gel x service too ) and nail shaping/cutting. Once the nice guy asked how I like them I said they look great but.. that's it? No cuticle care at least? ( what I desperately needed!) and he said I needed to ask for that in the beginning. He went ahead and did it real quick but still left with my hands not taken 100% care of. You can still can still hang nails, redness, etc. Never have I had to ask to make sure I get all services they display on thier website and in house that you're paying for. Figured since it's advertised it would come with those basic needs ( which usually did come with it before!) I guess it's frustrating I'm paying for the full service and spending the money especially for gel x add on, just to get 50% of the experience. Even gal next to me just got regular gel and she got the massage! Shouldn't be consistent service? I feel crazy for questioning it and maybe that's normal but for sure make sure to ask for the whole package if that matters to you is the point of this post.
