Girl golfer here bringing you my review on this gem of a course in central Oregon. Located about 45 minutes northeast of Bend, the hubs and I visited this course on a family vacation. Fun fact--The course is the most ecologically responsible course in Oregon. It was created to utilize waste water. That said--and on a related note-- there are 9 ponds and a river that meanders through the course. Not to mention 62 bunkers. It's studded with weeping willows and other trees, but not a ton of shade and the trees are not your biggest hazard (the water is!). The front 9 made me feel like a good golfer and the back nine (hole 13-watch out!) whipped my fanny. We opted to walk the course as it's fairly flat. It took us 4 hours to play the course at a leisurely pace. The course wasn't busy. The staff was very friendly as were the golfers! Ron's Comfort Cafe is a good place to get a breakfast burrito or a bite before or after hitting the course. The food is about like you'd expect from the name. Good beer selection. Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend a visit to this fun, beautiful, challenging course. read more

Meadow Lakes Golf Course - Said golfers - Golf Lessons Near Me - Prineville, Oregon

We were playing here yesterday. First time. They had us stacked in here so tight it was ridiculous. Took over 5 hours to play 18 holes. Literally were meeting and having conversations with the groups in front of and behind us as we bunched up waiting to play the next hole. The front nine we saw the Marshall three times and he was trying to move people along. The back nine, he must have just given up because we never saw him again and the play came to a bear stand still. The course is fine and in good shape. Everyone was friendly but they really gotta space people out better. I know it can be a ripple effect but we were with two other groups at the first T . Just ridiculous. read more

About a week ago, met my friend for breakfast at Meadow Lakes. I had only been there for lunch. The tomato and ham omelet was tasty and my friend liked hers with cheese. The coffee cup was never empty thanks to our waitress. She was working alone yet took care of a nearly full house with everyone being helped without a wait. One of the better municipal courses I've played, Meadow Lakes has been added to my regular rotation. Located in Prineville with the Crooked River running through the middle, the course plays quite differently than others nearby, such as Juniper in Redmond with its lava field layout or Bend's Widgi Creek with its Ponderosa forest setting or the River's Edge elevation changes. Meadow Lakes is about water and lush grass - there's very little elevation change and if you keep your ball dry, you'll find grass most of the time. - The greens are in great shape, roll true. Many are quite contoured, making the accuracy of your shot into the green important. - Fairways are well manicured, and often narrow. I have found very few tight lies on this course. - The rough is heavy and can be quite punitive if your ball sits down, as it will often do. I play a high visibility Callaway yellow/black ball and have on occasion still had difficulty locating it in the rough until I was right on top of it. This is rough where after you take a practice swing, your club face will be covered in grass. - Bunkers are a weak spot - the sand is heavy, making a proper bunker shot difficult. - Water hazards everywhere, and is sneaky in some spots. For example, the 1st hole (a par 5), has water sidling up to the green area, partially hidden by trees. If you're not familiar with the course, it pays to have an app such as Golfshot to let you know where the water lies (and the fairway, for that matter). If you have nothing else, there is a useful layout diagram on the scorecard. - While not designed in the middle of a forest, the course does have trees and many get in the way of second shots. The 11th, for example, has a huge tree to the left as you approach the green. - Fairly flat layout but the yardages and correct hitting spots vary quite a bit, meaning you'll need to choose your weapon carefully on the tee. - The white tees (normally my preferred tee) play shorter than what you might be used to at most courses, with a corresponding easy rating/slope of M:64.6/111, W:71.7/127. You may want to move back a tee or two. Mind you, the course plays harder than its rating due to the narrow fairways and water hazards, in my opinion. The course is rated for seven tee combinations. - The facility has a large practice green and a good-sized range. - Nice clubhouse, amenities, etc. - Fair price. Recommended. read more

Nice well maintained course. It was affordable nowhere most in the area were very expensive.

Friendly folks working here. Course could use a little tender loving care. Some tee boxes were so dry you couldn't get your tee into them. Greens need some work as well. Lots of water on the course so bring some old balls to donate. Like some of the holes, parred 6 and birdied 1. read more

Played a quick 9 yesterday. Course was in great shape. Second course I've played in Oregon this trip - both had huge greens. Water comes into play on many holes, so accuracy counts! I also got a new golf shirt from the pro shop - 50% off - sweet! read more

Average golf course .... Definitely a Municipal Course "feel". Kind of flat without imagination. The people who play and the staff are very friendly and unpretentious (I like that). read more

Friendly and attentive bartenders! No matter how crowded, service is always quick, but not brusque. They watch for golfers coming down number 9 so if you need a drink or a dog "at the turn" then they will be waiting to help you out. read more

Love the restaurant here. Food is great, service is good, although wait times can be long during the noon hour. Prices are OK for a sit down lunch. Fries are excellent and their salads always look large and fresh but I always find something more exciting than a salad to order here. Wish they did dinner too. read more

Great view. Great service, unexpected for a golf course restaurant and the food and prices were outstanding. We WILL go back.
