I love living in this area because there is an international market or restaurant everywhere you turn. I am half Greek and love Baiz so I can get my ingredients at a decent price. The Baklava section or bar is my favorite spot. You can get a box of u pick baklava...or just 1 piece....may I suggest the Nutella covered ones The hot food section is great for some little bites to munch on or get a variety for the house. Heat and go yum and easy! I love the prices in the butcher shop and the meat is fresh and good. When needing veggies or fruit this is my first stop. I color my hair with henna and they have a good section of personal products. If you need a unique gift they have beautiful items here like plate sets tea sets dishes and a selection up front of items. Only some of the ladies who help you at the counters and check out are friendly and nice other than that the customer service is what loses a star. read more

It smells so good here. The restaurant inside has favorites and new tastes. Their spice aisle is almost both sided. There were some great deals on produce when I visited. There were Vegetables not normally found at grocery stores like garbanzo beans and sun chokes. Pita and naan breads were still warm when I stopped by this aisle. Impressive turnover! I love coming to Baiz and when I am here, it brings me back to the Middle East. I was in here this past weekend and stocked up on some Middle Eastern dishes I enjoy. This location still had a restaurant up front where you can order meals and sides. I got a couple of za'atar pies, spinach triangles, babaghanoush, tabbouli, stuffed grape leaves, and a vanilla/banana pudding. I put in my order and then went to do some grocery shopping. I didnt get any sweets or nuts today but there is a whole case up front if you wanted any of those delightful treats. Their fresh grocery items are very well priced and I bought ginger, scallions, radishes, bell peppers, Japanese eggplant, onions, potatoes and all of it very fresh and reasonably priced. I also picked up some pita bread and za'atar brioche (soo good)! This is definitely my happy place and love coming here when I want some Middle Eastern delights and a stroll down memory lane. read more

Wow! I was amazed at the great prices on the fresh halal meat!! I will definitely be a regular customer after this first visit. We went on a Sunday and it was busy. Large selection of groceries. Great middle eastern market fast and friendly service and quality produce and groceries

I like the Halal meat and chicken and the produce is okay, but they don't pull their expired items. You have to carefully look at expiration dates because I saw expired spices, cookies, dairy. Batteries by the checkout are so old that battery acid is leaking inside the package (see picture). I bought a shaker bottle of spice, and I didn't notice until I got home that the seal was broken, and it smelled terrible. I think it was tampered with and left on the shelf. I didn't have the receipt, and the manager would not even exchange for a fresh one. So thanks and here's my one star reveiw. read more

I have shopped all the Baiz Markets. My favorite is at Dobson and Baseline. For this reviewer there are many likes and zero dislikes. Although considerable distance I usually am there 2-4 times a week. Being at Baiz is pleasant discovery. No one knows less than I do. Fresh produce, meat department, bakery, cheeses, fruits, poultry, gifts, restaurant, candy, nuts, snacks. I probably have missed mention half my other likes. Service is always the best. Parking convenient and easy to drive in the Dobson or Baseline Rd. In the 1940s and 50s I enjoyed Lady Finger Cookied dunked in milk. I don't know of other markets having the cookies and you might not like them. The point is Baiz has a bunch of choices and you may find other things to enjoy? read more

Very disappointed about how our group was treated!!!! We had a small group of students with special needs do a field trip today to Baiz Fresh Foods in Mesa. They had a wonderful experience in the restaurant and the bakery but as they paid and left the store, two employees followed them out (one of them was the clerk who the teacher had just paid) asking if they had paid and telling them to show their receipts. Our students learn about the world by experience and watching their teachers be subjected to this IS NOT OK. I called to speak to the manager hoping for an apology which I would've accepted and moved on but the woman I spoke with told me that "that's normal!" I discovered this grocery store when I was eating with a group across the street. I purchased jallob syrup which is date syrup. But when I got it home I saw it was not the Al-Waddi brand that I liked but the brand that I didn't like. It was kind of a hassle to return the item. I did call in advance and a cashier told me there's no date sensitivity because I never opened it just bring it in and I would get cash back. But when I got there another cashier gave me a bad time and made it a big deal. But she called the manager the manager was very cordial about giving me a refund and I also brought the empty bottle of the brand that I wanted. He checked and says we don't carry it which I already know. He told me that the grocery store I purchased it from before called Haji Baba on Apache road and Price went out of business because the owner passed away. I did go to that store first and already knew it closeD because even the name Haji Baba was removed from the building and there was not a new tenant. I purchased from Baiz, fresh lamb rib s and they have different halal chicken parts marinated in many Mediterranean marinades that you are familiar with that, you could buy raw and cook yourself. Lots of fresh produce, too. I will come here again for another try on the restaurant menu, when I am in the area. read more

I've shopped there before and I was never disappointed with their products or the service. Today I bought some of the fresh yoghurt that sells for 1.99 per lbs. it's the best yoghurt I've had in many years. The ground lamb was on sale, super fresh! No wonder why God sent so many prophets to guide people who persist in showing racism, bias, and aggression. Let me explain. I visited Baiz Fresh Food Market in Mesa one day with $100 on my card. My groceries totaled about $110. I politely told the cashier we could leave out a few items. Instead of calmly assisting, she grew angry and insulted me in Arabic, assuming I didn't understand the language. But I do. When I confronted her, she snapped, shouting that she wasn't there to return items and that I shouldn't pick what I can't pay for. I explained how other stores, like Walmart and Fry's, let customers return items without trouble, but she only got more hostile--bagging items aggressively and embarrassing me in front of others. I wasn't aware Baiz had a rule about customers returning items themselves. Even if that's true, the right approach would've been a polite explanation, not insults. I wanted to talk to her manager, but I had to rush out after a call from a friend. 3 weeks later, I returned to the store and noticed the same cashier laughing and mocking me with colleagues. I approached an older man who appeared to be a supervisor. Instead of listening, he cut me off and defended her--likely because they shared the same ethnic background. She laughed louder as he backed her up. When I asked for the store manager, he soon returned with the manager, and the pattern repeated. The manager dismissed my complaint and criticized me for taking more groceries than I could pay for, telling me to use my phone to calculate totals next time to prevent the cashier from "getting angry." Then came a false accusation. The manager claimed he'd seen me throw a product on camera. I asked to see the footage--he couldn't back up his claim. I swear to Allah I never mistreated the cashier, he was lying. In Islam, people who falsely accuse others are called Munafiq, hypocrites. Some manipulate the truth to protect their own wrongdoing. The sad truth is that I was ganged up on by three of them(cashier, supervisor and manager) because I wasn't Arab. That cashier laughed as the manager scolded me, and he ignored my requests. I told him this wasn't a country where you can disrespect customers, you should learn customer service. I reminded him we were in the U.S.--a diverse where everyone deserves respect, no matter their race or background. It seems that they don't like their jobs, they should still treat people with dignity. Not only was that one cashier rude, but another woman at the store, older and similarly aggressive, seemed hostile toward others as well. Their shared background made them quick to protect each other rather than take responsibility or show compassion. Perhaps their upbringing lacked the values that foster empathy, fairness, and humility. If people like them move elsewhere, how will they cope in a truly inclusive community? You don't have to take my word for it--visit the store and feel the negativity yourself. Their rude behavior suggests deep dissatisfaction and entitlement, as if customers owe them something. But in truth, customers pay--and they deserve respect. We don't receive items for free. When I politely suggested they improve customer service, the manager doubled down, saying I had no right to tell him how to train his staff. That moment made it clear: professionalism and basic decency were missing. What kind of manager allows bullying and public arguments with customers, especially with me as a young woman? There respect towards women is this. Sadly, I feel some of these individuals still follow the mindset of figures like Abu Jahl--knowing what's right but siding with the wrong out of pride and prejudice. Maybe they do need more prophets, after all. If war in Middle Eastern countries makes you to support each other, you are wrong. You should support the right person in an argument. I am really sorry for the owner of the market by recruiting such rude, nasty and unprofessional people. I hope by living in a diverse country you learn respect, humanity and righteousness. read more

The manager is extremely unfriendly. I went on Christmas Eve at 8:05 PM and he was standing by the door as they were closing. I told him on the door it says they close at 9. The food in the deli area is phenomenal and the prices are very reasonable. Love the chicken skewers, Al sultan salad, hummus, labne and Danish feta. The giant pita breads in the back of the store are inexpensive and make great pita chips. They also have the best baklava selection. If you try to call ahead to order, it's hard to reach someone since they seem to be pretty short staffed but while you're waiting for your order inside you can walk around and shop. I bought this yesterday, store to freezer bag van and straight to the freezer. Opened it today:FULL OF MOLD!!! No return or Exchange. Beware the frozen food. The bottles of shatta sauce: all the lids top safety seal have popped up. Not safe. Only positive I have to say is the bbq kabob skewers are cheap. average $2. And the inside restaurant has garlic sauce (toum) by the pound and is actually good. I prefer to go to Princess market. Smaller, not as much options but better quality. The inside restaurant has good food too. Green corner in South Chandler has lamb chops, good shawarma, comparably priced and is a standalone restaurant. I will never go back to this grocery. I was told by my Yelpin friends, Baiz Fresh Foods is the place to go for things like olive oil, hummus, garlic sauce - pretty much EVERYTHING MEDITERRANEAN. Boy oh boy, they were not kidding. My wife and I spent almost an hour walking through the entire store, choosing different items and then ended back at the restaurant in the middle where we had samples of several different items and then bought a bunch of food to take home. Let me tell you..... if you love garlic the way we do and have never tried "garlic sauce" - get in your car and go to Baiz Fresh Foods in Mesa right now!
