It makes me wonder why all healthcare facilities don't utilize online paperwork (the kind you don't have to print). It makes so much more sense and is super convenient. The facility was nice, clean, and bright. Dr. Rkein made sure to address all of my concerns during my visit and really helped with my skin issues. He helped me better understand what to do with my skin and how to treat it effectively. I'm glad I have a dermatologist now to help me navigate all of my sensitive skin issues. I wish I could give this practice 10 stars!!! We have been impressed multiple times, but our last visit prompted me to write a review. I took my three kids in for skin checks. My youngest, six years old, needed to have a mole removed very close to his eye. We were scheduled with Ty. He could have taken off the mole right there at the appointment, but he knew that wasn't the best treatment plan for my son. He had us come back a few days later, apply numbing cream an hour before, and my son didn't shed a single tear. No pain at all! I appreciate practitioners who go the extra mile to do the right thing! Desert Sky Dermatology was a recommendation from my mother-in-law. She had such incredible things to say about her experiences with a few of the different doctors there. I had already established care with another dermatologist that I really liked, but because his practice is so small, it is very difficult to get an appointment. I had a freckle on my face I wanted to have looked at and it was concerning me. I didn't want to wait until after the holidays to have it looked at. I called Desert Sky and they were kind enough to put me on the schedule as soon as they could and also put me on a waiting list. They called a few times to get me in sooner, but it was my stupid schedule that got in the way. They sent me a few text reminders before my scheduled appointment. Upon arrival, they were so sweet and gave me the new patient paperwork. They also email you before hand if you'd like to print it out and not have to fill it out when you get there. I only waited a few minutes before I was called back there. I was surprised at how huge it was. I've never had a dermatologist office be so big with so many people working there. My nurse was Ashley and my doctor was Dr. Lehrer. They were so great. They were very kind and also incredibly quick. The doctor told me that my freckle was benign and he could freeze it off for me so I no longer had to worry about it. It took about two seconds and was painless. Also, the nurse was so kind to recommend a few different pharmacies that were less expensive than CVS and she called in my prescription at all of them so I didn't have to worry about finances. I had the pleasure to meet with Rachel for a hydrafacial. Some of my concerns beforehand were recent breakouts and hormonal breakouts; I felt like I needed a good deep pore cleanse! She was very professional and knowledgeable and knew how to work on my skin. I mentioned to her how my recent facials were traumatizing due to the fact that it was rough on my skin and left me scars that lasted months!! She took the time to learn more about my skin and find products that will work with my acne prone skin. My facial was very relaxing and my skin felt very smooth and shiny afterwards. The reason to why I am not giving it a complete 5 stars is because I felt like because I told her about my past experience with a horrible facial, she felt hesitant to really deep clean. I felt she must've been a bit worried if she would leave me any scars. I wish she could've been a bit more aggressive to really clean out my pores. Also, I feel like her price for the hydrafacial was a bit over my budget. I know she's one of the best but it's nothing crazy to up-charge for something as simple as a 45 min hydrafacial. She recommended to come in every 4 weeks but a) I cannot afford that and b) she's booked months and months in advance. It seems impossible to keep this routine on a timely schedule! Went for a full body check. It was so quick and the least thorough check I've ever had!!!! Which is terrible living in AZ!! Dr never said a word about the skin tags on my chest or the wart on my foot!!! What the heck am o paying for if you do not notice these obvious things??? I asked about a spot on my chest, he said it was fine, then 5 minutes later says he needs to biopsy it! So is it not fine or is he just trying to make more money???? Of course it came back fine, which I'm very happy about! But still skeptical, think that was a money make!! Checking out, I was charged incorrectly, told wrong information about my insurance, fyi I used to bill medical insurance so I due know what I'm talking about. These people toyed with my money and time. I even told them i was in chronic pain and discomfort. and heres what they do knowing this: They first dont even suggest me a face moisturizer its a cetaphil moisturizer for HANDS.i wear this moisturizer and it feels like i have to wear it all the time or my hands get unbearable. It should be helpful not make my skin dependant on it. I go in a second time and they do this twice: offer me an expensive cream thats impossible to wear. I feel like something so messed up would sound fake but they did this.. the cream literally tightens your skin so much you cant move your mouth and yes your entire face (tightens pretty much instantly after its on). I wish I did not have to write this review but Dr Hill misdiagnosed me two years ago for a skin disease and has caused me greater harm and a lot of wasted money. In the Spring of 2022, she diagnosed me with lichen sclerosis with a visual of my torso and limbs, prescribing a steroid (clobetasol propionate) and Vit D cream (calcipotriene) along with 27 photo light treatments. I have been faithfully using these creams for 2 years now. The Vit D cream costs me $100 a tube and the steroid at $46 plus each photo light treatment cost me $30. I went to another dermatologist today who informed me I do NOT have lichen sclerosis but lichen simplex chronicus which is a very different treatment and I could have avoided using the steroid 2x a week, the Vit D cream daily and didn't need photo light treatments. Lichen sclerosis is a vaginal disease which rarely appears on the limbs and torso. My lichen simplex is only on spot on my legs and back and caused by friction. My new dermatologist showed me the back of my knee where I have been applying the creams and the steroid has damaged and scarred my skin, with dark red spots and veins showing. I had no idea it looked that bad. I do not believe my skin will ever repair itself. Dr Hill has caused me damage to my skin from over steroid use, unnecessary costs of the medicines and light treatments which increase skin cancer risks, and a lot of worry about having this disease and trying to prevent it from getting worse. I am extremely unhappy with Dr Hill and her incorrect diagnosis. My new dermatologist has prescribed a new treatment for my lichen simplex chronicus which is a good everyday lotion! read more

I have been going to desert sky for a little while now and have been very happy with my care. I see Dr. Rkein and he is great! He helped get rid of a skin problem that I had struggled with for 2 years and gone through 2 other offices. He involved me in the treatment plan to evaluate what was working best for me, and always takes the time to answer all my questions. They've been very accommodating when I've had to bring my toddler to appointments as well, a staff member would stay with her and give her snacks while I was in the laser room where she couldn't be. I went in for a full body scan. I met Dr Wing. We did the scan and found a few things concerning him. He asked if he could do a biopsy right then and there. I said yes. I have a new ugly mole that appeared on my forehead and I tried to schedule an appointment. First available appointment was 3 months out. I mentioned that shouldn't a possible cancerous mole be checked out as soon as possible. She said earliest appointment was 3 months out, she said they were all full. I asked if she knew of any other place I could get in sooner and she said she only works for Desert Sky and didn't know about anywhere else. Doesn't sound bad as I write it but felt extremely rude to me at the time on the phone. I've seen Dr Lehrer twice now and I am very pleased with my experiences at this office. I have seen multiple specialists and punctuality has typically been an issue. I have never even waited 5 minutes at this office once I am seated nor do I ever have to wait in the room. I just wanted to thank Dr. Rkein for doing such a wonderful job of removing a pretty scary skin cancer off my father's back. His nephew died just two years prior of melonoma on his back that spread to his brain so we were pretty nervous. Also my father had prior issues with infections from another doctor after skin cancer removal. But Dr. Rkein got everything and did a beautiful job sewing my dad up and he never had an issue. Well I recently had a few more mostly in the beard area where it was a pain to shave. I though well, I would establish myself with a Dermatologist here in Arizona so, I did with Desert Sky as the were like 4.9 out of 600 plus reviews. Was not disappointed. I had a full body scan and 4 spots removed with liquid nitrogen not to complex but, the service was great and so were the girls that treated me.
