Amazing trail rides with amazing views! Felt very welcomed upon arrival, not only from Jennifer but from her adorable pups as well! Jennifer is very knowledgeable and will teach you everything you need to know for horseback riding. If you have no idea what you're doing, Jennifer offers lessons to get you on track. Safety always comes first though. Jennifer makes sure that you get fitted well for helmets and that you are very comfortable with the horses before you take off for your trail. Jennifer is very familiar with the area and knows a lot of places to go to for different views. We personally chose the trail at Sh** Creek (yes, that's what it's called) because we had the opportunity to ride in the river and it was a whole new experience! You don't get to do that everyday! Hope you don't mind getting splashed a bit! Don't need to bring your phone or fancy camera because Jennifer will take all the pictures from beginning to end of the entire ride. This place is awesome! We were welcomed with a big smile from Jennifer and lots of dog kisses from Lance and Kiko :) My bf and I both wanted to take some riding lessons before hitting the trail and we're both glad that we did! Jennifer did a great job of teaching us the basics of riding a horse. She was very thorough and she made sure that we were ready and were comfortable enough to ride a horse before we hit the trail. It has been a long while since I last rode a horse (22 years to be exact). This experience has far exceeded my expectations. What we appreciated the most about this experience was the fact that we were actually RIDING a horse - maneuvering through the trails, trotting through the river, slowing down, picking up the speed, etc. - instead of just being on a horse. A must do, Yuma experience, as you ride your way along the desert sand, dune like trail (sheltered from the wind) and through the Colorado River (without getting your feet wet). Our knowledgeable trail guide Jennifer, provided bits of Yuma history along the way, while also serving as photographer. At the Desert Horse Adventures home, we were fitted with helmets, and assisted with adjusting saddles, providing time to get to know our 4 legged friends. The farm was fully equipped, gear well maintained, and lots of friendly, well behaved "greeters" to include chickens and dogs. (@ 1 hour) We then loaded up the horses in the trailers and followed, in our own vehicle, for a short drive (15 minutes) to the Levee. Unloaded the horses, and ventured along the rolling dunes. (@ 1.5 hours riding time). Big Fun!! read more

So much fun! I was a little scared as a novice but Jennifer really prepared me with her "horse handling" class before our ride. She taught me basics of leading the horse. She was stern but it's because she takes a ad try very serious! She than prepared me to navigate my horse through her obstacle course on her ranch. Once she prepared me we took the horses foe a ride. The ride was beautiful and watching the sunset and going through the river was amazing. It would be a great date night for sure. If I ever return to Yuma I will definitely be back! read more

From the moment I called for a horse ride, Jennifer was very kind and it was so easy to set up a desert ride. When you arrive your immediately greeted by her friendly dogs. I took the 15 min lesson which I highly recommend if you are a beginner rider. After, we took off to ride by the Colorado river and WOW it was amazing! We rode through the river and after the ride you feel so much more confident in your horse riding. Overall a fantastic experience! I wanted to do something fun with my wife for our anniversary rather than the standard dinner date, and DHA was a fantastic alternative! From the moment we pulled up, we were able to interact with the horses we would be riding. The horses were very sweet and easy to control as we trail rode. The whole process was very straightforward from scheduling, paying for services, and beginning our adventure. We look forward to visiting again with our daughters. Had a great time with my now fiancé after doing my proposal there. I would recommend to anyone who either has riding or not even the slightest riding experience to go. She does a course prior to the trail ride to make sure you're comfortable with the horse you're on. When it came to the trail ride the horses knew what they were doing and rode smoothly, she helps you along the way during the ride to make sure that any issues that come up don't happen. The Location is very easy to find and get to. When you arrive Jennifer makes you very comfortable with the fitting of helmets to getting comfortable with your horse. I really appreciated how safety orientated she was. After a short ride to the location of the actual ride, The trail was a beautiful ride. Jennifer took pictures throughout the ride. Very fun time! Owner Jennifer took us on the Shit Creek ride yesterday. The Gila river was quite high so our horses had to actually swim across. Such a treat! The horses were very well-behaved and Jennifer ensured that we were knowledgeable and at ease before we started the ride. As an extra, she gave us a lot of local history as we rode along. My husband and I really enjoyed our trail ride today. The Horses were perfect for our ability and Jennifer did an awesome job narrating. We were in the river for a long time and also crossed it three separate times at different depths. Her love for all her animals dogs, cats, pig, ducks and especially the horses was very obvious. Just finish the best trail ride!!! Jennifer is a very good cowgirl and kind to her horses and riders. She takes you on an hour ride on BLM land and we crossed the Gila and Colorado Rivers. Duchess, the horse I rode, took very good care of me and was easy to handle. This is not your typical trail ride that the horses all go in a straight line tail to nose, We rode side by side and it was a blast!!! read more

What a wonderful experience! It was a beautiful spring day with amazing weather for riding! Jennifer was super patient with us and allowed us to help her with the whole process - from catching the horse we'd each be riding to unsaddling and cleaning the horses at the end of the ride. Jennifer did an amazing job making sure everyone was safe and comfortable. She was even able to calm my nerves just before the trail and was very patient with us as we learned to ride (we were all first time riders).
