From the second you walk in, she greets you like family, and before you've even settled onto your stool, your drink is already on its way, made exactly how you like it. Mine's a Tanqueray and tonic, my wife's is a lemon drop, and Rachel has never once needed a reminder. She doesn't just do that for us. She knows everyone at that bar by name and exactly what they drink. And those drinks are killer. Her lemon drop is perfectly balanced, never too sweet, and my T&T comes out crisp and right every time. You can tell she takes real pride in her craft. But what really sets her apart is her energy. Rachel lights up the whole room. She's quick, she's funny, she's warm, and she makes a busy bar feel like your neighborhood spot. She's juggling a full bar and still makes every person feel like the most important customer there. Mark my words: one day Rachel is going to be running her own place, and when she does, we'll be the first ones through the door. Until then, Sammy's is lucky to have her.
