Check-in and check-out were easy, the employee I spoke with on the phone (a few weeks ahead of time when I had a question) was friendly and helpful, and the cabin was clean and quiet. For one person I would say the cabins are a perfect fit. They have a tiny home feel to them which might feel a little close for two people unless those two people really like each other. There's a well-maintained lawn and gazebo as well as chairs on the cabin deck which help things feel more spacious. I had a quiet night of solid sleep and woke up to a stunning sunrise. Being able to park right beside the cabin added to the feeling of safety. My one and only reason for four rather than five stars is the "no dogs on the bed or chairs" policy which I didn't see stated anywhere on their site while booking. The dog fee itself is extremely reasonable and I am grateful that they even allowed dogs to begin with but it was a rule that would have been nice to know ahead of time. Overall, I would definitely recommend CRRC to anyone visiting the Terrebonne area!

Adored the tiny wild bunnies, too! Located within Crooked River Ranch. First, we want to say a HUGE thank you to Samantha and Michelle who greeted us upon arrival and each morning of our stay. We shared lots of funny stories. We needed some breakfast bowls and utensils which Samantha quickly provided. Plus a "glass" for my morning shake. And, when we asked for more coffee packets and another pillow "Poof!" they were there. Now, this was off season and very few guests. I hope this is the level of hospitality during the busier months. But so glad we arrived after the heat and crowds. We had a king-bed yurt. Mattress was very comfy. And large soft pillows. Grateful for the small fridge and microwave oven. The oven seemed to have a grill/toast option which didn't really work for making toast. But we came prepared with granola and milk and enjoyed our breakfasts on the deck. We imagine during the summer months it much get pretty warm here. Not much shade, but spring and fall are delightful. Nearby hiking trail into the gorge would probably be best approached early or late in the day. Lots of nearby recreational activities including Smith Rock State Park. Sandbagger Saloon serves bar grub. An espresso cart had just closed for the season. Check about nearby equestrian opportunities and hiking on the Deschutes River. Also, very popular with fly-fisher folks.

After a 6 hr drive, we showed up and they told us they canceled our reservation because "Expedia"…read moregave them the wrong dates. They told us we didn't check in the date prior 8/29 (before our check-in date 8/30) and they rebooked the room. I showed them our proof of reservation showing the correct date of 8/30 and she shrugged and said "I don't know what to tell ya." I asked her why she didn't contact us before canceling our reservation and she said, "we don't do that." Mind you, this was a special trip for my husband's birthday! The manager also refused to give us a refund until I threatened to call the cops for double dipping- they took money for our reservation- that we NEVER canceled and took money for another reservation making the room unavailable. We had to scramble to find a hotel that costs 3x as much because of the holiday weekend and all they did was say "sorry". I will never book Smith Rock Resort again due to lack of accountability and respect from the owner - which is also evident in her responses to these reviews.

With and the smoke from this years wildfires it's nice to has an oasis to recover from a recent injury. The pool staff is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and gave me some me some swimming tips. I mentioned my injury to a staff member and they said that they would pray for me that night. I was in shock and amazed by their kindness never in all my years has anyone ever said that to me. Their thoughtfulness renewed my faith in humanity. Thank you :)

Super Slab: a sporty, sexy, multi-pitch trad climb. Pitch 2 is contrived and terrible though. Moscow: a un-sexy, blue-collar, no-bolted-anchors, 5.6 trad climb. Crux is an off-width at the top (bring a #4 or you'll be sorry!). I've probably climbed Moscow more times than any other trad route. Most people prefer Super Slab though, you've been warned!

Oh, Culver, this might be one of the greatest little towns to ever exist. I first moved here when I…read morewas 15 with my family. We moved right across the street from this amazing little park and I used to shoot rockets and race RC cars here before I made any friends (I'm pretty sure the RC cars and Rockets didn't help much with that haha). For a small town, this park is pretty good size. There are playgrounds, a baseball diamond and basketball courts with some stores right across the street. The parking lot is pretty big and there are drinking fountains here as well. There is very little crime in this neighborhood and the only encounter I have ever had with the police here was having my RC car clocked on their speedometer! If you are ever in Culver it is definitely worth stopping by and checking out this little park.

We'd been hiking around Camp Sherman before, but didn't even know the Metolius Preserve existed. There are 2 trailheads, North and South, each with parking. We chose to park at the North Trailhead, as we'd chosen to take the Larch Trail this day. There's a good amount of parking, and nice gravel roads throughout. Trails and trail intersections are signed well. The 10 miles of trails here are for hikers and bikes, although we only met a couple of each while there. The Preserve grounds are very pretty and serene. Gorgeous trees and fall colors (including turning larches) abound, as well as birds and the occasional critter in the brush. Everything we encountered while there was well-maintained and clean. Can't wait to check out the other trails.

Jake put a 6.5-284 Norma rifle together for me a short while back. Over a little time I worked up…read morea load which allowed an accuracy of quarter inch or better size groups which were easily reproducible at 100 yards off a bench. In a no wind situation it also produced groups which were easily minute of angle out to 800 yards. Some were even better than that. I used Hornady's 147 grain eld match bullet in front of 47.2 grains of H 4350 powder ignited by Fed match primers. I understand this is one man's experience with one rifle but with what I've seen of Jake's work I can recommend his effort to build accurate rifles over most if not all of the custom builders operating in today's market place and I have quite a few of their examples. If you're interested in developing a long range rifle you might at least give Jake a call and listen to his commentary regarding your interests. You won't be sorry.

I thought I was great at tracking until I watched him as we chased bison around after they would put the slip on us. The facility makes you feel at home right off the bat. Everything was beyond what I was told prior to showing up. We were introduced to Jake who is one of The guides up there and he as well was an upstanding man. We had a great time with Jake and he is a great guide and an amazing skinner! We are already planning on booking our next trip. I highly recommend them if your looking for a great adventure.
