No frills, no fluff, no bells, no whistles, just a ridiculously solid selection of essential oils, herbs, roots, extracts, and a small collection of extras (maybe even a literal bell somewhere, who knows). I've picked up multiple kinds of lavender here, lemon oil, clove, tea tree (a staple), and in-house blends like Brain Power, Alertness, and one of their Scar oils I love. Most recently, I grabbed the Grow More hair oil (hoping it's the hero my hairline needs). They carry supplements too, though, full disclosure, I still have a liver detox bottle from years ago. Oops. They'll tell you where things are sourced, you can shop online, order for pickup, or call with questions... the staff is always knowledgeable and kind. I was in this business and purchased some items. I swipe my debit card and the clerk says that didn't go through. So I use my credit card and it's good. I go home and check my debit card online and yes it did go through. I go back and show the clerk and she said it didn't go through on my end. I show her on my phone that it sure did!!!! Her response is to come back and talk to the owner on Monday!! No way lady I go to my bank and they verify it didn't go through. I put I stop payment and they verify it bank credits me the over charge. Then the owner responds to my review saying the immediately credit my card back.. That's a lie. Yes they credited back my credit card. But I had to go to my bank and put a stop payment on the debit charge.. this is a very shady business. This place was great! I stopped in to buy some smoking herbs and the employee that helped me out was very knowledgeable and helped me find a good blend to start with. I was quite disappointed in the service I got. I am a very positive and excited person and was eager to learn. I went in with a long list of things to purchase and the interaction was less than helpful. I thought maybe it was just her but another lady came to the desk and she was not any better, maybe worse. I was looking for Yoke Root to make a batch of salves and tinctures for my apothecary business, and did not realize that I could get Yoke Root locally. I was teetering from getting it from a homestead in North Carolina and drying the Yoke Root myself, but I figured I'd give Desert Sage a try as they are in Chandler - about a 35-40 mile drive each way from my home. Prior to going, I looked up Yoke Root on their website; they had 8 oz of Yoke Root for $22.60; I would have been able to get a whole pound of Yoke Root from a homestead (to dry myself) on Etsy for $33 - but like I said, I wanted it quickly so I opted to go to their store. I noticed that I could have bought online and picked up in store, but I wasn't sure about their order fulfillment time - so I drove over and asked the lady behind the counter for Yoke Root. She brought it out and immediately said "how much do you want?" I told her I wanted 8 oz - to which she responded that it's over $6 an ounce, and was I 'sure' I wanted that much (as if that was out of my price range). I said .. "I'm confused - you have 8 oz on your site for $22.60. Is that correct?" To which she responded "oh. That's online. You have to purchase it online to get it for that price." So I said "Does that include online purchase for pick up in store?" To which she responded "yes." So I said "Huh. So... basically, I can stand here right now and buy the Yoke Root online, with my phone, and get it for $22.60 for 8 oz." She said "Are you going to do that, then?" I told her I would buy it online, as I stood there, with my phone, and then wait for them to fill it since I was there. As I was on the last checkout page of the transaction on my phone, the price jumped from $22.60 to over $48. I was furious - I looked at her and said "Huh - I'm confused - your site now shows $48 when you just had it for $22". Thankfully I screen shotted the price of $22 - she could not argue. She immediately said "Oh. I changed the price." I responded and said "You changed the price knowing now, that I'm buying it online to pick up right now? Oh well in that case, I'm done." First of all -- this is my first time visiting this shop. I am a small business owner myself, with a rather large brand that sells locally and on Etsy. Nobody knows that, but they certainly (probably) looked at me with my less than stellar attire and thought I was just some random person coming in for Yoke Root - I can attest, that I am not. Business to business: Your online prices should be accurate. If you have made a mistake, honor your online prices because you have failed to do due diligence of making those corrections. Don't ostracize the customer. Certainly, I persisted because I did not drive that far, one way, to not arrive home with Yoke Root. But I will guarantee that I will not be back again. Beautiful store, but a long way to go in terms of customer service and friendliness. There are many other places I can go to to get herbs - while I did prefer local (today), normally, waiting 2-3 days is sufficient for me. I'm not looking for the cheapest price, but what I am looking for is an honest business that stands behind the website that they advertise their products on. read more

When I visited both workers were not wearing a mask, and one of them was engaged in a lengthy political conversation with another mask less customer (3ft apart). All this the day after the worst day of the pandemic (thus far) where a ¼ million were diagnosed and 4K+ died. I'm not saying they should close their doors, but basic mask use and social distancing should be observed (especially in a store as small as this). In early December, I placed an online order at Desert Sage Herbs and I want to share the details of what followed just for the awareness of others. I live out of state and had never done business with them previously. For the next 2 days after placing my order, I got an afternoon phone call both days but nobody said anything; they just held the line. Within10 minutes of the second phone call, I was contacted by my bank telling me that my credit card had been compromised. The bank told me that someone had tried to make a purchase with my credit card and I found out that the location of that attempted purchase was within 1 mile of Desert Sage Herbs. I contacted Desert Sage Herbs and left a voicemail telling them what happened. About 5 days later, they left me a voicemail message saying that they had just gotten my message and that the number I left the message on wasn't one that they checked regularly. They told me that while they were processing my order, they must have gotten interrupted and a customer in the store must have gotten my credit card number. They thanked me for making them aware of this. I would have appreciated an apology, as that credit card had to be cancelled and a new card had to be linked to my payment accounts. Not knowing what to make of this, I went online to find reviews of Desert Sage Herbs. Most of their reviews were favorable but the ones that weren't all had to do with customer service and I believe not being careful with a customer's credit information is a customer service shortcoming. This little cottage is tucked away in the back. The sign is easy to spot. The owner is always so helpful in finding what we need. There is a room of wall to wall high quality spices and herbal teas. Our favorites are cayenne, tumeric and Hawthorn berries. For teas we tried the chocolate chai, kiwi/strawberries, hibiscus, mint and dandelion. If everyone were to drink medicinal teas, we would not have so many people on pharmaceutical medications who need more compounding medication for the side effects. I really believe in ancient remedies. Anyway, this one little cottage has everything you need for wellness; from literature, resource books, herbs, spices, alternative medicine and knick knack novelties.
