Our women's group really liked this beautiful course--it's very pretty to look at the hills across the way. It has a bathroom on the back nine along with a honey bucket on the front. However, the signage really needs improving. (We noticed that at their Alta Lake course, too.) And the hole with two different greens DEFINITELY needs signs explaining what's going on. The nice young guy in the pro shop mentioned that to us, but by the time we got there a couple hours later we'd forgotten what he said and lost balls in the canyon trying to make it to the green for longer hitters, and then couldn't find our way to the cart path. Speaking of which, the way to the cart path needs to be much more clearly indicated. That's probably a large reason people get slowed down! read more

This review is primarily based on the housekeepers for the lodging at Desert Canyon Golf Resort. For us, cleanliness is a huge deal when staying at places during trips, and as you can see, just take a look at the sinks, bathrooms that I just had to take photos of as remarkable. These lodges are 10+ years old at least, and these sinks look brand spanking new. Tremendous kudos to the housekeepers at Desert Canyon Golf Resort! As for the golf course, I think it is a tad bit overrated, but keep in mind, golf course liking is purely subjective. Golf courses hit everyone's eyes differently. Don't get me wrong, its great to play once or twice, but for me, its just ok, again, subjective. Our group and tournaments do like it though. Something missing was ice in the carts, or water bottles, but keep in mind the price point is lower then nearby Gamble Sands. There are some really scenic holes, and I did try to capture them in a couple photos. Of things to note: There is not ATM onsite, but there is one 10 minutes down the hill, so come prepared. The wifi is fast, but once you get more then 3 devices on the same network, it slows down noticeably, also getting cellular reception is very difficult here, so the free wifi is very much appreciated. Of HUGE note: If you require a firm bed, be prepared for super soft beds here. I am in the minority that one night on their bed took me out the next day of golfing because my back froze up. This only happens when I sleep on soft beds (not sure why I thought I could tough it out this time). You could say soft beds are my kryptonite, so just be warned and prepare so you can golf the next day. The staff all around are good, friendly. But again, this 4 Star rating is primarily for the Housekeepers doing such a stellar job. read more

Terrible day at course. 6 hour round. Waited 20 minutes at 10 tee box. Cart with food and drink stopped workin before 3, after 11 holes. Clubhouse quick grav food closed when we made the turn only restaurant available. Not close to a 170$ value. Made complaint at clubhouse. No accomodation just - we know play was slow/ sorry. Worst staff could careless. It used to be a great track and had nice people. Now it's run down and the staff couldn't care less. Save yourself and drive to Gamble Sands it's worth the money. Also the space out everyone around 8 minutes so if you play here you need about 5 plus hours read more

Amazing golf experience! Top 5 places I've played for sure and I have played a lot. Course was in great shape! Not a brown patch or muddy patch anywhere. Greens were fast and rolled true. The price is now $151.00. it used to be worth driving to the course to play from the Seattle area. The fairways and greens are still great. The rough has been denied for decades and have multi thousands of spots that have no grass and your ball enviably falls into the crevices(yes I know it is the rough). For that price it needs to be better. THERE ARE NO SENIOR DISCOUNTS ANYMORE. THAT WILL STOP MANY LOCALS FROM PLAYING AT THAT PRICE, ALONG WITH OTHER SENIORS. read more

I've had this course on my list for quite a while and I'm glad I finally had a chance to play here. We stayed in Chelan for the weekend and were debating which course to play. Bear mountain is a good choice but since I'd never played Desert Canyon it went right to the top of the list. The course itself was in great condition, with lush green fairways and excellent greens. Folks in the pro shop were friendly and we got on the course right on time. Pace of play was about right and we only waited for the group in front of us once or twice. Visually the course is very interesting too, set against the golden hills of central Washington above the Columbia river. There were at least two confusing holes with two green complexes (and pins). Also the canyons come into play on several holes and eat golf balls. If you're adventurous you can also find half a dozen down there. Worth the trip and a good golf experience, especially the 600+ yard downhill par 5. Hit it straight. read more

Beautiful course! Fairways and greens in remarkable condition given dry summer. Pro shop staffed by friendly, young men who are not particularly trained on how to dispatch golfers at first tee. There was no Marshall when we played on Tuesday morning - apparently course does not have marshalls on Mondays and Tuesdays but there needs to be. Had continuous problem with slow foursome in front of us who took way too much time searching for lost balls and setting up shots. Marshall would have addressed this situation to improve the round for us and everyone behind us. read more

The greens are excellent. The view of the hills and river are amazing. The employees in the pro shop are so nice and accommodating. 18 hole putt putt is a blast. Plenty of room at the driving range. The whole Resort is just awesome. read more

Very poorly run course. The GPS receivers didn't work, there was no water in the ball washers, and if we wouldn't have left after 9, the round would have taken over 6 hours. The sprinklers were on and on one hole, the choice was either to hit into the sprinklered area (which was actually at the end of the driving range) or try a 150 yard uphill forced carry. The people were nice enough, and they gave us a refund for the back 9, but this is not a $150/round course. read more

This was a horrible day of golf. Weather was great / good for the course. The guy who checked us in was not friendly to say the least. The coffee / food girl called in. ( so of course no one in the place could fill in) for our 10am tee time. So be it. It's still a great course for avid golfers. We only drove 3 1/2 hours to play 36 holes. But at the end of 18 when they couldn't find someone to sell snacks or food after they put a 6!person group in front of us we decided to leave and contribute all of our money at another course they own. By the way way if they tell you the range is closed it's because you do not know someone. We were told it was closed and a sign said so. But as we went to pay there were some guys that were buddy buddy with the starter and he gave them 4 buckets to go warm up. Super disappointed. No food, no buddy buddy for the range, no friendly service, and a f'n 6 ''em in front of us. Horrible place, good course. Please keep in mind I'm not a snob. I have low to little request when I plan a trip. I want to feel welcome, I want a breakfast sandwich or a coffee at the least. At the turn I should be able to find a bite to eat. Or at least a friendly face. I'm you and I like you pay money and travel to play golf. I would call first and check on the conditions before I return. Or become buddy buddy with the unfriendly guy checking you in and eat first. Then pack a lunch for your next 18 and hope they don't plant a buddy buddy 6 'em in front of you. read more

Views are stunning, but they have nothing to do with that. For 100$ they could fill the ice on your cart before leaving, give you a sleeve, give you a small bucket for the driving range...but none of these are found or something like that. There is one bathroom/honeybucket outside the clubhouse for the entire 18 holes. And for the 2nd year in a row sprinklers shooting in the fringe and into the middle of the fairway on multiple holes through 10am as your playing. These could easily be running way earlier or later in the day. Course is in great condition, but the property lacks up keep on the small details and it's very noticeable. read more

Great lodge and golf! Stayed in the four bedroom condo (Friday and Saturday nights) on a golf weekend with the guys. Price can't be beat. Was able to get the stay and play rate at both desert canyon and at bear mountain. Customer service from the guy I booked with and the front desk guy (not sure if they're the same person) was top notch. We played bear mountain Friday, gamble sands Saturday and desert canyon on Sunday. Outrageously fun weekend. We'll be back again. read more

This was the second time I played Desert Canyons while on vacation at Lake Chelan. The course was is great shape and well maintained. The only head scratcher was the greens were pretty slow compared to my previous round which was played in 2014. The views on several of the holes are breathtaking and make the course memorable. The course played quickly we didn't have to wait on any of the holes which was a bonus for a Sunday evening round. We played our round in three and a half hours. I really enjoyed my golfing experience at Desert Canyons I'll be back! read more

This course is like a nice house someone has abandoned. So much potential, yet so much left undone. No water in ANY of all the ball washers. ONE port-o-pot for the entire 18 holes. There was one permanent restroom that I saw and it was LOCKED. Very slow greens and they seem infected by some disease, but I'm no agronomist. They just don't look healthy. Signage could be much better and many shots are blind and confusing. Some great views, however. read more

This was our first time playing. The sprinklers were on the entire first half at the Lake Course. When we called the office to request for the sprinklers to be turned off, Daniel asked us to play through the sprinklers or move the ball. We were soaked. It was completely disorganized as Daniel claimed the sprinklers were not supposed to be on. We were not told at the time we made tee time that the restaurant was going to be closed on Tuesdays. We will not be coming back. We played Bear Mountain Thursday and had a 100% better time. read more

This course has money written all over it for no reason. Whe I last played was during Covid but I assumed greens crew members we're not working so their green might be a little slow. I figured this out after their greens were slow as hell not to mention I bought a breakfast burrito for $11!that was coldest than the last Cold War. This course has no price being $120 a round, if you had commmon sense and are trying to make up for the land you lost inv bulls hit sales in all for it. All I'm saying desert canyon is broke as fuck from multiple golfers. Messsge to be told ****Figure it the fuck out if your going to charge $120 a round the course should be a lot more fare. Planning my golf calendar for 2016, Desert Canyon is our favorite Washington course, the course will challenge golfers of all levels, scenic views of mountains and Columbia River are fantastic! Head Pro Mark Rhodes and staff are very helpful and friendly, In 2015 Randy was appointed as course Superintendent, Randy has been on the course maintenance staff since the course opened in 1997, he knows the course maintenance and watering needs which vary by hole, using his knowledge, the course quickly regained its lush form from bygone years. Early spring golf will find the greens are a bit bumpy, but playable, as they recover from winter snow and freeze damage. By mid May they are in fantastic shape. Pace of play can be slow on weekends, as balls lost to the desert or canyons, are difficult to find adding time to the round.. The greens roll slow by design, afternoon rounds of golf often have high wind, faster green speeds have been tried and balls will not stay put on greens. Wife and I play 25-30 time each year March to October. We have played Desert Canyon since 1998, experiencing the ups and downs as the course went through a several ownership changes, since current owners took over 3 years ago, the course continues to regain it's prior glory and remains an excellent value for the dollar. Just a little background to start with. About 20 of us have rented a house in the Chelan area and had a guy's golf outing at Desert Canyon since the year it first opened, when everything about this course was spectacular. Over the years the condition of the course and poor management has totally waste a great layout. The past five years has been especially bad.a third of the greens seem to always have damage and couldn't roll faster than a 8. Even more disappointing is the lack of control on the course in regards to pace of play. 4 rounds this week, all over 5 hours with one being six. Always full of excuses.... Time to look elsewhere, this potential great course is not worth the effort. read more

Desert Canyon is the best course in the Lake Chelan/Wenatchee area. I played both Desert Canyon and Bear Mountain on the same weekend, and the comparison was not close. Desert Canyon was in much better shape from the tee boxes to the greens. Both courses are very challenging, but Desert Canyon plays smoother. I will definitely be going back next summer read more

Day 6 of our 7 day golf trip around the state in September 2016: This was our 3rd time playing this course - love it so much! I like that the ladies have separate greens on 2 of the holes. GREAT FIND with the stay and play package. By far the best deal we came accross! The hotel accomodations are top notch with a discount for golf here and at Bear Mountain and Alta Lake. Course in great condition and staff is helpful and friendly. Especially Daniel at the hotel. (He called ahead to check on our arrival PLUS made sure they kept the grill open late for us!) The pace of play was a little slow this time, but we never waited too long. Views are spectacular! read more
